I think that if you are going to put 20 characters in a serial, they all must have a purpose which furthers the story, not hinders it.

It seems to me that Rano, ranveer, rashi, anu, her husband, etc are all kept in the serial so that if the creatives feel like changing the story they can start a new track easily. and if a new character is introduced, halfway through their character-development, they are either killed off or just sent to jail (as in tarun's case).

Or if ekta can't find new characters she can always show another one of JW's "past mistakes" etc to keep it going. It gets ridiculous after a while. I think even AD is being wasted right now.

Very little planning goes into the making of such serials. Seems that the focus is commercialism and gloss, not soul.

sorry dear dunno ur name ,but my whole annoyance is bcoz of that,she has not justified a single character or their motiive....and why cannot be the story interesting minus a raaz attached ...how cld it have been less interesting if AD was introduced as a doctor who comes across bani in the asylum comes to know her and helps her out giving her a new lease ..and then his inner battle over her as his patient and the woman he is falling in love ...

AD 's character did have a lot of porential minus the raaz also there was no need for that ,they cld simply have shown him helping bani get her revenge and her kids,tarun's track too wld have been interesting but ?????what did we get a new meaning of OCD

Shoba...sweety...hmm...correction that they are prime time shows...but arent they rated? I guess my point was that some of the content on KS since the last few months (lets nclude the kissing marathon of June 19th 2006 too) is not something thats appropriate for family viewing.

unfortunately mandating ratings is not upto Ekta, but Indian TV board...I guess we have a long way to go as far as fixing some issues with the TV system in India goes.

I think that an entire episode dedicated to bedroom action classes as non-family friendly viewing... but seeing as that episode was somehow acceptable for most, I cannot see how and why other scenes are being termed as non-family friendly.

So therefore I really do not understand where all the non-family friendly viewing issue is coming from. 😕

However, i guess I raise this issue now, since the content has been on high increase of late, especially the whole evil trumphing on good...or not the excessive bullying... But again, its my POV. I never asked you to agree...

Mango, I think your tastes are different from the women who obviously fell in love with the JB love story. Since you are not so romantically inclined, you might think, what's the big deal?

The truth of the matter is, many of the women in the world are romantically inclined and love watching sweet, sensitive portrayal of the 'LOVE'.

There are a lot of shows that are saas, bahu and saazish, so lot of the original KS fans flocked to this unusual drama that involved a true love story.

I don't know what you have against RK, he is a good actor and he is considered to be good looking by many women on the forum. I think he has a lovely face!!

I personally think that the story sucks right now, it has nothing to do with the entry of AD or the weight of RK. It is too negative and the story is riddled with too many loopholes and bloopers.

Rivs pointed out some blatant things that are so unrealistic, it's kind of funny...for instance, what are the sisters doing drugging each other? Is this a tag me & tag you game?

Why are they showing RK with his present face twenty years ago?

Why couldn't Bani ask AD that she will marry him one month later, before she sat in the mandap?

Why do they keep calling Pia, Mrs. Walia, when she is not?

Why is an actor who is truly good being given dumb dialogues to recite?

I think we are doing disservice to Rivya's post by calling each other names, insulting each other and being sarcastic.


If people like action, thrillers then there are so many such dramas out there, if people wants mysteries, there are so many that are out there...but true romance - not a whole lot, so if I am feeling bad that KS is ruined, then let us wallow in that sorrow, rather than laugh at us - 😭

Also, if u really want mystery and suspense or horror or family drama...why not switch to those that cater these than try to switch something that was not originally intended to be any of those...but just a love story and the lives of the three sisters...

I wish that some one starts another good drama, a true love story, so we can all go there, and for one...I wouldn't mind taking myself there!! 😕

Let's not diss YashRaj yet, we don't know what the potential is...a good person doesn't make hasty judgments saying it will be a failure without actually trying the waters.

May I point out, again nicely ( 😃 😃 😃 ) that RK is not that bad, he does have a lot of fans out here, so respect their feelings without being unduly harsh. Did you know that Marlon Brando was considered one of the sexiest men around and he was a big man? There are others I could point out!

I dont find June 19th vulgar, but i dont even say it was most appropriate for primetime indian shows where the whole family watches it together...

Nice post. Catchy title. I have just one issue with your post.

