So there is another side of the story .. doesn't mean it's right. Yes there were some revelations that people need to know about. For instance- how Seema's reputation was ruined... Not sure if Teji was the reason Seema got dementia ... But if that's the case then yes Teji should be held accountable for her actions... But fact remains that

A) Viraj gave up on them, not Teji. She wanted to work things out for their son's sake. What she would've done to achieve that can be debatable but she wanted to give their relationship a chance... She didn't run away the minute things got difficult. That's now how marriage works.. especially when you have a child..On one hand he says he doesn't want Viaan to grow up in a hostile environment and on the other hand he yells at his wife, humiliates her, calls her gold digger Infront of his son.. How's the son supposed to feel? Wouldn't be hate his father for treating his mother like that? Of course he would...

B) Viraj loved his son but he still failed as a father big time because he could not love his son more than he loved himself.. he put his happiness above all.

C) We are hearing Teji's part in all this from others and even then I'm not able to put the blame squarely on her..

Her logic as to why she didn't allow Viraj to meet their son seems justified.. Viraj got everything he wanted - the love of his life, a daughter, a whole new life... and he even wanted the son he had from his wife who he had no love or even respect for... So basically cut just that one woman out of his life and have everything... Teji was just supposed to let him have everything without any complain.. accept the new woman in her husband's life and be a bystander? That's ridiculous..

What Teji did wrong was not trying to fill the void in Viaan's life.. she too failed as a mother but not as much as Viraj.. so more than Viaan hugging Seems, Im upset with Viaan apologizing to his father ...

This is exactly what I wanted to say.You have penned it really well.

The movie on the other hand seems progressive and very way ahead of it's time

if you are interested, you can check out the subtitled version of the movie. it is one of Mani Ratnam's big hits. the first three minutes gives you the turmoil of growing up in such complicated family -- where the 1st ML has to explain to a stranger how he is second wife's son.

I feel children are innocent in this !

They are born out if the union whether parents married or not , name calling is not right nor do insulting them!

No one can live in a suffocating relationship unless they dislike freedom totally , exactly not sure what went wrong with Teju and Viraj! Nor do I have the patience 🤣to disect it ... I am waiting at least some love story to begin

Teju, Seema and Late Viraj 😆

That is not the point now ... Viaan's journey it is now his hatred towards his father will be completely gone!

He is not going to hate his mother , esp no when he is looking at every prospective 😆

He too had a right to spend some time with father like weekends etc ... spend some time with his half sister and do mischievous siblings fun ( Eshan could have started his love ❤️ affair a way earlier so that less time spend on yachts and parties 🤣)

Jokes apart ... FEAR is a very strong emotion

Teju had a fear loosing even son's love , she never over come it ... without facing it , she took shield ... thinking protecting never faced reality

The person she had as a support continously " GASLIGHTED her ( Farah)...

Now this phase is over , want to see more of Katha,Aarav and Viaan not TEju, Seema and Viraj

Enough ... but it was very fast by this week should be over

I like this way of handling by writers nothing OTT

I guess it was ahead of its time in that it dealt with how the children felt with such a weird set up. however, there were plenty of movies that showed a man having second wife. especially those village movies had many such scenarios. like I mentioned in my other post where I tagged you, there were clear lines on mistress and second wife. they were not the same and cannot be equated that way. people didn't really bother with the legalities and I am not sure if it was illegal anyway then. the laws confuse me on that subject.

a couple of years back, a famous director died. he had won a few national awards. prior to his death, he was at his first wife's house. so when he passed, there was some tamasha that the son (from first wife) was not allowing the second wife to come over. they had no kids and she used to be a well-known actress.

she even gave interview on TV saying, "I am not a mistress or his girlfriend or partner. we were husband and wife even if we couldn't do it legally. so I want respect." maybe there was lots of industry pressure (from close friends and family) and the son relented and she was allowed to participate in all the funeral rituals. then she gave another interview saying that she didn't want any wealth (she had her own) but she wanted acknowledgement for the decades they had been together and she was glad that she had been given the respect of second wife status.

Yeah polygamy is not much common in India and having a sexord wife while there's already a first wife is considered taboo... So, definitely things are not going to be fine for the second one... Unless the husband has divorced from first one...

Now I'm curious whether this track was actually in OG or the makers were inspired from this incident which you shared 🌝🌝

OG it was straight forward they fell out of love, that guy married again but they are following Islamic faith it is kind of normal in Turkey to have second family

Still father didn't have children , second wife was respected college professor who never got married again ... his true lover .

ML's Mom later stated to disturb her like every say visiting the lady " Asking why do husband left her , what the second wife had so special that she herself lacked " 🤣

ML also would meet and will cone to know the truth that parents were caught in a loveless marriage and craziness of his Mom's nature etc

absolutely complicated for the children. like you said, they should be given respect. there is a reason Mani Ratnam's film was titled "agni natchathiram" -- which means the hottest period of summer -- to indicate the troubles children in these complicated families go through.

