I am sure abuse isn't the best word to use but I am honestly shocked with the amount of force the writers are allowing Anu to use against Prerna. Someone else in the forum brought up a while ago that Anurag's behavior in Prerna's room at night (pushing her, yelling at her) shouldn't be romanticized and I cannot agree more. In the previous few episodes, Anu has been constantly pushing Pre against walls and "pleading that she doesn't understand how much she is hurting herself. I totally get where he is coming from and enjoy the little jealously but am disappointed in the way Anu is showing it. The thing that shocks me is that the use of force isn't ignored either! Pre clearly seems upset about it and often pushes him away. She even told him today that he was hurting her and all he did was say "no, you are hurting yourself. What the heck??!
Indian serials often portray a man bruising the girl by holding her too tight (*cough* IPK.. *cough*) and then later tending to her and regretting it. Personally, I don't see the appeal. All I do when Anu grabs Pre is cringe at her discomfort. Someone else also mentioned this today but the writers really need to be careful with Anu's portrayal. I am all for "I will always stand with you-Anu, but I do not like him touching Pre forcefully!

Anyway, thoughts?
Also I am fairly new to the forum. Name is Simran. Hello!

Totally with you in this. I do try sometimes to look at episodes of other serials and this is more prevalent in the ones 4 Lions makes. All the pushing, shoving, callling women "characterless - and then then the proving you are sorry... it's regressive and totally uncool. Let me make clear Anurag is not in that category YET. But I am not liking his shoving Prerna around. And if Kasauti 2 goes down the Kasauti 1 track then I presume we are going to get some serious maligning of Prerna soon.

I agree the makers are slowly shifting our Gentleman Anu, the kind of character so rare in ITV in the recent past, to the aggressive mode. Though I can kind of find reasons for his attitude, I wish he will switch back to the earlier self. These outbursts scare me coz it shows he can take an easy fall from the perfect lover who stands for what is right.

If we are discussing men in ITV, then men rarely face the consequences of their actions.. It is always the women who bear the brunt of it. Always upon the women to prove theybare not guilty🥱
Almost all the tracks have ML misunderstanding the FL, usually a show of force to 'make them speak the truth', then they regret their actions and their redemption is a half assed sorry that is somehow always accepted. If not accepted, the ML will almost always fall in some danger/get hurt and lo behold, everything is forgiven😕
Call someone characterless? If it happened irl, the person will get two tight slap on their face, but ITV has an endless supply of glycerine for the FL's

This is a common issues of all the shows! Hero manhandling the heroine = romantic scene. How does it even make sense. Till now Anurag has not reached that point yet where all the hero does is manhandle the actress and tries to show as if he cares for her. Its a type of abuse. If people keep showing this as justified action (since the heroine never try to take action against it) then the male audience will misunderstand this and may enact in real life.

True. Creators are not able or not willing to find out different avenues to portray 'desperation'. Manhandling has become such a common and overused trope that people are willing to look over it.

Just few days back I mentioned how this Anurag is different from all the Macho heroes we have on ITV .
The Calm , simple and a gentleman Anurag was a welcome change , and now I see He is slowly moving towards that sick zone .

Honestly I'm this typical Ekta drama where everything is over dramatic , a heroine with sacrificial syndrome and yes very average stale writing , it was only Anurag who stood out ( most credit of it goes to Parth who went beyond the Pathetic script ) but if writers start giving such machostic scenes just to increase TRP/Hotness quotient of the couple they at the end are gonna play with the USP of the Show ANURAG . After a point even Parth won't be able to sell Anurag .

Definitely agree with you two on this! While the majority of the audience is not male, these types of scenarios normalize abusive behavior. When present in the real world, this type of abuse might be neglected as it is "common.
Anyway, I am curious to see how the writers will change the Anu that can do anything for Pre to one that will leave her and not support her...
