Next morning, in chawla house everyone was having breakfast. There was quite alot of noise as everyone was sitting on the table chattering. Kaushalya was busy making parathe whilst alka was busy eating them (kaamchor kahi ki). Just then there was a knock on the door.
'Mein dekhtha ho' said JP getting up. He opened the door and saw a very prominent figure standing.
'Ji aap?' he said
'Namaste' the person said folding his hands in front of him
'Namaste' JP replied still looking confused as to who this person was. He looked quite stylish with his jeans, t-shirt and blazer and various accessories.
'Main kasturi ka boss ho, Robbie sabharwal' said Robbie
'Arey andher aye na' said JP bringing Robbie inside.
'Dekho na kaushalya kaun aya hai?' said JP 'kasturi ka boss!' he said delightedly
'Namaste!' said kaushalya welcomingly folding her hands. Robbie reciprocated. All the youngsters were really excited to see him there and couldn't believe their eyes. Tanu, navneet, tiku...and even alka!
'Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh Robbie!!' screamed alka. She got up from her table and ran to him
'Robbie ji, Robbie ji mein aapki bohaaaat bari fan ho autograph please' said alka excitedly
'Er kaha?' he asked and smiled
'Kya?' said alka dreamily looking into robbie's eyes
'Er autograph...?' he said
'Oooh ek second' she said and tried finding a paper nearby but couldn't find one so grabbed the half eaten paratha from tiku's hand.
'Arey maa...' said tiku
'Ye lijeye' said alka with a silly grin on her face
'Is pe?' said Robbie looking at the paratha weirdly
'ji...agar aap is parathe pe sign karde ge tho is parathe ke tho bhaag ki khol jayege' said alka dreamily
'Ji?' asked Robbie confused scrunching his nose.
Everyone started laughing and Robbie eventually signed the paratha.
'Robbie puttar ao na betho, nashtha karo' said dadaji
'nahi woh shukriya...mein darasal kasturi se milne aya tha...woh 4 din se kaam pe nahi ayi na tho socha...' he said
'Haan, bechari. Patha nahi usko kya ho gaya hai. 4 din se badi ukhri ukhri rehthi hai, khaana bhi nahi sahi se khaathi agar kuch bolo tho keh dehthi hai ke tabeeyat kharaab hai. Pata nahi kya ho gaya hai is ladki ko.' Said beeji.
Robbie was feeling very bad and guilty whilst beeji narrated this to him.
'Aunty, kasturi kaha hai?' he asked hesitantly
'woh apne kamre hai' kaushalya replied
'agar aapko aitraaz na ho tho kya mein use mil sakhtha ho?' he asked hesitantly
'zaroor puttar...navneet ja Robbie ji ko kasturi ke kamre thak lekar jaa' JP said
Navneet happily bounced up and took Robbie upstairs.
'Kitna acha, sanskaro wala ladka hai na' said beeji
'Haan' agreed kaushalya
'Kina soona munda hai' said alka dreamily
Upstairs:
'Dii, dekho aapse kaun milne aya hai?' chirped navneet
Kasturi was standing by the window looking outside. The window was open blowing her hair around. She turned around to see who it was. Navneet moved back showing Robbie who was standing behind her. Kasturi looked at him shocked and navneet ran off leaving only Robbie and kasturi in the room.
Nobody said anything for a few seconds; they both just stared at each other. Robbie looked at kasturi and could tell she was still upset by her body language. Her eyes looked red and swollen and slightly moist like she had been crying, she looked weak and frail. All this made Robbie feel really bad. Kasturi was looking back at him with no expressions what so ever.
'Aap yaha?' said kasturi finally breaking the silence with anger in her voice
'Kasturi woh...mujhe tumse baat karni thi' stammered Robbie
'Lekin mujhe aapse koi baat nahi karni' said kasturi turning back so that her back was facing Robbie.
'Kasturi meri baat tho suno' he said
'Mujhe kuch nahi sun na, aap please yaha se chale jaye sir'
There was no response from Robbie. Kasturi's back was still towards the door where Robbie was standing. A few seconds later she heard the door close and sighed a relief thinking that Robbie had gone. But then she heard the door lock. She turned around and saw that Robbie was still there and he locked the door.
