Ram Kapoor's great deal

Actor Ram Kapoor who plays Jai Walia in Zee's Kasamh Se is the only guy in a Balaji soap who dominates the women. When asked how he feels the actor says, "Well, I never thought about it, but now I am feeling great. It's very flattering."

Apart from dominating the women, Kapoor has most of the pretty actresses (Rakshanda Khan, Roshni Chopra, who now regrets not marrying him and Prachi, his obedient screen wife) swooning over him. Talking about them he says, "We have a bond now and I like all the three new girls. They are very talented, but I just don't get the time to sit and think about the fact that I am being surrounded by pretty women."😛

As did the Mills and Boon- type love story of Kasamh se. Poor girl Bani and rich tycoon Jai Walia are caught up in a storm of hatred and reluctant attraction. "At the moment the story is poised at an interesting turn. The two are gradually falling in love with each other, but Jai is trying his best to fight it......Yes its melodrama but its different. Jai walia has become a male icon.

"The story is bolder, more modern than Saat Phere which is very traditional. it appeals to younger viewers."

Ekta Kapoor has shifted gears with her Kasamh Se, which is more a love story (as of now) even though it can't do without sexy, viciuos vamp.

this is an excerpt from an article on Zee's new shows...

i hope u guys like it

'Give me a break, I'm only 17'
Praachi Desai, Baani of Kasamh Se, is not what she seems. By Anil Merani

Q: We gather you are not from Mumbai. Would you tell us something about your background?

I come from a close-knit Surat family in Gujarat, which includes my folks and elder sister. I completed my schooling from there and later on, came to Pune for higher studies.

Q: Then how did you land up in Mumbai?

Well, I was studying in Pune and had almost finished my junior college. It so happened that one day I came to know about this audition Balaji was having for Kasamh Se. I casually walked in and auditioned. What followed was a call from the production house and I was here!

Q: That means you left your studies incomplete?

Yes, I had no other option. Either I could complete my studies or I could pursue my dream — of becoming an artiste.

Q: Don't you think you are making a mistake by not completing your studies before leaping into Tellywood?

I know that's true, but then acting is my passion. I do intend to at least complete my graduation though. It would not be in physiology (which I wanted to do earlier) as I would have to do some simpler course given the fact that it would be through correspondence and not through regular college.

Q: But you have already missed your 12th standard board exams this year?

Yes, my acting schedules did not give me enough time to study; I will surely do it in October, though.

Q: How did your parents react to this?

Since my parents knew that I always wanted to act right from childhood, they fully supported me. In fact, my mother has come down from Surat to be with me.

Q: You are playing the eldest of the three sisters, when actually you are the youngest of them all!

Yes, it's funny, but you know how television works. The three of us really jell well; we have loads of fun on the sets. We are like sisters only.

Q: What about real sister?

Yes, I have an elder sister, but because she is only a year older to me, there is no didi type relationship. In fact, we are more like pals. We discuss everything, including boy talk.

Q: How different are you from your character Baani in real life?

Baani is a very serious and responsible girl for whom her sisters are everything. I, on the other hand, am a very carefree, mastikhor kind of a girl. I am simply a happy-go-lucky teenager. Any way, I am not playing my age, maybe I will be like her [Baani] when I reach that age.

Q: As a teenager, can you relate to the kind of family dramas which are going on TV or for that matter you are part of?

No, as a teenager I do find it difficult to accept some of the stuff that they show, but then, I am not the director and that's not my call. So, I just do my work and go home.

Q: Is Kasamh Se like all other family soaps or a bit different?

It's different in the sense that it has a fresh look and feel. Each character has been etched with fineness and grace, which is why the audiences are identifying with it.

Q: When you first entered the field of glamour, were you not scared given the fact that there are talks about a lot of mischief around here?

Yes, I too had heard some of the stories you are referring to. But I still went ahead for, I believe that if you are on the right path, nothing wrong will happen to you.

Q: How do you cope with the fact that on the sets, you are the only teenager around?

On the contrary, it's good because then everybody tries to protect and help you around. I am very fortunate that my entire unit has been very good to me. It's real fun.

Q: Is Bollywood an option in the future?

Cannot say. Give me a break, I am just 17. Let me first find my feet in Tellywood and then time will decide for me.

Q: Would you be ready to expose, then?

No, never. I have not been raised that way and would never ever wear that kind of stuff.

Q: What do you do when you get a break from hectic shooting? Do you party away with friends?

