Chapter 4:
Prerna texted him in the dining room as she waited: What are you talking about?
He didn't respond.
Prerna sighed in frustration.
Veena took a deep breath: You have given me a lot of think about, Mr. Bajaj.
Mr. Bajaj: Please call me Rishab.
Veena nodded: So what of your daughter's mother?
Mr. Bajaj: I divorced her when I realized she was abusing Kukki. Kukki was not born deaf, she can speak, she has been traumatized because of severe...(he struggled to say the word) beatings when I was not around. I did not notice it fast enough, but I took immediate action for full custody when I found out. Kukki can hear what people say, that's why she responds, but she has never responded to another woman with the kind of trust she puts in Prerna. I was desperate, Mrs. Sharma, when the doctor said Kukki is showing psychological responsiveness for the first time in three years, I wanted to make sure Prerna could be there for Kukki. I did everything in my power to think of alternatives, but I could not think of a scenario where Prerna could be Anurag's wife and still be there for my daughter. In all this, I forgot to consider that she is your daughter and her happiness matters too. I did not want to take away her youth or her right to live a normal married live with the partner of her choosing. I only wanted what was my only option for Kukki. I am not apologizing as I know I cannot be forgiven, but I am asking you to understand that your daughter had no fault in this. All she did was be herself with a little girl. She does not deserve to be criticized for marrying me.
Veena: What about my daughter's life though, Mr...Rishab?
Rishab looked down: That is what I am struggling with right now. I know I have taken away her happiness even though feel no regret for hurting the Basu family...
Veena: Your history with them aside, Anurag was the one she wanted. You have taken my baby and made her into a mother with all the responsibilities of one, but she hasn't had a chance even at marriage before becoming responsible for all the other things that come with it. Do you not think she deserves it?
Rishab guiltily: Of course she does and I know she only wants it with Anurag Basu. I don't know what to do...(Veena could see his struggle as he rubbed his temple). Kukki cannot go to the Basu household and she needs Prerna, at least until she gets better.
Veena angrily: Are you telling me you had a contract marriage and expected her to get out of it? You think she can just go back to Anurag like it never happened?
Rishab startled: No! I wouldn't treat your daughter with such disrespect! This is a marriage for as long as she wants it. I have already trampled on her rights enough, but I am not a woman-hating man, Mrs. Sharma. I feel horrible as it is taking away her choice once. I never intended to treat her as an object. Twisting her arm with Mr. Basu's business was the fastest way of achieving that result before her wedding and as a businessman, I went for the best solution under the circumstances. My problems with the Basu family compounded all this. If she was not engaged, I would have come to you and her, begging for my child's life. I know I am not owed anything.
Veena said seriously: What do you want me to do now? You have already made the mess. What is there to be done now?
Rishab: I am asking you to forgive your daughter, Mrs. Sharma. Ask her please, what she wants. I do not take marriage as a joke, I intend to respect her place in our lives for life if she wants it, but if she wants to...break this marriage, (he was silent for a second) I only ask for a little time for my Kukki.
Veena sighed: And what about you?
Rishab looked away: I don't matter. I know I deserve no place in her life. I will agree to whatever decision she makes.
Veena: Why didn't you say this to her yourself?
Rishab: I wanted your counsel and for you to forgive her before we made another big decision that could look worse. As you said, I already made enough of a mess as it is... I will ask her when I tell her. (He smiled fondly as he looked down at his phone) She is already texting me asking what is going on. Your daughter is very stubborn, Mrs. Sharma.
Veena could see what Mr. Bajaj would not admit.
Veena: Do you two have a relationship?
Rishab blushed: No maam, but I respect your daughter. I know she only wants Mr. Basu and I couldn't...I only want what's best for my daughter.
Veena: You will be relieved to know that it is not how I raised my children. They do not take their commitments lightly.
Rishab nodded: I know, that is why I am asking you to take off the pressure of societal responsibilities from your daughter. Please tell her you will stand by her if she decides to end the marriage. I don't want her to stay in it our of any obligation because she has been raised well. She shouldn't stay in it only because of what people will think. I chose for her when we married, I want her to be able to choose for herself if we divorce.
Veena: Would you want her to go into the Basu family? Given what you know? I don't think they would even have her back.
Rishab: If that is where she is sure about going, I will give Mr. Anurag Basu a full explanation. His parents may be disgusting people, but if your daughter has chosen Mr. Basu, he has to be good to some degree.
Veena smiled: Not a great endorsement.
Rishab looked pained and got up: That's the best I can say about any of them.
Rishab and Veena came up to see Prerna trying to get out of Anurag's grip. They were struggling so badly that they did not notice Mr. Bajaj and Veena.
Prerna: I TOLD you I don't want to talk to you!
Anurag pulled her back: I was desperate, that's why I planned the accident, it doesn't mean you get to come do pag-phere with that guy!!!
Mr. Bajag sternly: Let her go, Mr. Basu.
Anurag snapped: I don't have to learn from you what to do with Prern--Aunty...(he let go of Prerna's arms).
Prerna started rubbing them as Bajaj approached.
Mr. Bajaj: Are you okay? Lagi toh nehi?
Prerna shook her head.
Mr. Bajaj: Would you like to stay or come with me?
