It’s not character association. Ehsan’s real nature is showing. All these years, including that umbrella scene, Viaan had depression issues, so he is used to being sad and pouring out his heart to Ehsan, who used to be his advisor. Ehsan has a latent superior mentality to Viaan because Viaan rates him so highly in his life. But now, Viaan is changing and his true nature is coming out. He is not moody and is doing things that is showing people how great he actually is. He is no more the person that would cry complaining to Ehsan. And he is now coming up top, the position that Ehsan likes to hog. It's not just Katha. Its everything. Ehsan is used to Viann doing all the work and being in his shadow all at once. And now he is not even trying to yet Katha is attracted. It's not assassination. This is realistic to show we can't really judge books by their covers. That’s why I am one of the few that support what is going on. Ehsan is going to do worse and it makes sense.
I agree. I think it suited Ehsan very well when Viaan was the "khadoos" boss who made unreasonable demands, who kept his employees working all hours of the day to unrealistic deadlines, who did nothing but sit in his cabin and work. It's why he keeps going on about how anti-social Viaan is, and why he loves it when people like Viaan's mom turn to him to be the "Viaan whisperer" and get him to do what they want. At some point in their childhood they ended up in this toxic, symbiotic 'friendship' where Viaan relies on Ehsan to be his emotional centre, and Ehsan feeds this narrative that he alone can see the true Viaan, he alone can save him.
Ehsan has always been and wanted to be the "friendly" boss, the one who jokes and joshes with the staff, who appears to ease Viaan's sharp edges. When they played these roles, life was good for Ehsan, because he was the one everyone liked and turned to. He was the life of every party. Now, Viaan's coming out of his shell, more and more people are seeing his true nature, the secret parts of him that he's kept hidden. He's becoming less of an enigma and more of a human in the eyes of their employees - especially but not only in Katha's eyes - and that is eating Ehsan up inside. If Viaan is now the fun one as well as the hardworking one, where does that leave Ehsan?
It was interesting to me that it wasn't only seeing Katha respond to Viaan that made Ehsan jealous. Even when Jeetu bhai was giving his speech, and about to thank Viaan, Ehsan snatched the microphone away from him and made a joke to deflect, and then again when Viaan hugged Jeetu bhai, Ehsan couldn't stand it and made some lame comment to get the attention back on him. The Katha situation is just accelerating it all but the undercurrent was always there. Ehsan wants all the attention and none of the hard work. He wants Katha to fall into his arms but doesn't take the time to actually understand her or her motivations. He uses her son as a means to get to her, rather than getting to know him in his own right. He wants the employees to see him as the cool, fun boss but has no interest in doing any of the hard work it takes to run a business. He sees Viaan as his worker bee, and himself the queen. In short, he craves attention, and it bugs him now that Viaan's getting the spotlight.
Which is why I'm going to love it when he finds out about Viaan and Aarav's Batman/Robin equation, and realises how easy and natural their bond is, in comparison to chik-chik uncle 🤣
