Shantanu Mehra believes that Indian fashion has all the necessary ingredients of unparalleled creativity, vast variety of fabrics, a treasure of kashidkari to prosper into a huge industry but what it lacks is professionalism and a technical approach that is involved in transforming a business into an industry.

Shantanu always nurtured the dream of making "Shantanu and Nikhil" one of the leading fashion houses of the country. A degree in business administration has helped Shantanu understand the market, its needs and the various intricacies involved in effectively marketing the product.

Shantanu's orientation has been towards business and academics. He acquired a degree in Economics from Hans Raj College, Delhi and was awarded an MBA scholarship degree from University of Toledo, Ohio. Shantanu, with his brother Nikhil Mehra, a product of FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) Los Angeles, decided to pool in their entrepreneurial and designing skills to venture into the business of fashion. Hence, the birth of 'Shantanu and Nikhil' as a label in 1999.

Shantanu takes care of the business development and the management aspect of the company. However, he has evolved as a creative person over the time and now is also actively involved in the designing aspect of "Shantanu and Nikhil".

Shantanu introduced the Indian couture men's wear as a full fledged product line in the year 1999 and looks after designing and styling for this particular line. He has a great sense of color aesthetics and visualizes the design with precision. Shantanu's thoughts are then given a final shape by his brother Nikhil.

Shantanu is a keen tennis player and has represented his college and high school in various State Tennis Tournaments. Today he plays regularly in various tournaments in the city.

Shantanu provides the cutting edge by his strong business sense and managerial skills and shares a vision with his brother to take the 'Business of Fashion' to a platform where 'Shantanu and Nikhil' becomes a name to reckon to with.

Nikhil Mehra

The ingenious, ambitious, young designer of 'Shantanu and Nikhil', Nikhil Mehra has a lifelong passion for designing. His clothes exude a sense of freedom in creativity. Nikhil designs for the young, the trendy, the confident Indian youth and works towards this fashion segment achieving new heights .

Nikhil is passionate about making 'Shantanu and Nikhil' a success not only in his country but world over. He takes care of the entire designing aspect of his product right from innovating to detailing that goes into developing the finished product. With his brother Shantanu to take care of the business development and management aspect of the company, Nikhil can concentrate entirely on his talents as a fashion designer.

Being the youngest member of FDCI, Nikhil takes care of special projects and here too uses his creative talents to develop the business of fashion.

Nikhil had a varied experience of working in different kinds of projects during his tenure in the U.S.A. Nikhil was invited to design a collection for a prestigious store 'Giorgio Beverly Hills' in Los Angeles. The designer brought in a twist to the western silhouettes by introducing hand embroidery. He was also featured in L.A. Times as the designer introducing fusion in the true sense of the term. Nikhil also worked as an assistant to Mary Gray, the owner of St. John Knits, the million- dollar fashion house and worked for prestigious clients like Ms. Hillary Clinton. He had also worked as a fashion designer for a sports wear company called Flyte gear sports wear in California. Nikhil had done an internship for Richard Tyler who is one of the few leading American fashion designers.

Nikhil graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising from Los Angeles, California for advanced fashion design program. He has been awarded with some of the most prestigious awards and scholarships.

With a penchant for acting, Nikhil has acted in plays with famous theatre personalities like Lillette Dubey and Sita Raina. Nikhil would want one day to be acting in a movie made by him on fashion. He also plays Golf and Tennis and is enthusiastic about skiing.
