Calling Viaan would have been futile. Knowing him he would never have hidden behind katha while she faced the wolves alone. He is not the type to throw people under the bus, and especially not katha who he feels completely protective towards. His guilt and sense of responsibility wouldn't have let him because he truly believes the mess if of his making, and he is nothing if not responsible.

By calling Reet katha probably wanted to plug in the source itself. Stop the motormouth from spewing garbage before she had a chance to talk herself to the family, now that she herself knew Reet's role in the whole fiasco. Finally accepted that keeping this secret from everyone was impossible now so it would be better to come clean on her own terms. Wish she had gotten the chance. But that would have also meant smooth sailing for Kaviaan and that wouldn't propel the story forward

I had been anticipating full fireworks when the truth comes out. This is such a wasted opportunity for some drama. Katha facing public humiliation alone and having to walk out makes more sense if they wanted to do a separation track.