Not really, I am not a party person. The only major party that I have attended so far was the show's launch party. When I do get a little free time (not much though), I love to catch up with my beauty sleep.

Q: And what about the love quotient! Your perfect man?

Kahaan yaar, I am so busy. Where is the time for romance

hope not posted before 😳

Hey everyone,

Not sure if this has been posted yet..... enjoy...

Kake kutting time for Ekta
By: Vickey Lalwani
June 7, 2006

As Kapoor celebrates her birthday today, celebs list some good and bad habits that the producer should indulge in...
Sanjay Gupta
Good habit: Ekta should take a break from work, travel and have a holiday.
Bad habit: Ekta is a teetotaller. She should start having an occasional drink.

Karan Johar
Good habit: My birthday falls on May 25, and Ekta and I are both number 7 Geminis. Sunita Menon says that we both push ourselves too hard in our work. So, I think Ekta needs to chill out and relax a bit.
Bad habit: Ekta is single and she should get a little naughty. The same applies to me as well.

Shrishti Arya
Good habit:
I don't think she lacks any good habit. She is religious. Jeetu uncle and Shobha aunty have brought up both their kids (Ekta and Tusshar) very well.
Bad habit: She should become lazy.

Suresh Menon
Good habit: Ekta should cast me more in her serials. In fact, she should cast me as Tulsi. I have done lot of get-ups in my shows. I'm sure I will look very convincing as Tulsi.
Bad habit: She should wish me on my birthday. It shouldn't be very difficult for her to remember. It's the same as Hrithik Roshan's birthday — January 10.

Shekhar Suman
Good habit: Ekta should come out from the saas-bahu syndrome.
Bad habit: Ekta should fast-forward her serials by 40 years… err… 10 years. Everybody from the previous generation will be out of the serial.

Pooja Bedi
Good habit: Ekta needs to travel a lot. That would bring her in contact with other cultures, which in turn will help her to go beyond melodrama in her soaps.
Bad habit: Ekta is earning loads of money. She should become a spendthrift. It would definitely help our economy.

Ashish Jagtiani
Good habit: Ekta should learn the meaning of the word 'kheecho' and then seriously try to avoid doing it.
Bad habit: Ekta should smoke cigars. All female bosses should be able to blow smoke rings during negotiations.

Navjot Singh Sidhu

Good habit: Ekta is 31. She should marry and settle down. Other-wise, the candles will cost more than the cake.
Bad habit: Ekta should continue Kyunki… for another five years.

And the winner is...

Who's the most promising of the lot?
Naman Shaw 52%
Indraneil 33%
Gagan Arya 8%
Angad Bedi 6%
Total number of votes cast : 1402

Naman Shaw aka Pushkar of Kasam Se hits bulls eye as 732 viewers consider him the most happening face on the TV circuit. Indraneil follows suit with the support of 460 votes and Gagan Arya manages to win the hearts of 118 viewers. It seems our last man, Angad Bedi, with 87 votes, will need some more time to prove his spunk!

Roshni Chopra engaged
By: Shaheen Parkar
May 1, 2006

Roshni Chopra
It was just a normal day off from her Kasamh Se shoot to catch up with family in New Delhi.

Roshni Chopra, who plays Pia in this Balaji daily on Zee, boarded the late-night flight to the capital, on Wednesday. At the airport, her director beau, Siddharth Anand Kumar, arrived to pick her up.

But as the car reached the lane near her home at DLF, Roshni was greeted with a fireworks display, with Siddharth slipping an engagement ring on her finger.

Like the movies

"It was exactly like in the movies. I was completely taken by surprise. It was an overwhelming moment. It was around 1.30 am when I reached home and saw fireworks going off. Suddenly, I saw my family and the neighbours cheering. I had not even imagined that I would be engaged this way," says Roshni.

"Despite the late-hour and all the noise of the fireworks display, the neighbours didn't mind in the least. They thought it was the most romantic thing they had ever seen. It was like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge unfolding in real life.

Though my entire family knew about it, they kept it a well-guarded secret from me. They even popped open champagne bottles and my father was all equipped with a camera to capture the special moment."

Roshni has known Siddharth for six years. "We have done theatre together. Our families also know each other and we moved to Mumbai for professional reasons," says Roshni, who has acted in Siddharth's film, Let's Enjoy.

'Ring'marole

The actress returned to Mumbai on Saturday. "I had taken a day off, and when I called to say I was engaged, they thought I was joking. But I had a ring on my finger," laughs Roshni, who is undecided on when she will tie the knot. "Right now we have not set any date," she says.

