Finally, OSO to release in multiplexes

The stalemate between Om Shanti Om distributors Eros and the multiplexes has ended with both reaching a mutual agreement over profit sharing for the first three weeks.

Though both the parties are unwilling to divulge the exact ratio, it is being claimed by industry insiders that it is the same as what Saawariya distributors have agreed to.
Om Shanti Om was under threat to be released only in single screen halls after weeks of negotiations failed between the two warring parties – OSO distributor Eros and the multiplexes. Their demand was a 50-50-40% profit sharing ratio for the first three weeks respectively. Finding it unreasonable the multiplexes had threatened to shun the SRK starrer. Saawariya distributors Sony too had demanded the same ratio as Saawariya and finally settled for 50-40-30% for the first three weeks. An official from Adlabs cinemas told us, "Yes the deal has been finalized. But we won' be opening the advance booking plans right on. They shall begin Wednesday onwards."

Saawariya's advance booking plans opened on Sunday and has been generating exciting response with most of the shows for the first three days already showing a houseful sign. But, the trade is expecting OSO to overtake Saawariya. With King Khan heading the cast and strong buzz about the film being a total masala entertainer it is being said, it will create records when it comes to an opening in India as well as abroad.

The total number of prints in India for OSO is a record 1500 whereas that of Saawariya is 950. But abroad, Saawariya - being Hollywood big studio Sony's first Hindi release - will be released with 200 prints. OSO though is still expected to score more than Saawariya with SRK's soaring popularity with the NRIs especially in UK and the US. The first week collections are being speculated to be double than that of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
