Avinash Wadhavan regrets his career moves

When television was booming, Avinash Wadhavan had no time to sign TV serials as he was committed to doing regional cinema but now the actor who is doing a serial called Dharamputra, says he is waiting for the day when Ekta Kapoor will give him a call. So does that mean that he is ready to do saas-bahu kind of serials? "I would love to. I like Ronit Roy in Kasautii Zindagii Kay on Star Plus and I would love to do a role of that kind. I'm waiting for Ekta Kapoor to call me," he says.
Now that even SRK and Amitabh Bachchan are doing TV, Avinash says he does regret his career move. "The TV serials that I had refused went on to become huge hits. Now I think that opting for regional films over TV was a wrong career move."
So what's the hitch now? "I haven't really been offered serials from other prime time channels. People still think that I am not ready for TV. When I meet people at parties, they come up to me and
ask me 'Are you ready to do TV?' and I have to tell them that I'm waiting for a good offer," he says.
Does that mean that he is against regional cinema? "No. I'm doing a Bhojpuri film opposite Khushboo. This is my second film. Earlier I had done a film with Ravi Kissan. And I will also be doing a Punjabi film with Rahul Roy." And what about Bollywood? "I'm not getting good offers. Earlier I had done lead roles with big banners and actors like Karisma Kapoor, Divya Bharti and Ayesha Jhulka. So now I don't like the kind of roles they offer me. I don't mind playing a negative role but it should be a powerful character," he says