'Ye kya badtameezi hai?' asked kasturi angrily
Robbie didn't say anything, just looked at her silently and strode towards her slowly.
'Yeh kya kar rahe hai aap?' she again asked but this time worriedly.
Again Robbie didn't respond, just kept increasing his steps towards kasturi fixing his gaze on her face.
'Dekhiye' she said moving a step forward but then back again as she saw that Robbie wasn't stopping
She kept moving back as Robbie kept moving forward. Each step she took back, Robbie took one towards her.
'Dekhiye, wahi ruk jaye ye' she said pointing at him whilst moving back. But Robbie wouldn't listen or react, just kept continuing his stride towards her.
She started feeling scared. 'Mein kehthi ho wahi ruk jaye warna mein chilaogi' she said with fear in her voice.
Nothing affected him he carried on walking towards her. Kasturi stepped back until her steps wouldn't allow her. Her back hit the wall, she was now against the wall, she couldn't move any further.
'Wahi rukh jao...mere paas math ao' her voice was shaking 'mein keh dehthi ho mein chila do gi' she said
Robbie was just steps away from her and his eyes were still strongly fixed on kasturi's eyes. Just then kasturi was about to run away when Robbie quickly grabbed her and pushed her against the wall. He came right upto her and before she could scream pressed one of his hands firmly around her mouth and with his other grabbed onto kasturi's hands tightly so she couldn't move.
'Mmmmm' kasturi tried to scream. She was looking at Robbie scared, her eyes were reflecting the fear she had, she struggled to get out of his grip. Robbie continued staring at her intently. His stare was scaring kasturi even more, she could see anger in his eyes. Kasturi's heart started racing even faster, one because of the proximity between Robbie and kasturi and two, because she was scared what he was going to do. Had he come here to get revenge for the slap?!
They both carried on looking into each other's eyes, kasturi with fear in hers and Robbie with anger in his. She tried to release herself from him but to no avail, he was too strong for her. Slowly robbie's expression calmed down from his angry look and very softly he said
'I'm sorry kasturi'
Kasturi stopped struggling to let herself go and looked at him with less fear and more questioningly.
'Woh mujhe patha nahi tha ke tumhe yeh job ki itni zaroorat hai. I didn't mean to scare or hurt you. Mujhe laga ke woh sab karne se maza aye ga aur mein tumhe maza chaka sako ga tho meine....Trust me kasturi, i seriously didn't mean to hurt you. Mujhe laga ke tum mujhse darke ye naukri chordo gi aur mein jeet jao ga...lekin mujhe nahi patha tha ke ye mazak tumhe itni buri thara se affect karega. I'm really sorry kasturi.' Said Robbie all in one go. He was truly looking sorry and guilty.
Kasturi looked at him confused. The fear had gone from her eyes, she just kept looking at him. She had never seen this side of Robbie and she was very confused.
'Meine tumhare saath itna sab kuch kiya aur tumne phir bhi, tumhari koi galthi nahi hothe hoye tumne mom se kuch nahi bola, unki baatein suni, aur tho aur tum yeh job bhi chorne ko tyaar hogi.' He continued.
'I'm really very sorry kasturi. Please agar ho sakhtha ho tho mujhe maaf kar dena' he said sadly.
He looked at her for a few seconds waiting for a response from her but there wasn't any. He became impatient and irritated and said
'Tum kuch bol kyu nahi rahi? Mein itna kuch bol gaya, tumhe itni dafa sorry kaha aur tum chup chap khari hoye ho' he said in his usual adamant tone
'Mmmmm' she said
'Kya?' he said moving his ear slightly towards her
'mmmmm' she again mumbled
'kya kasturi mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha tum ye kya...'
'Mmmmm' she said again directing with her eyes towards his hand. Robbie followed her eyes confusedly and realised his hand was still on her mouth. He quickly let go and moved back and said
'Oh sorry...mein bhi kitna bara duffer ho' he said taking his hand through his hair.
Kasturi stood there silently, still looking at him.
Robbie noticed this and said 'hello ab tho meine tumhe chordiya hai ab tho kuch bolo' he said waving his hand in front of her ' i know ke mein itna hot ho ke tumhari nazar mere se hath nahi rahi lekin kasturi abhi is waqt pe...' he said in his flirtatious naughty tone.
