"Shukriya, inspector saab. Shukriya."

"Yeh toh mera farz tha," he responded. He gently patted her head, then turned sternly to Raunak. "Chalo."

She averted her eyes as he walked past, trembling. Robbie walked over to her and she buried her face in his chest. He squeezed her close protectively.

"Jee, mom, ab mujhe saara sach bata hain. Is sab mein Kasturi ki koi kasoor nahi. Aap isse apnalijye."

"Mein use nahi apnaasakti. Bas."

"Mom, please. Aap Kasturi ko itni nafrat kyun karti ho? Aapne dekha hain, jabse woh meri zindagi mein aayi, meri zindagi sawar gayi, sambhal gayi. Aapko khabar hain ke mein use kitna pyaar karta hoon. Toh aap kyun apna aashirwaad nahi dehsakti? Aapka beta tumse kuch mangraha hain, aap use itna bhi nahi dehsakti? Please, mom. Meri khushi ke liye. Please, mom. Kasturi ko apnaao."

She paused, biting back her sharp remark and considered. All she wanted was Robbie's haapiness. Then practicality overrode her maternal sensitivity. How could she let Robbie ruin his life for the sake of this'infatuation? She had worked so hard to establish this empire. She wouldn't let this temptress of a girl single-handedly crumble her efforts.

"Toh ab yeh tumhari maa se zyaadi maiyne rakhti hain?"

"Par mein sirf Kasturi pe marta hoon, mom. Aur daulat sab kuch nahi hota. Sacha mann, sanskaar, yeh sab kuch zaroori nahi hain?"

"Sanskaar? Izzat? Shayad tum bhoolrahe ho, Robbie, ke yeh koi bholi bhali kumari nahi hain. Iski shaadi ho chuki hain. Meri baton ka parwa nahi, kam se kam, log ki baaton ko socho."

"Majboori, mein, mom. Kasturi ne aisi raha choona toh nahi na. Aur log ka kya? Sab se zaroori hain hamari marzi, tera beta ka marzi? Mere liye aap apna guroor nahi chorsakti?"

"Robbie..."

"Please mom, mujhe yakeen hain, sirf Kasturi sahi hain mere liye. Please, mom'"

Chapter 19 - Aisa Kyun Hota Hain Baar Baar (english)

"I made only one mistake, marrying Raunak. But now I can't live under the shadow of this mistake anymore. I always though, that if someone did bad to you, not to retaliate. But it's enough now. I say that, Raunka is my wrongdoer. He beat me, not once, not twice, but many times. He kept being cruel towards me, and I kept quiet. Yes, I hit him, he could have died. But I didn't do so on purpose. Yes, I ran away. But what could I do? Then, fortune favoured me and I met this man, who truly loves me, and who I truly love. But I'm not free yet. Because this man wasn't content." She jabbed her finger angrily towards Raunak. " He is still claiming his rights over me. Inspector sir, it's enough. I'm tired. I can't forgive him. I want to punish him. That's all."

"Listen. When he's committed such a crime, he doesn't deserve forgiveness. Don't be scared. I'll get you justice. Believe me, I promise you, that he will definitely get punishment for his deeds. And you will get your happiness. He has lost the rights of being your husband. Don't worry. You just have to sign the divorce papers. That's all."

"Thank you, inspector sir. Thank you."

"It was my duty," he responded. He gently patted her head, then turned sternly to Raunak. "Come on."

"The flaw's in her birth. Think, Robbie, how can such a girl be my daughter-in-law? At least think a bit, where's you, the boss of such a big empire, thousands of girls would die for you…and where's she...?"

"But I would die for just Kasturi, mom. And money's not everything. A true heart, values, aren't all these important?"

"Values? Honour? Perhaps you're forgetting, Robbie, that she's not some innocent unmarried maid. She is already married. If you don't care about what I say, at least think about what people will say."

"Compulsion, mom. Kasturi didn't choose such a path. And what about people? Isn't the most imortant thing waht I want, what your son wants? For me can't you forget your arrogance?"
