At the dance prem and Mukti felt left out. Everyone there was ther as copules so after a few dances, the both sat down, bored out of their skull. Kask was busy dancing with her date whereas Sharad had not left Sneha's side ever since they had arrived.
Prem and Mukti had avoided dancing on slow songs but they had rocked the party, and had been awarded the best couple award. Everyone but they themselves agreed that they made a striking couple, however, for the past half an hour, the DJ had played nothing but slow romantic songs and everyone was engrossed in their own dates.
Prem and Mukti were quiet bored and decided to leave. They bid the others goodbye and head for the car. Sharad and Sneha were barely aware of their absence; they were totlally lost in each other. They passed K-Mart and Mukti yelled at prem to stop.
Mukti: Prem! Stop the car.
Prem: what is it now?
Mukti: I have to use the bathroom. Just stop at K-Mart and I will go and use the bathroom there. Prem made a U-turn and parked outside K-Mart. Mukti rushed inside followed by a reluctant Prem.
Announcement: K-Mart will be closing in a few minutes. All customers are requested to exit the premises shortly.
Prem went in search of Mukti but she was nowhere to be found. She emerged from the mensroom a few minutes later. Prem looked at her quizzically.
Mukti: woh kya hai na ladies room main the lock was broken so I didn't go in there. Prem just grinned at her and both of them were about to leave when the lights were turned off. They looked at each other in surprise then yelled
Prem+Mukti: OH SHIT
They rushed towards the exit but saw the last employee making his way home. They yelled and screamed and tried every possible way to get his attention but alas, fate had something else in store for them.
Prem: this is entirely your fault!
Mukti: my fault? I can't control my bladder if I have to go I have to go the least you could have done was to stop them from closing. Now what are we going to do?
Prem: let us call the police. He went to make the call and returned after a few minutes.
Mukti: well?
Prem: they said that this does not qualify as an emergency therefore we will have to wait till the mall reopens tomorrow.
Mukti: stay here? With you? What about chotima what do we tell her?
Prem: mujhey bhi tumhare saath akelay rehnay ka koi shook nahi per majboori hai. You call up Sneha and tell her to inform ma ke you will be staying over at your friends place and I'll do the same okay?
Mukti nodded in agreement and both of them went off to make the respective calls.
Mukti: this totally sucks. I was planning on finishing reading Pride and Prejudice. I have to submit a report on it and I haven't started yet. Now I'm stuck here with you. Oh God the professor will eat me alive.
Prem: nahin ous nay tumhein kha ker apnay maun ka maza kirkira nahi karma hai!!
Mukti: U
Prem: D!
Mukti turns around and leaves in a huff. Prem feels bad about taunting her and decides to help. He goes off to find the main power switch and once he finds it, he turns on the lights of the mart. He then looks around for Mukti but is unable to find her. An idea strikes his mind and he pages her.
Prem: Miss Mukti Deshmuk to aisle 15!! I request Miss Mukti Deshmuk to grace us with her prescence at aisle 14.
Mukti smiles when she hears this and tentatively makes her way to aisle 14 which is displaying televisions. There are all types of TV's, plasma, big screen and Prem emerges from behind her and says.
Prem: tum book parh nahi saki tou kya hua hum movie dekh letay hain. He picks up the DVD of Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightely.
Mukti is touched by this gesture.
Mukti: tum nay yea sub meray liye kiya. I am so sorry main nay tumhein itna bura bhala bola.
Prem: main nay yea tumhare liye thodi kiya hai! Who main bore ho raha tha aur Keira Knightley itni hot hai tou main nay socha movie dekh letay hain, time bhi pass ho jaye ga and you will shut up for a change.
Mukti gives him a murderous look. If looks could only kill, Prem would be lying dead. During the movie Mukti tells Prem that she is feeling hungry. Prem leaves and returns with Nachos.They both have a lot of fun, watching the movie and stuffing their faces with nachos. Mukti has never felt so comfortable with anyone else nor has Prem and they find themselves confiding into each other.
After all the fun and games, both of them are tired and make their way towards the only bed on display. Without another word, both of them get into bed, each keeping to his/her side. In the morning, Mukti wakes up to find Prems armaround her, and she is sniggled up against him. Four pair of curious eyes stares down at both of them. Mukti shakes Prem to get up but he stubbornly refuses.
Prem: kya hai sonay do na Mother India.
Mukti: Prem main choti ma nahi hoon. Jaldi say outho. Prem sits up and rubs his eye. He looked around and saw an old lady and a man staring down at them.
Old lady: main yahan ke manager hoon. Kya main aap say pooch sakti hoon kay aap dono yahan kya kar rahay hain?
Prem: Mukti darling let me explain. He turns towards the old lady and gives her a killer smile.
Ma'am kya bataon aap ko humare kahani sun ker aap ki aankhon main pani aa jaye ga. Who kya hai na main eek ameer baap ka beta hoon aur yea meri wife lower class family say hai. Mukti has a series of emotions displayed on her face, indigination over being poor, amazement at his lying ability and shock at the story he had spun. The kindly lady had tears in her eys and excused them for staying in the mall. She gave them her blessing and bid them farewell, wishing them luck for their future.
