Chapter II
"Aur mein tum ko kabi bhi bhool nahin payi. I love you, Prem," Mukti said, her voice wavering.
Prem, leaning against the bedpost, watched Mukti as she paced his room. Her eyeglasses were slipping from her nose. With her overlarge and ugly Dallas Cowboy t-shirt and baggy sweatpants god knew why he found her attractive but he did. However, right now he was not even concerned with her clothes he was too busy hearing what she was saying.
"Go on Miss Basanti," Prem said. "
Mukti glared at him. "You know tumare problem kya hein Prem-"
"I know your problem Miss CID. You talk too much."
"Why you-"
Prem cut her off as he pulled her to him and kissed her. As he was thinking about whether or not he should French kiss her-
Beep! Beep!!
When did Mukti make noises like that when someone was kissing her.
"Prem wake up," some annoying person was shaking him. Wait! That was Debo's
voice. What was that natunkini doing in his dream!
Prem Sharma, no UD, woke up grumpy and mad at the woman standing besides his bed. Yeh Debo ka kya problem hein? Din mein to escape nahin kar sakti hoon lekin when sleeping you would think I would get peace wouldn't you? Lekin yeh crazy ladki se kon escape kar sakta hein? .
He pulled the covers up and sat up. He gave Debo or whatever her name is an evil look. "Thank you for being concerned about me and letting me rest after I was up all night correcting the mistake you and your kaki did."
Debo had the grace to blush at the dry tone in his voice. "Woh kya hein ki Prem-."
He cut her off. "Is that you people are careless and don't do the research before committing yourself to something."
"I know we made a mistake but Prem, sorry UD, it won't happen again," Debo pleaded.
Rolling his eyes he replied, "Forget it Debo its not your fault that you have less brain than a flea."
Because he was rubbing his face he didn't see Debo's eyes flash in anger as well as hurt.
Swinging one leg over the bed he walked towards his walk-in closet and totally missed the look of admiration in Debo's face as she watched his behind. He chose a USC colored sweatshirt and a grey sweatpants.
"Whatever. Look I feel about how I yelled at you yesterday night. It was more Komo's fault than yours. Anyways I'm not going to concern myself with these petty problem. I will go out tonight."
Debo asked, "Where?"
Prem gave her a disgusted look. "Ek mandir where else? C'mon Debo. Aj Saturday hein or mein Arati ko kaha tha ki mein aj usko The Grill mein meet karongi. So ciao babes." He jumped up and touched the top of the doorframe as he went out.
Mukti opened her eyes feeling someone jump on the bed. Sitting up she pushed one stray lock behind her ears. She smiled as she looked at her son.
"Good morning Ashirbad."
Her son finally noticed that she was awake and smiled at her. "Good morning Mummy. How do you feel?"
Smiling, Mukti replied, "Good as soon as I saw my sweet little baby jumping on the bed. Especially when I specifically might have told him not to do that."
He blushed but Mukti had the feeling it was more to do with him being caught than anything else.
"Sorry. Anways mein ap ko breakfast layah hoon."
Mukti got off the bed and towards the bathroom. Rish follwed her. He sat on the edge of the tub while she washed her face and brushed her teeth.
"Mummy is it true that you met a hot guy yesterday and liked him so much and that's why you came late yesterday?"
Mukti heard the fear in his voice that's why she tried not to be exasperated when she asked him after she was done. "Tume yeh kisne kaha?"
"Kasak Auntie ne."
"Somehow I'm not surprised. No baby. You're the only hot guy in my life."
"Promise?"
"Promise. Cross my heart and hope to die may gods punish me if someone found me lie."
Satisfied with the answer from his mother Rish got to his next problem. "So after you eat your breakfast I got you can I put the nail polish on? I was a real good boy this week."
Mukti smiled at the enthusiasm she heard in his voice. Every Saturday Rish got to put nail polish and makeup on her if he had been a very good boy.
"Well if you were such a good boy this week then why were you still up when I came?"
"Well…"