I feel the problem here is the ridiculous dialogue like "saccha wala pyaar" which just triggers people and gives the impression that the makers are trying to justify EMA. the question here is a matter of respect. so vanya and seema wanting respect would be more in line with the thinking on ground.

who cares whether or not viraj loved seema or teji? that is hardly the issue in the Indian arranged marriage context. 😂

I found some of the dialogues seriously strange. like the confrontation between teji and seema -- why is seema begging teji to let go? that should be viraj and why would a man give up everything to get a divorce? that too in Indian context?? he can just go ahead and get second marriage like what used to happen.

plus, viraj would never say that he does not love her. maybe I am just thinking based on all the regional cinemas but not a single confrontation I can think of had something silly like this. instead, it was just brutal "I don't want to live with you because I am unhappy and you are a shrew". thats pretty much it.

even in the ongoing bagya lakshmi tamil serial (the tamil version of anupama) where the ML leaves, he just says that he never liked her from the start and it was unwanted arranged marriage he was pushed into. that is the kind of sentiment that is often expressed. nothing about notions of romantic love in the way it is written here. feels very strange like I am watching some westernized hindi show.

that said, teji was vindictive -- a woman who claims to love would not try to sabotage the respect of the man. she made viraj into a joker after his death. so this is obsession not love. she wanted to punish the man for leaving her and viaan was the tool in how she did it.

I have no idea how common or uncommon it is but there are plenty of politicians, businessmen as well as media celebrities who all have second marriages without ever legally dissolving the first. even among middle class and lower class you heard of such families. like I mentioned a few pages back, the old laws were complicated and so many people didn't bother with technical legalities. thats why this track gets no reaction from me other than being perplexed on why there is some emphasis on the word love. that is so foreign as far as I am concerned. no one in our parents generation would talk about love and whether or it exists. 😂

I am disappointed with the track and the show. 🤢🤢 Disgusting

They must keep in mind the societal context in which the show is being aired. In Indian context, marriage is super sacred institution.

Teji was the first and only legal wife (second marriage is illegal unless you take divorce from first wife). Both Viraj and Seema were aware of first marriage. Basically both of them started an illicit relationship knowingly and willingly. Seema is obviously his illegal woman and a home breaker. She snatched away a father from son and husband from wife.

They should be ready to face the consequences of their own actions. Now Seema begging to get acceptance is ridiculous😡

Any woman in Teji's place would have acted and reacted the same way. She lost her husband, she was scared to loose son. Quite natural. So she tried to keep Viaan away.

Viraj is the villain, and he chose his own happiness over his son. He ill treated Teji infront of her own son. Then he writes letters saying that he loves his son. What kind of love is it where a father loves his son very much, at the same time disrespects and breaks his own mother and even disrespects their family?😡 If this is called "love from a father", better not to have such loving father

Seema is the second vile person, who willingly entered into an illicit person, snatched away father from a child and is now asking recognition to her and her illicit child from the same child. She is cunning😡😡

Teji is the victim, who will now be more insecure and restless for her lifetime as her relation with her son is in turmoil with this track.

Does it mean Teji as a woman was used as a tool to deliver Viaan, as a product for Viraj to love him as his son? Does Teji hold a respectable position other than a machine to deliver a son?😡

Teji should have slapped Viraj while leaving and if she did not allow Viraj to contact Viaan, she is right from her POV. Does Viaan deserve a father who does not love his mother? Does he deserve a father who does not recognise them as a family?

In all of these, Viaan is the biggest victim. He lost his father while he was a child. With this un necessary truth revelation, he lost his beautiful relation with his mother.

Vanya is also victim. Poor girl is born out of wedlock and comes with a lot of baggage.😭

Why Katha had to investigate and give justice to Viraj's illegal second woman and illicit child? I really hate Katha for being biassed towards Seema and Vanya and putting all blames on Teji😡

She should stay away from his family matters and does not poke her nose in anything and everything in his life

Pre cap is really ugly. Viaan hugging Seema who broke his mothers' home🤢🤢 And he is angry with his own mom and saying sorry to his dad who left them for his own happiness🥺🥺

I really don't understand what do they want to prove with this white washing of Viraj and Seema. Does it mean tomorrow Viaan can also fall in love with some one else after his marriage with Katha and leaving her and child? Will it be accepted in the name of falling out of love with her and falling in love with some one else?

Does it mean a man can marry a woman, make a child with her, claim that he is not in love with her any more and walk out and make another family with his new found love? And he can repeat the cycle as long as he wants? Is it what our values teach us? I am disappointed👎🏼👎🏼