'Aap phir shoro hoge?' kasturi finally said widening her eyes at him
Robbie got a bit worried thinking he had offended her again and went serious
'Nahi woh...'
'Hahahahaha' kasturi started laughing. Robbie realised she was just playing with him, he looked at her thankfully
'Thank god!!' he said 'mein samjha ke kahi tum mujhe phir se kahin kaan ke neeche lagan a do!' he smiled
Kasturi smiled back at him. This was the first time they both were smiling at each other from their hearts.
'Iska matlab ke tumne mujhe maaf kar diya' he said
'Meine aisa kab kaha?' said kasturi looking at him seriously
'arey meine tumse itni ache se baat ki tumse itni dafa sorry bola' said robbie
'ache se baat ki? Mujhe daara ke, mere itni kareeb aa ke, mera mou aur haath ko itni zorse pakarke aap kehthe hai ke aapne mujhse ache se baat ki'
'Haan aur nahi tho kya? Tum tho mujhe bolne ka moka hi nahi de rahi thi isleye...'
'isleye aapne aise...'
'dekho kasturi phir se na shoro ho jao. Ek tho tumne mujhe itni zorse kaanke neeche baja dala ke uski awaaz abhi thak mere kaano mein goonjh rahi hai upar se meine tumse maafi maangi woh bhi tumhare ghar aake...yeh koi choti baat nahi hai!' he said
'arey, ek tho khud galti karthe ho, aur mujhe blame karthe ho aur ab maafi bhi aise maang rahe ho jaise koi ehsaan kar rahe ho!' she said
'Dekho tum...' said Robbie holding his finger in front of her face
'kya dekho?' she said also putting her finger in front of his face
They both looked at each others fingers and then their own and started laughing.
'Acha kasturi mein chaltha ho' Robbie said and walked towards the door. He stopped at the door and turned around
'waise...agar tum chahthi ho tho...tum kal se job pe aa sakhthi ho...' he said
Kasturi looked at him raising her eyebrows
'nahi woh...mujhe koi farak nahi partha tum aao ya nahi ao...tumhari marzi...lekin shyad mom ko tumhari zaroorat hai tho agar tum ana chaho tho aa sakhthi ho' he said casually
Kasturi looked at him and smiled
'Infact agar na bhi aogi tho chale ga...mujhe tho bohat acha lage ga' he said cheekily. 'Lekin age tumhari marzi....'
'Ji sir...' kasturi replied
Robbie looked at her hoping to get an answer from her but she just stood there with her arms folded smiling at Robbie. He walked out and went to his car and started smiling to himself. He felt like a huge burden had been lifted from his shoulders, he felt much better now that he had apologised to kasturi but there still was something in the corner of his mind bothering him which he couldn't put his finger on. Not being able to figure out what it was he ignored it and drove off.
Meanwhile, Kasturi in her bedroom was back to her normal self again. She was also smiling to herself. She sat in front of the mirror and recalled what just happened, then softly hit her forehead and said 'idiot kahi ka'
The next day Robbie went to office again early in the morning. The employees were used to him coming so early now that it didn't come as a surprise to them anymore but today was slightly different. Robbie was happy, he looked fresh. He greeted everyone with a huge smile on his face and went to his cabin. He swung in his chair round and then called the recptioinist.
'Good morning rita, kaisi ho tum? Acha kasturi ko bolo mere cabin mein aye' he said. There was happiness in his voice
'Sir lekin kasturi tho office aye hi nahi' she replied
'Kya?' asked Robbie getting upset 'aye nahi?'
'Yes sir'
Robbie again got angry and slammed the phone down
'Ab inhe phir kya hogaya' wondered rita looking at the phone
Robbie feeling irritated thought
'Maine usko kal sorry bhi bol diya phir bhi nahi ayi? Chahthi kya hai, mein apna naak ragro uske aage' he said angrily 'itni importance agar mein kisi aur ko dehtha na tho woh tho zindagi bhar mere paer chath tha rehtha aur yeh miss arrogant...samajh thi kya hai apne aapko'
Robbie was very irritated. He sat in his cabin annoyed for a while but then eventually thought 'mujhe kya...woh aye ya nahi aye' he got up and went towards raunak's cabin.
