I felt that your last flashback had the basics to set the context of the story for the future...You know more like the initial primer....primer... yep primer is the right word...My thoughts about Bani's childhood that its very unfortunate that she has to go through these situations because of the position her parents were in and I think Kiran kind of took the child under her wings and let her grow. May be...But I am still wondering as to what made these two marry. and of course why are they so tongue tied with each other ? I guess I will have wait for your next parts to see all these revealed. Absolutely...and am looking forward to it. Cant help asking, can I hope to read something new in the next couple of hours ?

The interaction of dadi and masi with Bani was great. And how Jai actually first sees her. I guess Krishna was trying to get her husband to find out about Bani's school registration. 😊 Yeshhh.... 😳Can't wait to read more flashbacks....

Flashback 1
1.5 Dreams and Reality going hand in hand
Next day came as usual for Bani – she woke up, she watched her didi getting ready to go to school, her mother making breakfast, her father going to early work and her sitting without any work. She felt not to get up from the bed. But she couldn't; her mother did not like sitting in the bed after waking up. She sighed at her helplessness and went to take bath. She was already bored when she came to kitchen to fetch her breakfast. She nibbled her breakfast with utter disinterest. She saw Pia leaving to the school and waved a half-minded bye. Kiran became busy with the cleaning work. She felt left-out.
She went to the room and picked her drawing notebook and went backyard as usual. She was bored to the core.
When Krishna came backyard, Bani was not in her usual inquisitive mood. Krishna understood that Bani was still worried about her admission. She tried to lift her spirits, but did not succeed in the attempts successfully.
When Kiran called Bani for lunch from inside the house, Bani started to run. Krishna stopped her saying she wanted to meet her mother; won't she introduce her mother to her? Bani replied positive and went inside to fetch her mother.
Krishna saw Bani's mother coming out. Krishna gave her a friendly smile, but Kiran returned with a hesitant uncomfortable smile. Krishna introduced herself and told her not to hesitate for anything to ask her. Krishna purposely started the topic of Bani's admission. Kiran tried to change the topic saying her husband was trying. Krishna offered to help saying the Principal of the local Public School was a friend to their family. Kiran did not reply anything, and let go the topic. Krishna sensed some discomfort in her while speaking, but ignored it thinking strangeness is the reason. After a while, Krishna invited them to her house and went back to the house.
Kiran's mind drifted into her conversation with Krishna again and again, while having lunch. She saw Bani happily having the lunch. Kiran lost trust in the people due to the past incidents. It had left a scar in her mind permanently. Whenever she came across any outsider, her mind frightened. She did not want to land up at the same time. With a lot of difficulty, they have saved their living and she did not want to risk again. Nishikant had recovered from the fall; she was yet to make her recovery.
Sometimes, when she saw Bani, she felt guilty for not able to give attention to Bani; but at the same time, all the struggle and troubles they underwent came before her eyes on seeing Bani. What she never knew or understood was, in case of Bani, she was more than late to handle the situation with her hands. Bani had started to see the world with her eyes without being taught. She had started to develop her own feelings, emotions, fears, threats and above all dreams.

