just read both parts and i am just sitting here truly amazed!!!!!!!!!! it was simply a heart-touching story!!!!

Chap 3:

Mumbai
31st Dec 1989,

(Picture this scene in sepia….*it makes a nice effect*)

It was New Year's Eve in 'Le Meridian'… you could see a young man in his late teens on stage…

He had on black Bellbottoms… (It was the hippest thing at that time…in India at least) with a white shirt with those old fashioned ruffles…

(I think you get mah point…he was dressed in hippie kinda clothes… ) his black shoulder length hair was slightly curled at the tips…

He used to sing in le meridian and other big hotels as a part time singer…

He was singing his favourite song by elvis…

He did not always get a standing ovation from such a big crowd…it was a big day for him…he was going to propose to his girlfriend that day…

"Will you marry me Nisha???" he said kneeling in front of her….
"Jai…I'm so sorry…but the thing is…" started nisha…

Jai felt his world…all the dreams he had of spending his entire life with nisha all came crashing down upon him life a ton of bricks…

"Why???" Jai asked coldly…

"Jai I know that I am your girlfriend..but I never promised to marry you or anething like that… i mean its just a part of college…I am from a orthodox Brahmin family… and well I can't marry you… try to understand our relationship was just a..a… well Just a Fling… I mean I come from a very rich family and…how can I marry a loser like you?? Who doesn't even have a secure future…and is a singer in some stupid hotel… how can you take care of my expenses??? My lifestyle is totally different from yours and…well our relationship was nice and fun… but its better that it stops right there…" said nisha…

"Then why did you even agree to be my girlfrien…"Jai started

"You fool, I agreed only because it was my last year and if I didn't have a boyfriend my popularity would have taken a nose dive…I was desperate that's why other wise why would I have ever dated a loser like you…

tumhari aukhad hi kya hai???tum ho kaun??? You became popular only because I dated you….otherwise who would give a pauper like you a second look??? How could you ever think that I would marry you???"

she gave him a look of contempt and walked away…just walked out of his life…leaving him heartbroken..

That was the day he decided to work hard…become something in life…he never forgot that day ever in his life…He toiled away making his sweat and blood one( I just translated a hindi idiom…Khoon Pasina Ek karna…if you are confused with the term)

He worked hard not only for his parents and family but also for himself…He had promised himself that he would show Nisha what he could do…He wanted to show her that he was not a loser…

Doing odd jobs like working as a part time mechanic, singer, paperboy and what not he saved money so that he could pay the college fees…

His parents Uday and Krishna Walia had come from Bhatinda in Punjab to try their luck in Mumbai… Uday had fairly good education and had gotten a degree in MBA…but had absolutely no luck in business…

He would always manage to get fired from every job that he could find because of his fearful temper… They had always been short of resources; therefore Jai had to fend for himself….

But that fateful day had taught him to be strong and had brought in him a desire to be independent, to be successful in his life which, changed him from a young guy with an absolutely carefree attitude to a young responsible man….

Within another 10 years the same broken young man had transformed into india's Top Business man Jai Walia…

On 31st Dec 1999, in the famous hotel Le Meridian at the New Year 's Eve bash he saw her again…

"So this is what people call destiny" he contemplated…

isha, the same girl who had so unceremoniously crushed his juvenile heart, who had called him a loser 10 years ago in the same hall…..

She had been reduced to a mere waitress… "What games Fate plays with us" he mused to himself as he approached her…

"Long time no see nisha" he said…

the tray of glasses that she held almost fell to the floor… The once beautiful face was now pale and she had developed dark circles…the once pompous beauty had been transformed into this middle class waitress…

"hmm…I heard that you got married to Vishal Taneja….and now are a proud mother of two???? But what's the matter how come you are here???" He asked although he already knew the answer….

She remained silent…

"Oh ya how could I forget…I took over Vishal's Business and threw him onto the streets….must have slipped my mind that YOU were his wife" He said sarcastically….

Nisha winced at the cruel words….

"Do you remember what you said to me exactly ten years ago in the same hall and on the same day????

Well I should be thankful to you because if you hadn't done that I would still have been a singer in this hotel…. I am what I am because you made me realize that I was nothing more than a LOSER…
Thank you Nisha…Have a Happy New Year…" He said as he walked away from her never to look back even once….

It was the first time in 18 years that he had listened to the same song….

'Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley'

This time it was a young man in his late teens singing on stage in Le Meridian…

Jai Walia sat at the Bar a glass of whisky in his hand…

He smiled at the words Heartbreak Hotel…for it was the name that he had given to Le Meridian…

Whenever he had been sad he would always come here for a drink….

Just as the song finished he headed for home somehow managing to walk out as he was totally drunk…….

Author's Note: I know guys that I had decided to post another chapter only after 13th but, I had already penned this down so decided that this can be my new year's gift for ya guys …. I wanted to show JW's past life too and here it is……. So Happy New Year…