He opened the door and said
'raunak tu....' he stopped as he saw something unbeleiveable. It was kasturi she was sitting in raunak's cabin discussing about robbie's upcoming concert. They both stopped talking and looked at Robbie.
'Tum?!' Robbie said happily. His face suddenly lightened up seeing kasturi.
'Good morning sir!' kasturi said with a smirk on her face.
But then he went back to his angry mood again as he remembered how annoyed he was just a few seconds ago because of her.
'Tum phir aa gayi?' he said trying his best to look angry
'ji sir' kasturi said smilingly
'Tumhe chain nahi hai...itna sab hone ke baad bhi phir aa gayi' he said angrily
'Arey sir aap bhool gaye' kasturi said. Raunak and Robbie both looked at her confused
'Kya bhool gaya?' he asked
'arey sir lagtha hai ke us din ke thapar ne aapka dhimaak hila diya' she said giggling. Raunak also started sniggering at kasturi's comment.
'what do you mean?' said Robbie in an angry tone.
'kal hi aapne mujhe bola tha ke aapko koi farak nahi partha ke mein job pe ao ye nahi ao' began kasturi
'kya kal?' said raunak surprised
'nahi woh...' said robbie
'arey sir, apne raunak sir ko kuch pataya nahi? Yeh kya baat hoi? Koi baat nahi mein unko patha dehthi ho' she said naughtily
'woh hua kya sir...' said kasturi turning to face raunak
'Nahi!!' Robbie shouted. Both of them turned to look at him. Robbie looked embarrassed whilst kasturi was trying hard to control her laugh.
'kya huwa Robbie?' asked raunak
'kuch nahi..woh..er...kasturi tum mere cabin mein ao' said Robbie
'ji bas 2 minute sir mein raunak sir ko...'
'kasturi mere cabin mein ao isi waqt' said Robbie strictly and stormed out.
'ji sir' and kasturi followed him after a few seconds.
In Robbie's cabin:
'ji sir aap ne mujhe kyun bolaya? Kuch kaam tha kya?' asked kasturi innocently
'tum ne mujhe pataya kyu nahi ke tum office aa gayi ho?' asked Robbie angrily
'sirrr, aap hi ne tho kaha tha ke aapko koi farak nahi partha..mein ao ya nahi, meri marzi'
'haan kaha tha, lekin ab tum aa gayi ho tho tumhara farz bantha hai na ke tum mujhe inform karo' said Robbie looking sternly at kasturi. He was sitting on his chair whilst kasturi was standing in front of his desk with folders in her arms.
'kyun aap ne kaha tha ke aapko meri koi zaroorat nahi hai isleye meine devika ma'am aur raunak sir ko infrom kar diya tha' she replied
'Lekin secretary tum meri ho, na ke raunak aur mom ki' demaded Robbie
'sir, mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha. aap itne ghusse kyu ho rahe hai?'
'aur tum late kyu aye kasturi?'
'late...nahi tho'
'jhooth math bolo kasturi, tum late ayi thi maine 9 baje rita ko poocha tha aur usne bataya tum nahi ayi'
'oh acha woh mein pehle aap ke ghar chali gaye thi na sir'
'mere ghar...kyun?' asked Robbie calmimg down slightly
'aapko jaagane ke liye sir'
'mujhe jaagane ke liye' said Robbie feeling a bit happy
'haan sir, lekin waha ja kar patha chala ke aap kab se office chale gaye hoye hai'
'aur mujhe nandu kaka ne yeh bhi bataya ke aap 4 din se office aa rahe hai aur woh bhi subah subah...kya baat hai sir aap mujhe itna miss kar rahe the ke aap har roz office aana shoro kar diya' she asked naughtily
'nahi woh...' he said nervously. He was getting embarrassed by kasturi's talks
'woh kya sir?' she said smiling
'Woh kuch nahi! Mein tumhara boss ho ya tum meri, kab se mujh se sawaal poochi ja rahi ho. ho kya gaya hai tumhe?' said Robbie again getting angry.
