Mumbai, Aug 6, 2008: An aspiring actor tried to immolate outside Balaji Telefims office when he was not allowed to meet Ekta Kapoor, the owner of the company. Ekta runs India's largest television production house churning out serial after serial for almost all the leading television companies in the country.

Twenty-eight year old Akshay Kumar who came from Ahmadabad, Gujarat to be a TV actor went to Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms hoping to get the break from the best known TV production house.

Be it Zee Entertainment, Star TV, newly launched 9X or Sony TV, when it comes to Television soaps, everyone goes to Ms dependable Ekta Kapoor, the czarina of Indian television. And she produces one successful TV soap after the other enthralling audiences of all age groups, socio-economic background earning praise both from her admirers and competitors alike.

Daughter of the renowned Bollywood actor of yore Jitendra, Ekta Kapoor has produced and co-produced numerous soap operas, television series and movies. Her most famous television venture has been Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which started airing on STAR Plus in 2000. Since then, the show has continuously been among the top rated programs on Indian television.

Ekta Kapoor totally dominates Indian television, producing more than eight television soaps for STAR Plus, India's leading general entertainment channel. At the 6th Indian Telly Awards 2006, she bagged the Hall of Fame award for having contributed immensely to the Indian television industry.

The television producer is obsessed with the letter 'K' and all her Television soap begin with the word K. Be it Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasamh Se, Kasturi, Kayamath, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Kuchh Is Tara, Kya Dill Mein Hai and Indian television's most successful soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Shukla was not allowed to enter the office as he did not have an appointment with Ekta. Shukla pleaded a number of times with security guards stationed there to allow her meet Ekta, but to no use. Later he sneaked into the office during a pooja ceremony but was identified and pushed out of the office.

Balaji Telefilms is the foremost production house in Indian television industry and Shukla had not imagined any better place to begin his television career. They are identified with some very successful TV soaps running on different television channels. That include Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasamh Se, Kasturi, Kayamath, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Kuchh Is Tara, Kya Dill Mein Hai and Indian television's most successful soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Balaji Telefilms has also hobnobbed with Bollywood producing a couple of films including Mission Istanbul, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Krishna Cottage, Kucch To Hai and Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta.

The man who was saved by a passerby who in order to douse the fire threw Shukla in a nearby gutter has survived with 45 percent burns and is recuperating in a Mumbai hospital.

Later Shukla in a statement said that he was deeply insulted and thus decided to take the drastic step. A case of attempt to suicide was registered against Shukla.
