She is yet another female protagonist from the Ekta Kapoor camp who has got married twice (on screen!). But Kasturi or Shubhangi Poorey begs to differ. "There is a twist coming up in the story of 'Kasturi' and I am sure the viewers will love it," says Shubhangi, who plays the lead in Kasturi. Poorey was in the city to inaugurate a Diwali mela and spent a few minutes talking about 'Kasturi' and her career plans.
Dressed in peach salwar suit, Poorey seemed different from her 'Kasturi' avatar of sarees with bindis. "Oh! I always like it this way," she chuckled. Poorey says the serial has given her the chance to play a dream lead role. "Ekta Kapoor's female protagonists are so strong. They have all shades, including grey. So it's really nice to play the lead role. I wouldn't have opted for any other role," she says.
The track of Kasturi is in for a big change. And for those with a memory lapse— Kasturi's first husband Raunak is no more and Kasturi has married her first love, Robby. "There are more twists coming up soon. Keep watching and I am sure that you will love Kasturi in her new, power packed version," she smiles.
Although Poorey is really busy with Kasturi at the moment ("it takes off 15 to 18 hours of me everyday and I have to take care of my baby daughter too"), she says will love to do offbeat films which offer more realistic stuff. "I love work of actors like Smita Patil, Amol Palekar and others who have done some great offbeat movies and given a chance, I would love to step into their shoes," says Poorey.
