The shows send a million different signals to viewers which are embedded in your subconscious mind and influences you in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. That is why parents stop children from watching TV they think will negatively influence the children. Think about it!!

The role of media influencing lives is well documented. Why do you think some countries ban TV from Western nations and restrict access to social media? Saudi Arabia comes to mind.

Seriously. So people were not having sex before TV shows? India always had a huge population to begin with just like China. When you have a huge base, it's bound to lead to huge population in future.

Parents stop children from watching some TV shows because they think it will stop their children from not knowing about this & 10 is not the age for a child to think about sex. That's why all nations have age-based rating systems. P*rn has much more effect on mind & it's not telecasted on TV as shows.

People definitely don't go around humping because of a TV show. It's because of p*rn & the kind of upbringing they get. Many are indoctrinated to not have pre-marital sex or sex before certain age & that comes from families.

People don't have sex because TV taught them to have sex. Infact those who have other sources of entertainment tend to have less sex as passtime.

Some countries ban or censor western shows because they think they are protecting their culture by doing that. But all those countries still have brothels & access to Internet. Number of children each of them have is a proof of sex they have despite not being influenced by western shows.

I think we are talking past each other. Television is very influential and any TV show set in a social setting and city like this one sends out all kinds of messages.

As a person who is not Indian and does not live in India, everything on this show is a revelation for me. I am not talking about the illogical plot and chameleon characters. I am talking about the whole concept, the setting, and social situations. I am fascinated.

Even a simple ad sends subliminal messages that influence people to buy products. You have Bollywood actors and cricketers as faces of ads for a reason.

We make decisions everyday without realizing how the info our senses have taken in influences us. Younger ppl are more likely to be influenced without realizing it.

Visual media has a great impact. Read a book and you visualize it narrowly. TVs influence with gazillion channels 24/7 has desensistized ppl to a great extent that anything and everything goes and nothing is off limits. Society’s thinking is molded by visual media but content seems to push the boundaries be it decency or violent content. Viewers just take it in without discrimination and broadcasters dare to throw out more vile content.

Thanks for understanding me. I think married people are not that fool to rely on TVshow story or content or what a show is trying to portray.🤣

People have been having sex since time immerorial. Animals have sex without a guidance. It's primal to animal nature. And human beings are evolved animals at the end of the day.

You are so mistaken!!!!

Indian TV teaches you so many things about sex. From this show, I have learnt the following:

Sex is not normal for young people, sex is only available after marriage, sex before marriage leads to pregnancy, sex between two young single people should always lead to marriage, otherwise, the man may be accused of rape, sex is not available if two people are not legally married. Traditional marriage does not count. There is only one of kind of sex, between man and woman. Sexual compatibility between a couple is not important, class is way more important. and so on.....

You are learning from this show? Does that mean you won't have sex because this show taught that?

People in my surrounding have sex all the time for pleasure, for children despite watching these shows.

This show isn't a woke to teach people about sex. It's a god damn drama for entertainment, not a teaching class. Watch P*rn if one wants to learn about sex or wank to it. Or a sex-ed class may be good.

And thanks for backing up my argument! Sex is normal and natural. So why are the characters on TV not having any?

You are completely missing the point. And your suggestions are laughable. I didn't realize I was engaging with an imbecile.

I agree that romance is highlighted in these shows and the "real life" of hooking up and having sex by young people is swept under the rug. But that is my whole argument. How can Indian TV shows be sending out all these subtle messages about no sex, yet the country's population is so huge?

BTW, some soap operas in the US have been running for 40+ years. It is a different formula.

This show is definitely not an actual representation of Indian society. We don't deck up so heavily & involve in such politics all day & night.

People actually do job here & other tasks, instead of crying buckets all day & night.

Please do yourself a favor & not learn anything from any of Ekta Kapoor's show. There is no subtle message about no sex in Indian shows. There way of showing romance is very different.

This show is no where close to reality, even the setting is made up, none of Ekta shows are. I would be filthy rich if I had a house as big as Prerna & in the show she is poor. No one dresses like these people here. Girls are not stupid & sacrificial as Prerna. My millionaire aunt's house is as big as Prerna or even smaller than that. Social situations are beyond exaggerated in the show. Ekta doesn't make shows close to reality. Gone are those days when ITV used to have reality based shows.

Watch Patiala Babes, KRPKAB, POW, Dehleez, Ladies special, or a Indian web series if you want to learn about Indian society. These shows have done actual job in portraying that.