Bani asked her mother in the afternoon whether she could go to Krishna aunty's home. Kiran hesitated for a second. She sensed Krishna was a fine lady, but she does not want her children to be close with the neighbors. At last, she allowed Bani, but said she should return back soon and that she should not trouble them. Bani agreed to everything her mother said because for her, her mother giving the permission was a big thing.
This time, she went to her Krishna aunty's house by the front door with a big smile – first because she did not climb the wall and come there, and second, because, she had got her mother's permission before coming. When Krishna opened the door, she was pleased to see Bani at the front door. She understood seeing Bani's face that the girl is back on track.
That afternoon, Bani became the source of entertainment to all the ladies in the house. She went behind everyone where ever they went. She was intrigued with the house for ceveral reasons – firstly, she was seeing a pretty big family for the first time, secondly, so many people were giving her attention, thirdly, so many people speaking affectionately with her, fourthly, so many people were pampering her, fifthly, somebody was answering to her questions patiently and et cetera.
Like the previous day, everyone pampered her. The ony difference was today, Shobhana masi and Jigyasa didi too had joined the gang. They made her speak and enjoyed the time. After all, for them, after so many years, a ten-year old child was present in their house. It reminded them the days Jai and Jigyasa used to be in that age.
When it became tea-time, Krishna went into the kitchen to make tea for all. Bani followed her and try to see what she was doing. But because she was short, she was not able to get a clear view of the happening on the gas stove. She waited for a while, then climbed on the kitchen cabinet and sat to get a clear view.
Krishna wondered what was wrong with this girl 'kahin par bhi chad jaati hai!' When she saw milk boiling in awe, she smiled automatically.
For the first time, Bani looked at the milk boiling. She forgot to close her eyes. She liked the sight when the creamy layer was pushed upwards to the rim of the vessel. She was like 'wow'. When she found Krishna had switched off the gas, she looked from the vessel to Krishna.
Krishna smiled at her, "Dood ubal gaya…" while taking the things necessary for preparing tea.
Again, Bani watched carefully how Krishna was making tea. Seeing her concentration, Krishna thought her grasping power was high. Yes, she was right. Bani had amazing grasping power.
Krishna poured the tea into cups and took in a tray. Bani insisted that she would carry it. Krishna gave in to her request. She carefully carried the tray in her hands and placed on the table around which everyone was seated.
"Areh wah, Bani leke aayi hai. Dekhte hai, kaise taste karta hai." Masi said and took her cup. "Arey wah, bahut achchi bani hai!" Masi said after sipping. Bani shied a little as she took her cup.
"Tumhein leke aane ki kya zaroorat hai? Aaram se baito, aish karo!" Dadi said while taking her cup of tea.
"Maaji, sab aapki tarah toh nahin hote naa. Dekhiye, Bani kitni pyar se humare liye, chai leke aayi hai. Aur aap bhi naa…" Jigyasa teased her mother-in-law.
"Haan, haan, pata hai. Sab mere tarah nahin hote. Aur jaanti hoon ki tumhari tarah bhi nahin hote." Dadi said casually and continued having her tea.
Jigyasa frowned and thought, when would she win her mother-in-law in words. Krishna and Shobhana shook their heads at their teasing. Bani giggled silently, when dadi winked ather.
After a while, Jigyasa left to school to pick up Anu. Meanwhile, Masi was mixing the flour for the dinner and dadi was cutting the vegetables, where as Krishna was busy with cleaning. She dragged a stool and sat with them.
After some time, Jigyasa came back with Anu. Bani peeped from the kitchen to see Anu (another new member!). Krishna hit her head slightly and asked her to go out and see. Bani grinned and went out. She looked at the small girl. She giggled thinking someone was smaller and shorter than her. She went and touched the girl. For some strange reason, she felt the urge to keep up distance with the girl. She wondered why? She introduced herself to Anu. Anu instantly smiled at her. Bani responded her smile.
Suddenly she remembered something. She ran to the kitchen, "Aunty, kal raat ko terrace pe kisse baat kar rahe the?"
Krishna, in the midst of doing her work, "Woh… woh mera beta Jai hai."
Bani said, "Oh!"
Krishna said, "Kyun kya hua?"
Bani shrugged and said, "Kuch nahin. Bas aise hi." And she ran out of the kitchen.
At five-thirty in the evening, Uday Walia returned. Anu and Bani were playing hide and seek inside the house. Uday Walia got a banged welcome. Uday slightly lost the balance in the course of supporting both him and a girl… "Sambhalke beta!" A girl… Uday looked at the girl. She was looking at him scared. Anu was giggling at the collision from a distance.
Uday looked at the girl wearing a cotton frock, now with a scared expression in her face. Uday smiled to relax her. In the mean time, hearing to the collision and Anu's giggles, Jigyasa came out. Looking at their standing position, she guessed what might have happened.
"Papa!" she called him. "Yeh bani hai." She introduced Bani to him.
Uday's eyes widened a little in surprise. "Achcha, toh aap hai Bani!" He held her shoulders and said, "Bahit khushi huyi aapse milkar."
Bani smiled at him pleasantly. But she was little surprised of why uncle was calling her 'aap' in stead of 'tum'. "Uncle, aap mujhe 'aap' kehkar kyun bula rahe hai? Main toh bahut chotti hoon aapse!" she asked wondering.
Uday was little taken aback, "Woh kya hai naa, pehli baar mil raha hoon na isliye. Is ke baad nahin boloonga. Teekh hai?" he said touching her cheeks. Bani nodded smilingly. "Waise mere paas ek khush khabri bhi hai aa… tumhare liye..." he said as he led Bani inside holding her along her shoulders, while Jigyasa took Anu inside.
"Mere liye…!" Bani wondered aloud.
"Haan tumhare liye…" Uday winked. "Tumhare school ki admission ke baare mein."
"Aapne baat ki?" Krishna came from inside.
"Haan, baat ki. Principal ne ise apne papa ke saat kal school mein aake milne ko kaha hai." He hit Bani's cheek lightly.
"SACH!!!!!" her eyes bulged out.
Krishna laughed at her. Bani jumped in joy and excitement. She hugged Krishna tightly. Her laughter and innocent happiness spread through the whole house. Everybody's face glowed with smiles and laughter.
"Thanks you, uncle!" she beamed with happiness at Uday.
"Koi baat nahin, beta. You are welcome." He touched Bani's face affectionately.
Bani danced through the whole house. Krishna could not help wonder at the girl enjoying at the slightest happiness of her life. But she agreed with one thing that all her emotions are little contagious.
She started to leave for her home, when Krishna asked her to wait for sometime till Jai and Aditya came. She stayed back in half-mind not wanting to hurt her aunty.
To her luck, Jai and Aditya came back soon as it was in the middle of the week. Krishna introduced both of them to Bani. Bani shied a little at both of them. But with Aditya, her shyness vanished away in a matter of few minutes. Aditya definitely knew how to make people feel comfortable. He congratulated her for her school admission.
Jai came to her and said, "Congratulations, Bani."
Bani looked at him intently. She recognized him immediately. He was the person, whom she saw in the terrace, the previous night. She remembered him watching her the previous night. She mumbled a small 'Thanks' to him and shouted a heavy 'Bye' to everyone and left running to her home through the front door.