'mujhe kya ho gaya...sir ho tho kuch aapko gaya hai...kab se ajeebo gareeb baatein kar rahe hai..kabhi ghussa ho jaathe hai tho kabhi naraz tho kabhie khush...akhir baat kya hai sir..kya huwa aapko?' said kasturi
'mujhe...mujhe kuch nahi huwa.' Said Robbie hesitantly. He himself didn't know why he was reacting like that. 'Tumhe koi kaam nahi hai kya? jao yaha se jakar apna kaam karo. Yaha mere saath mere cabin mein gape kyun lara rahi ho?' he said rudely.
'arey kamaal karthe hai aap sir khud hi mujhe apne cabin mein bulake khud hi pooch rahe hai ke mein yaha kya kar rahi ho' said kasturi starting to get irritated.
'Meine?'
'haan aapne, aapne hi tho mujhe raunak sir ke cabin se...' said kasturi
'oh haan...woh meine...meine tumse koi baat karni thi' said Robbie lowering his voice.
'ji...kya baat sir..'
'woh...woh...woh...mein bhool gaya!' said Robbie turning his face away from hers.
'ajeeb hai sir aap, mujhe bolaya baat karne ke liye aur khud hi bhool gaya' said kasturi
'ab bhool gaya tho bhool gaya, isme bhi tumhe problem hai?' said Robbie turning his face again to face kasturi
'sir meine kya...' she said
'nahi... bolo na... ab mein kuch bhool bhi nahi sakhtha kya? Woh bhi mujhe tumse permission lekar karna hoga kya? Ke agar madam kasturi bolegi thi bhool gaya agar madam kasturi ne bola ke yaad karo tho yaad karliya?' said Robbie sarcastically
'sir ye aap kya keh rahe hai?' kasturi said confused
'Ab kya huqam hai maalkin' he said folding his hands in front of her and bowing his head in front of her pretending to be her slave. 'aap bole tho mein uth jao? Nahi nahi mein uth hi jaatha ho aapke hothe hoye mein betho...ye tho jahapana ki tauheen hai' he said getting up from his chair.
'Aapse tho baat karna hi bekaar hai!' kasturi said angrily. She was very annoyed. She turned around so that her side was facing Robbie.
Robbie walked upto her and turned her around to face him.
'Kyun mere se baat karna kyun bekaar hai? Raunak se tho bari has has ke baatein kar rahi thi, tho tumhe mujhse kya problem hai huh?' he asked her angrily
'Problem mujhe nahi aapko hai sir' she said pointing at him
'mujhe? Mujhe tumse kya problem hogi huh?'
'Aap se yeh saha nahi jaa raha ke koi hai jo aap ko importance nahi detha, ke kisi ne aapko thapar maara, aapse sorry bolwaya. Aapko yeh baat hazam nahi ho rahi ke mein aapko eeth ka jawab pathar se dehthi ho' she said removing all her frustation
'dekho tum...' interrupted robbie
Just then raunak entered and saw both of them arguing
'Arey tum dono phir se shuru ho gaye?' he said
'shoro mein nahi yeh hoi hai raunak' said Robbie pointing at kasturi
'aapne shoro kiya!!' demanded kasturi looking crossly at robbie
'meine?' he said pointing at himself
'aur nahi tho kya maine?' she said sarcastically
'stop it you two...kya huwa?' raunak asked trying to calm them down
'mujhe tho iski shakal se hi nafrat hai!' shouted robbie
'aur mujhe aapse!' yelled kasturi
'Huh!'
'Huh!'
They both said and turned around with their backs to each other and their arms folded. Raunak started laughing seeing both of them acting so immaturely. Both of them turned round to look at raunak
'tum dono na...aise ladthe ho jaise janam janam ke dushman ho'
Both of them looked at each other and squinted. Kasturi stormed out of robbie's cabin and went to her desk. Robbie angrily looked towards the door.
'mmmm achi hai....' said raunak after a few seconds
Robbie turned to look at him thinking are you mad
'kya khaak achi hai?' bellowed robbie
'hmm sweet hai' said raunak
'sweet my foot! Sweet nahi kadwee bol karwi!' said robbie
'nahi yaar...kadwee tho bilkul nahi hai' replied raunak
'Hai! Khud tho kadwee hai hi upar se baatein bhi itni karwi karwi karthi hai!' exclaimed robbie
'Kya?' questioned a surprised raunak
'aur nahi tho kya?'
