Everything that katha has done so far has been stupid. This is why people call her selectively righteous because she only acts according to what she feels is right and doesn’t look at the bigger picture. At first I used to think she was a great mom too but letting Aarav speak to some rando Robin is ridiculous without her knowing who Robin even is. I think a lot of her actions result from the fact that she has always handled everything herself including her kid after her husband passed away so she doesn’t look at situations from different perspectives. Which is why like everyone said it is easy to gaslight her. She definitely has a lot of learning to do for herself.
You raise an interesting point of independence & self-reliance. In Katha’s case it was unfortunately forced, in the beginning. Now it has become not only a habit but an entrenched belief in her own abilities. We know that everyone’s ability has limits. Also, there is the fear in Katha that I have to do everything for myself & not depend on anybody’s help else I will become vulnerable. That is understandable, given her soul-scarring experience with the Garewals when Aarav was sick.
But somewhere this habit seems to have become a point of ego, where she takes pride in not taking help & resolving everything herself. This vanity has become a patti on her eyes & is making her stupid. She thinks she is being fiercely independent, instead she is the opposite - easily manipulatable.
