I think what they are trying to show is that everything good has some bad in it and some one who claims to be bad could have hidden virtues. A and RB are both doing the same thing but their attitude towards that goal is what is making a difference.

Yes she definitely has thawed..Sabse pehle toh when Rishabh apologized in court, a sense of understanding dawned on her face, she had a small smile on her face..Next Veena did not push Prerna away when she hugged her, next when Rishabh stumbled Prerna looked at Veena there was a slight nod from her to go to Rishabh and Prerna did and lastly when Prerna called Shekar, Veena nodded at him to go and help..So for sure the Mother-In-Law is melting and is now more accepting towards her Son-In-Law after all bete jaisa kaam kiya hai Rishabh Bajaj ne..😎
