Why always the expectation from / hatred towards female characters?

Ok first I just want to say I haven’t watched a single episode of this serial. So I don’t know the details. All I know is the story from season 1 and promos and little bit of the forum I have read. So discussion is also general. Generally in any serial, movie or book Hollywood or Bollywood female characters get more hatred and absolutely no redemption . A greyish or villianish female character will always be a vamp who doesn’t deserve love or redemption and greyish or villianish male character is the hottest thing around who deserves all he wants in life😆. It’s a very very universal thinking and exists from silly Hollywood teen movies to silly Ekta K serials. And it’s something that gets my blood boiling. Komolika manipulates into marrying Anurag because she loves him or whatever but she doesn’t deserve a redemption arc to get her true love. No one even thinks of shipping Komolika and Anurag because well Anurag and Prena love each other. But Rishab forces Prema to marry him and going by season1 story he will get a redemption arc and people can still ship Rishab and Prerna knowing that Prena and Anurag love each other. Of course Komolika being a female character can never get that. She is forever doomed to be a vamp. Now apparently Rishab who forced a girl who is in love with some one else to marry him can be forgiven but the girl whom he forced to marry will still be judged for following her heart and her feelings. Worse expectation is Prerna should forgive and move on with Rishab who forced her to marry him and separate from the love of her life but there is absolutely no expectation from Rishab who claims to love Prena that let Prena go free and be with the one she loves. If he truly loves her then let her be happy with one she loves. But no expectation is from Prena . Forgive the man who took away your happiness, move on with him and love him but Rishab can’t even be expected to say a sorry for all he has done.😆 Matlab no matter what female characters have the worst.

Well said 😆

The way of portrayal of characters is different so the reactions also different but I think in today's times people are intelligent enough to understand prerna s side also.

During previous season it was easier to accept relationship between prerna and bajaj but in today's times to many of us it's unacceptable.

I think the hatred for female characters comes from wish fulfilment. They don't identify with the female character, they just see her as a blank canvas and insert themselves into the story as her to enjoy a romance with a male of their choice. When she doesn't do what they'd like her to do, they get frustrated with her and bash her.

That's what it seems like to me.

As for Kasauti, while I have no problems with grey characters and their romance with someone good (e.g. Catwoman with Batman), in Kasauti the villains are proper black. Too dark to be paired with the leads.

I wouldn't ship Komolika and Anurag simply because of the fact that she tried to kill his dad, killed the father of the woman he loves and tried to kill the said woman in front of everyone.

I wouldn't ship Bajaj with Prerna because he's sinister, extremely selfish and a very very sick soul who loves playing mind games. Probably got some people assassinated too.

@bold :

Oh you are completely right, and it happens every other day here on the forum. And if she does what they would like her to do, then hail her.

Plus, Prerna Sharma has never been understood for what she is, everybody has a vision of what they want her to be.

why not prerna asks the divorce paper and leave bajaj? ab toh koi problem bhi nei ..

keya prerna kabhi iyea rishte ko chorke jana chahti hai ? bajaj said ap jo bolenge wohi hoga , prerna khud dekha woh abtak jo jo mange hai bajaj se sab kuch use mila.. jab chaha anurag ke pass jana , usko permission mili , woh har ek chis apne marji se kia after marriage ... even aj bajaj BB chorne chaha usmai bhi woh mana kia , and bajaj man geya .. then why does not she make freeing bajaj ?

why she is standing in two boats in the same time ? why she does not has her own voice ?

When the female lead is the one ping ponging the expectation will be from her to man up and be one side whatevr side it may be....She is supposedly 21st century female she can atleast speak the truth and stand up for herself or get the man she loves to stand up for her.

She is merry sailing in two boats while showing herself as some mahaan devi ....both men want her for their own reasons its for her to make the decision so whats wrong in having expectations of her when she is the one to make that decision.

This woman victim card in this characters case is a royal flop. She has no and never really had an identity of her own ever bec she was busy living her life for someone who never really understood her.

PS You havent watched a single episode of the show and want to have a general discussion basis season 1 when this season clearly hasnt followed season 1 at all and the chars arent even remotely similar either.Amazing.

I dont think.. right now it's anything to do with female character. It's writer doing but Her character has left no options then to leave audiance question her. Equally question has been raised to Male lead too before but now her character is bound to be question and it should be. Neither we see empowering lady neither we see dignified lady neither we see a good mom. Ahe has just left question for audiance mind.

For me as a women..tbh..I find it hard to support or connect with her now. Even if she go back to aanu..I cant trust her anymore. Not discussing about baby thing is digging her own grave.

It's not about y female lead..writer has not left any option then to question now.

So well written! Clear, concise and to the point!

And totally agree with the paragraph in bold!

I don't want to involve anurag and bajaj in this topic at all. Let's keep them aside and let's just analyse how her character is shaped up in this last one year.

She hasn't finished her graduation, she has no career ambitions whatsoever, she is from a middle class family and the first and foremost important thing in life to the middle class girl is her education and career.

I have no issues with her love or her so called this great sacrifice tag that she is carrying in this show since the show started.

It's 2019,and every girl has to be self dependent in the first place, but prerna is not. She needs someone or other to bail her out always in her life whenever she is in crisis.

So how anyone can expect in today's times to get connected with her?

19 years ago when the last season was aired, even then we saw how much she was interested to have a career of her own and was independently handled so many situations alone without the help of any of the male characters.

Even then she was deeply and madly in love with anurag. But she never lost her self respect for the sake of her love. She always gave priority to that self respect and always stood for herself. She stood for her family after her father passed away and proved how good daughter she is.

If they can show that 19 years ago, why not now.

The writers failed to sketch her character properly since the start.

A woman is more than just a lover, wife and mother.

Let me tell you I'm a male myself. but the way this show showed her as if it's always from a male leads point of view is totally wrong.

Last season it was prerna's story, her journey, it's from her point of view but this season it seams its all about how the males want her to act or behave is more important than what female wants.

There is no consistency in her character in this show. So sorry I can't connect with her.

I can't even connect with the male lead is a different topic altogether which is not required in this topic.

I will write about that in detail, if someone makes a post on male lead separately.

Completely agree with the bolded part lol

And your post..but is prerna gray?

Two, I dont get this argument about how she is bashed from all sides..are anurag and bajaj being bashed any lesser than her ? Therr is hatred for all the 3 characters by those who are extremely obsessive about the other 2 . It's ok since the makers dont intend to paint any character like black or white or gray as we perceive.

However I'd like to blame her for the situations she created. She made certain choices. She will bear the consequences good or bad. It's her choice to keep so many secrets which may destroy her relationship with anurag. Then if she will cry that anurag doesnt trust her , who is to be blamed ?if anurag cried and blamed prerna when he married komo , Will it not look comic ? Everyone must owe up to their actions.

I think she is old enough to understand her ping pong and its consequences too. The two men are after each others blood . One is extremely vile and dangerous while the other is extremely foolish to see what's coming his way. ..he is mindlessly challenging him again and again .... the conflict between the two may be disastrous.. Which world is prerna livinf in ?
