Hey there all Mimi here, these days I am not watching the show much but caught on a little through yt( I am busy personal stuff) and I was caught Off-guard. These days I am watching Drama Attor_ney Woo and somehow I ended up making comparison with Kdrama and ITV show.
So I will step out of the boundaries to talk about Katha the Architect's story.
1. Why ITV keeps on Bending to the extent the FL becomes some Superhuman with no human traits?
The whole Katha euphoria is based on the superhuman traits of Katha. Is she a saintess? Because a human in daily life can't be this way. In one side she does Duniadaari where she had learnt everything in life before this phase and in one side she has yet to apply some real human reactions towards situation.
When I was watching the drama there was a case of ATM casette ( gist: She is autistic yet brilliant. The autistic nature brings out sympathy from people and also their praises except one guy who take her as competition as a lawyer. When they were working on this case she was the one who gave the hint to the liar how to lie without getting caught.The guy clearly pointed that out to her and later she felt ashamed coz she knew they were the bad people and only to win the case she helped the bad guy)
The above paragraph is written to show that to bring out a character and make it more humane one needs to introduce flaws in the character. No one is perfect in this world and if you one wants to make their characters relatable they need to hold the ground tight with cons and pros of human character traits. The only flaw Katha has is that she applies her judgement skills only on Viaan which shows how the writer failed in making her character of judging and understanding human beings. Otherwise the hostility she had towards Viaan after that one night stand for the reason of taking advantage she should have shown a little bit of resistance to Mr.Grewal too coz he didn't want to waste a penny on his grandson who was lying on the death bed.
Pros: My mom is also not watching Katha for being busy maybe last 20 episodes. But she asked what are the latest changes? Are they married now? I said Nope she is talking with him comfortably now that's the biggest development. So yeah Katha is really different in ITV standards from this side for not showing unhealthy marriage between two people who had trauma for spending the night together. That night has regrets and guilt.
2. I had a Face Palm during the Shamita Case. I mean can't a bad girl be really bad girl... Why the Pyramid influence? So let's compare Business Politics in ITV and Kdrama a little. Will pull the same drama example.( Gist: There are 2 competitive law firms and the politics are like offering a job when the other works there and assigning someone to make another employee quit with the promise he will be given job in their law firm. Here none of the employees are involved personally though the deson was a little personal. They didn't do anything that can tarnish their image in the professional world, kept their agenda hidden and tried to ruin the other without being visible on the surface or showing their claws to the whole office) The feel there is really what business politics brings but in ITV business politics feels more like a commercial stunt with advances being vague and impromptu also with the mixture of the curse of ITV called 'MAHANATA'.
Viaan calling back Shamita or Pyramid being behind Shamita and also Shamita not caring that her image in the professional world can collapse, her education or even the opportunities will dissolve if she is found being a lady who uses her body to trick rich men... Which shrewd woman would be this stupid? In one hand she aims to land with a rich man by using trickery and plotting to make her life accessible to luxury and on the other hand she made the petty mistake of trying to defame Earthcon Ceo without the fear that the rich people can bend to any extent to prove their innocence. You got me there Shamita with your utter hand in hand stupidity and cleverness. And I swear the shaming that led after the investigation... Where's the dignity of behind the desk search of the case?
Also Katha should have shown some arrogance being the one who led the investigation, that would have been more human like considering the fact the same boss slept with her one night in exchange of money.
Pros: I liked how the show talked about the toxic relationship between the Devar of Katha and his wife. Indeed his wife is toxic and the way he seeking the emotional support from Meera because slowly and steadily the communication between the husband and wife raptured forgetting they should accept share and understand each other is highly commendable. Duty, relationship, mental comfort with a person all is getting talked and it's important to hear that not all cheating comes from some woman who wants to be gold digger or some men who wants to have pleasure for fun. It's a heavy discussion and sometimes a situation should be blamed and the lack of spark between husband and wife which vanishes with time.
3. Viaan is real but trying to copy Katha's fictional character. I love Adnan and his acting is always to the point but he trying to have the forgiving image to suit Katha's palette is something which leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Learning is a part of life but unlearning things aren't good if they are lessons of life. As much as he wants to broaden his vision towards women in general is applause worthy but forgetting that his house was also broken by a woman and his own father is stupid af. At first he made the mistake of thinking all women are gold Diggers and now doing the mistake of considering all women are saints. That's where the show did wrong, since there doesn't exist truth but opinions in terms of human beings. He should have stayed open to all the surprise a character of someone can bring whether that person is a man or woman
Pros: The show is bringing different interpretations of similar situations. For example Cheating: Viaan's father abandoned his family claiming he loves someone.
Women can live with the shell called love like My husband loves me and he gives me gifts ( it's ok to have no conversation about any situations of life) but men wants exchange of intellect, love gestures and a comfort space where they interact else they either starts treating the woman who is okay with the bare minimum as doormats or start losing the respect which one should have towards the other person to have a healthy relationship.
As much as we don't know whether the woman( the mistress) was a gold digger like Shamita or really someone who was sharing the emotional or mental toll like Meera the show has given the base of both kind of relationships that can lead to cheating. If it involves a gold digger then it's the physical chemistry that lead there and if it's the sharing of words it's the mental chemistry. I came across once the line 'The maximum divorce that happens across the globe is cause of 3 factors, lack of finance respect, lack of communication and the difference in libido aka se* craving '. Not just divorce this leads to cheating and human psychology plays a major role in validating stuff inside our head. This lies a base of how the story of Viaan's dad may unfold in future and yeah I do look forward to it.
