Prachi: I am catching up on TV

Prachi Desai may be taking big strides in her Bollywood career but television still remains her first love.

So, even after signing films with some famous names in Bollywood, her romance with the small screen goes on. "Even if that means watching a lot of shows whenever I have time," she clarifies and adds, "Now that I am done with the shooting of Rock On, I have been catching up on various TV shows."

Does she miss her Kasamh Se and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa days? "As much as I have loved working for the film, I miss shooting for Kasamh Se. It was the show that brought immense popularity to me and turned me into a household name."

But it was the reality show that brought out her glam side. "For Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, we were required to get the look right for every dance form that we presented. I couldn't have done a salsa number in one of my salwar-kameez ensembles from Kasamh Se. Everyone suddenly sat up and took notice that the simple Bani could also look glam."

Talking of her character Bani and her crackling chemistry with Jay Walia, played by Ram Kapoor, how does she feel when she sees Gurdeep Kohli Punj portraying the role? "It is not the actor who immortalises a character, but the way it is portrayed.

If you change the face of the character, the interest of the audience certainly drops. But this is not to say that Gurdeep is not doing her job well. I love her as an actress and she is a very sweet person. But, if I were to play Juhi in Sanjivani, probably the viewers will not relate to seeing me as a character that she had played so successfully for so many years. Fortunately, Kasamh Se has taken a generation leap and Gurdeep is fitting in well."

Prachi is also upbeat about a commercial that she shot for and quips, "The commercial shows that a woman is capable of having a caring heart and also the toughness required to be a soldier. I completely loved the theme of the advertisement since I believe in the unfathomable strength of a woman."
