She started getting all love and care from Garewals way before she saw Viaan as a romantic interest. And Viaan practically fawns over her and her son. So, if it were the question of vanity or narcissism, being with Viaan would serve her purpose better than not being with him.

Money she has got from Garewals. And being with Viaan would be more advantageous in terms of monetary and societal benefits than breaking up with him.

And, this short association with Viaan didn't really bring any advantage to her personally or professionally. She's back to square one, but even worse than before. She didn't climb any professional ladders, or earned a lot of money, so it can't be said that now that she didn't need him anymore he was thrown to the curb.

So, why is she doing this? I think it's pure, unreasonable, irrational stupidity. Feels like she is being downgraded as a character to glorify others. Probably laying the ground for the new entry who's maybe going to be even more mahaan than her. Her worst characteristics are getting highlighted- stubbornness, self-righteousness, egoism, obsession with her kid, and it's really irritating to watch actually. Katha is just across as a bad bad mother.