Veena tried her best to control the situation. She couldn't very well tell Anu to leave without being rude, so it had to be them.
Veena: You have given me a lot to think about, Rishab. Why don't you two be on your way, I will reach out to you in a few days.
Prerna mouthed in surprise, "Rishab?"
Anurag looked from one to another, confused and angry, but he did not say anything.
Veena stroked Prerna's head: I will talk to you later tonight.
Prerna startled, why was her mother being so gentle all of a sudden? What did Mr. Bajaj do now?
Mr. Bajaj bid farewell to Veena and showed Prerna out the door, avoiding Anurag.
Mr. Bajaj in the car: I am sorry you had to go through that.
Prerna: It's my fault. I put a picture of our back garden at mom's on social media and he thought he could come talk to me outside the Bajaj house.
Mr. Bajaj: You don't have to explain, Prerna.
Prerna: I didn't want him to come here. I promise! I don't want to talk to him after what he did.
Mr. Bajaj stayed silent before saying: I canceled my meetings for half the day, would you like to go for lunch?
Prerna: Yes and you have tell me what mom and you talked about. Don't think I forgot.
Mr. Bajaj winced: Only if you don't make a scene after you hear it in the restaurant.
Prerna: What was so bad about it?

Continue soon
great update can't wait for the next
I loved Bajaj Veena conversation, specially the part where he shares their relationship infront of Veena. I know Veena will make the right decision.
Prerna is such a child, 🥰
Beautiful update 👏
Loved Rishabh & Veena's conversation 😊
Looks like Veena liked Rishabh😊
Let's see what will be Prerna's reaction
Waiting for next
Loved the talk between Veena and Rishabh! How much he loves his daughter but realized what he did was wrong👏 amazing. Glad Veena didn't jump boats in a second and asked for some time!
Anurag🤢
Awesome update!

I loved the conversation between Rishabh and Veena. All her questions regarding her daughter's future are genuine. No one can blame her. It's good that he explained all his past and his reasons for doing what he did. He is guilty and though he wants her in his life, he is willing to give the option of taking the decision to Prerna. He wants Veena to support her daughter in whatever decision she takes now. Anurag when will he learn some lesson. How I wish Bajaj takes his revenge. I am waiting for their lunch and his talk, along with Veena's talk with Prerna.
Superb update. Ex ko kaam dham nahi hai kya
Chapter 5:
Rishab could not quite meet his wife's red eyes. She did not speak for a long time as she sat across from the table, she just sat there shaking in rage.
Rishab pleaded: Please, say something.
Prerna: This is about the child, isn't it (she scoffed). That is the difference, I could accept your child even though you didn't even tell me about her until after the wedding, but you cannot accept my child. And I told you BEFORE the wedding! I can be mother to your kid, but you can't stand to accept mine.
Bajaj shocked: This is not about the baby at all.
Prerna's face was stern: You told my mom, didn't you?
Bajaj: NO! She knows nothing about any child. I only told her about my history with the Basu family and how I forced you into a false choice. I only asked that she understood that you were never in the wrong.
Prera sarcastically: Oh, so now you have another false choice for me. Stay or leave. Cause obviously I don't matter at all.
Bajaj shallowed hard: I am giving you an out, if you want it. I am only asking for a little time for Kukki if you want to...divorce. If you need me to talk to Mr. Basu, I can (she interrupted).
Prerna: Oooo, thanks! So now I get to be the bad mom for leaving Kukki behind and I need you to speak for me. And why do you think I need a character certification from you!? You think my word is not enough cause I am a woman? I am so sick of you and Anurag. Both of you think I am your play-thing to do whatever you want. One attaches his name with mine by marriage, the other thinks he can just forcibly take me back. It is all about territory for you both, constantly fighting with each other about who has me. I am not some doll you can brand and do with as you please!
Bajaj appeasingly: Look Prerna, that's not what I meant. I just want you to be able to do what feels right for you. I never intended to make it sound like your words alone do not count. I said I would support you, only if you needed me to. Mr. Basu is possessive and I was just thinking that if he had any doubts...
Prerna: If he has any doubts about you and me sleeping together, he will believe your words over mine. Isn't that right?
Bajaj: I am sorry. I just want you to be happy. Your happiness lies with him and out of this marriage, I am only begging for some time for Kukki. I know I have no right to ask and you don't owe it to me, but for her, I know you like her...(he was messing up his speech as he tried to reprocess his thoughts).
Prerna: I have accepted her as my own daughter. I thought you wanted this marriage to last! (Her fat tears dropped on her salad).
Rishab dug into his own palms to stop himself from wiping her tears: I can see you are not happy. I was selfishly thinking at first that it is not my concern, but I just can't see you cry (he didn't know what else to say and went into his professional mode). I miscalculated (he said like an idiot).
Prerna: You think you can marry me one day and leave me the next? I should have expected nothing better from you, you have already broken one set of vows. What is one more?
Rishab looked struck. She knew she had hit the right place now.
Prerna: If you could leave the mother of your child, what am I?
She got up and walked out of the restaurant. She asked for the car and took the keys from the vallet.
Vallet: But maam, Mr. Bajaj drove you both here.
Prerna: Mr. Bajaj can walk.
Rishab came out to see her drive off.
Please leave your thoughts.