Incidentally in Kasamh Se, too, she was proposed to, in a similar manner.

Roshni's UK degree

Roshni Chopra in the 2006 British Council calendar
Roshni Chopra studied for her masters in communications at the University of Leeds, England, in 2003-04.

It was at Leeds, that her interest in film and TV developed. "I learnt a great deal about the media industry, globally.

It is a great investment to go and study in the UK. I did not just earn a degree, I got and education for life, made bonds with people and became the person that I am proud of being today."

After her return to Delhi, she began working with Seagrams, "till I anchored the Indo-Pak test match with Charu Sharma, which led me to acting."

We met during the making of Ghar Ek Mandir and hit it off instantly. But at that time we were just friends. I was married and Ram was also in a relationship. We shared a very good on-screen chemistry. Everyone told us that. But we used to laugh it away. Even after the serial was over we continued to be the best of friends. It was only last year that Ram told me that he's actually in love with me. He proposed to me in March and we have decided to get married next year in February. Actually, he was instrumental in my getting back to acting. Jeetu Chawla who's producing Dhadkan has already shot one episode with some other actress playing Chanchal. But they apparently weren't happy with the result so they were looking for another actress. He asked Ram whether I would be willing to act. When Ram put the question to me I did not agree immediately. But Ram cajoled me to do it for his sake and I was in it. Once I was in front ot the camera I just loved it. It was great being back.

She's popular as pretty Pia from Ekta Kapoor's current hit series, Kasamh Se. But Roshni Chopra who's never made a portfolio is surprised to have reached this far.

Kasamh Se Roshni

Who's that girl? It was the question on every viewer's mind ever since she made her appearance in the serial Kasamh Se. Petite and pretty, both boys and girls took an instant liking to her gamine charms. Meet Roshni Chopra or Pia, as everyone knows her now. "All this attention, it's unbelievable," smiles this new kid on the block. "Even little kids shout 'Pia' wherever I go."

But barely a year ago Roshni was like any other girl thinking of what life had in store for her. A graduate in Mass Communication from the University of Leeds, London, Roshni was working in a corporate house in Delhi when cricket commentator, Charu Sharma spotted her in a play. He promptly asked her to co-host the Pakistan-India series with him, which she did. And that was the beginning of a new innings for her. "After that, I must have got a million calls to anchor shows! And even though I had never imagined myself in front of the camera, I did not want to give up on the opportunity to do so. I packed my bags and landed in Mumbai!" she grins.

Roshni had barely settled down when she got a call from Ekta Kapoor's office. Ekta had seen her in a short film called Enjoy and wanted her to play the role of Pia in Kasamh Se. "I knew that every day hundreds of wannabes drop their pictures at her production house and here I was being offered a role without even a portfolio. I immediately said yes."

Roshni is not hesitant to add that she is very unlike her character Pia. While Pia is confused, unsure and always at a loss when it comes to taking decisions, Roshni is very sure of what she wants in life and extremely focused. "Initially I was a bit skeptical about the character. But then I realized that the challenge lies to play a personality opposite of what you are in real life. Today I love going on the set every morning and transforming myself into Pia."

The actress can be spotted on four shows on television - Kasamh Se, Cinemascope, and two seasonal sports shows. "Television is a really popular and big medium today. I prefer to do good stuff on TV rather than inane roles in films. But if something good comes along I would love to do films," she says.

A Yari road resident, Roshni loves the openness of the locality. A Delhite at heart, she also loves Punjabi cuisine and one can spot her eating garlic chicken at 'The Dhaba' at Oshiwara. Extremely busy with a tight work schedule, she feels that she is very fortunate to be where she is. "I have never got my portfolio clicked. But work just seemed to come along. I don't let go of opportunities, but accept the best that is offered… and here I am!"

Naman says amen to Ekta

Naman Shaw, who's recently entered Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Nakul is ready to do anything for Ekta 'madam'. "The length of the role doesn't matter, I will be there the moment she calls," he gushes. Naman, who is already doing a Balaji soap Kasamh Se, is the winner of the Best Smile in the Grasim Mr India contest. A 22-year old from Kolkata, he got his break on television with Kasamh Se in which he plays the goody-goody Pushkar who is currently undergoing troubled times professionally and personally with his wife Pia. In Kyunki.. however, he's the kind who will go to any extent to achieve success, even cheat to win a contract. He couldn't have got more contradictory roles at the start of his career. No wonder, Naman says amen to whatever Ekta says...