'yaar Robbie....coffee karwi hai woh tho samjah mein aya, lekin coffee karwi baatein karthi hai..yeh kuch samajh nahi aya?'
Robbie turned around looking at raunak confused
'coffee?' he asked giving raunak a funny look.
'haan coffee!' said raunak lifting the mug of coffee he had in his hand
'coffeeeeee' said Robbie looking embarrassed
'tu kya samjha?' asked raunak mischieviously
'kuch nahi mein bhi tho coffee ki baat kar raha tha' replied Robbie trying to cover up.
'acha?' said raunak raising his eyebrows
'haan!' said Robbie turning around so that raunak couldn't see his face incase he realised that he wasn't talking about the coffee.
'mujhe laga tu....' began raunak
'kya laga?' he said playing with the pen on his table
'nahi kuch nahi mujhe laga tu uski baat kar raha hai'
'mein kyun kasturi ki baat karoga!' said Robbie putting the pen down angrily and shrugging his shoulders
'arey meine kasturi kab bola?' said raunak cheekily.
Robbie turned around facing raunak. He felt embarrassed like someone had caught him red-handed
'nahi woh...' he said, again turning back
Raunak put the mug of coffee on the table and put his hand on robbie's shoulder.
'Robbie kya huwa tujhe?' asked raunak softly
'kuch nahi yaar' said Robbie still with his back to him
Raunak turned Robbie around, 'kya huwa patha na'
'Kuch nahi yaar jab se yeh ladki meri zindagi mein ayi hai thab se meri zindgai mein kuch sahi nahi huwa. Us ne mera dimaakh kharaab kar diya hai'
'Woh tho dikh raha hai Robbie...jab se ye ladki teri zindagi mein ayi hai thab se teri zindagi badal gaye hai...tu woh puraana Robbie nahi raha'
'Tu kehna kya chahtha hai raunak?'
'jis Robbie ne kabhi kisi ki fikar nahi ki, kabhi kisi ki feelings ki parwa nahi ki, kabhi apne kaam ko le kar serious nahi huwa, wohi Robbie char din se office time pe aa raha hai, wohi Robbie ek maamooli ladki se use maafi maagne ke liya uske ghar thak chala gaya!' narrated raunak
Robbie was shocked as to how raunak knew all this
'Itna heraan math ho Robbie, kasturi ne mujhe sab kuch pataya!'
'Kyun Robbie kyun, jis ladki ne tujhe thapar maara, teri bezthi ki, jis se tu itni nafrat kartha hai, jisko tu shuro se job se nikhaal na chahtha tha tu usi ladki ko sorry bolne gaya' raunak continued
Robbie didn't say anything. He just looked down at the floor.
'jab woh kaam pe nahi ayi tho tujhe bura laga aur jab woh kaam pe ayi tujhe bina bataye tho tujhe woh bhi bura laga. tune uspe chilana shoro kar diya kyun? Apna rob dikhana shuro kar diya kyun? Woh teri lagthi kya hai huh?' questioned a serious raunak
'dekh raunak mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha tu kya keh raha hai?' said Robbie looking up at him
'tujhe samajh nahi aa raha ya tu samajhna nahi chahtha?'
'raunak tu pagal ho gaya hai?'
'pagal tho tu ho gaya hai Robbie. Woh ladki ko 10 din nahi hoye teri zindagi mein aye hoye aur tu...'
'main kya?'
'tu us maamooli ladki se...'
'dekh raunak mujhe nahi patha ke tu ye kya bakwas kar raha hai, tu patha nahi kya kehna chahtha hai, lekin mein tujhe patha do kasturi sirf meri secretary, aur mein uska boss iske age aur kuch nahi'
'acha aur kuch nahi'
'haan'
'kasturi sirf teri secretary hai?'
'haan!' he answered irritatedly
'aur kuch nahi?'
'raunak dekh tu mera dimaakh kharab math kar jo kehna hai saaf saaf bol'
'jo main kehna chahtha ho Robbie woh tujhe patha hai'
'kya matlab?'
'matlab tu apne dil se pooch...tujhe jawaab wahi kahi se mil jayega'
And raunak left leaving a very confused Robbie standing there alone in his cabin.