If we are talking family values here and watching TV with family members, the deterioration in the quality of the show started way back when they showed what was then a ONS on Karva Chauth of all nights. How many times have you seen a man come out of the bedroom of one sister and go that of another sister, that too on Karva Chauth? Is it OK to watch that scene with a child or a parent?

Abha- I understand u are pretty new to this forum,even though u have bee around for long...but trust me I can vouch for all that there was a lot of disgust shown for this episode too... the same applies to the other scenarios below....

But frankly, when I make a post you dont expect me to remember and point out every single time I have been disgusted.

A second time to feel awkward about watching the show with parents and children was when JW lay between Pia and Bani, Pia placed his hand on her stomach and Bani slept on. Imagine watching that scene with your teenage daughter or son or your parents who have always shaded you from ugly reality.

A third time to question family values came when JW kissed Pia's forehead and said mera bachcha, an unborn fetus that moved him to such a great extent, now a boy who turns him stone cold. Not once have they shown JW with any feeling for Veer especially since he had so much feelings for that very same kid while in the womb.

A fourth time I questioned family values was the time when post revelation bani went into shock and JW wanted to bring her out of her shocked state. How do watch a guy mouth dialogues such as pia meri zaroorat hai, she is a woman or I look at her as a woman. I understand that the intentions were noble and I know that the path to hell is paved with noble intentions.

I teach my kids to tell the truth even if they get in trouble. What kind of family values are they going to learn when they constantly see either one or the other spouse lying to each other? What kind of a dysfunctional image will they see of married life?

Now suddenly with AD's entry we are looking for family drama which we can watch with our kids. Not wanting AD in the show is one thing but connecting only his track with repulsion is disingenuous.

Can I say that this is just pure twisting of my words? Please do go back to the archives and search for some of the other posts made by me, Bavie (since she is a good friend of yours) and other here. I dont think the retaliation is new, but if you find it beneficial to twist my post to make it a AD bashing and thus defending him post...I am all game for it. 😃

The story turned rotten to the core way before that. I personally am looking for the pre ONS story that I loved very much. I lost family values in what is supposedly a bitter sweet love story on Karva Chauth and haven't found them since. My point is if we are watching the show for cultural confirmation or for espousing Indian culture, we are using the wrong medium to begin with.

You forgot, Rano being forced to wear white, and being blasted at for giving birth to a handicapped child. We have voiced against this too...so its not just JB for me..or most of us.😭😊

And if you have ever watched Ekta's or any others production house dramas which come after 08:00 pm onwards they are all PG rated dear.

All dramas do deal with real life, things like older men falling with younger woman do happen, they are men like Jai who fall in love with girls young enough to be their daughter, give gifts to them without even disclosing their own identity, calling woman bad names, rapes happen to female by outsiders or even their own family members etc.

I never contested that or overlooked that.😃 But if I am not wrong a while ago, you were with me saying that if something like this is shown (rape) show how to deal with it too, right?

The worst thing that they showed according to all, was the two marriages in the same day🤢 dear, but the rest?????😕

There are females like Pia in real like too who are over the top, ambitious, have affairs with their own jijus, get married to them, maybe rape them by drugging them, etc.

They are people in real life who are obssessive too and will do what ever it take them to get what they want, be it money, position or person.

There are sisters like Jigs too and lovers or wife wanting to take revenge too.

Thus calling this shown a family show being ruined all of a sudden is wierd dear.😕

Did I actually question the family values for the first time? You should know, I hope so given our long association. But cant help it if you feel this away about what I said.😕

June 19th though beauitfulkly pictuerised by Ekta teams was not a family viewing thing now was it, nor the whole ONS fiasco, Rape, one sister sleeping with her jiju and sister in the same room, etc that have already been mentioned dear.

Is RR enter so bad that all the past things that are wrong are put on his door , that the show is not a family show any more dear, it was runined long back before RR even made his entry dear.

Aaah...am really surprised you too twisted my words such...but I dont know what to say...I did not expect this from you of all the people on the forum, coz I thought u knew me and understood me the best (besides my PIC who is apparently missing)

Thus KS never was a family show at all and things that Ekta shows does happen in real life too but in Dramas the things are over exaggerated.

One can ask that the story improve etc but saying that it is not a family show all of a sudden is very suprising in deed, as it never was dear and no 9 o'clock show are family shows at all.

Though in India and even Pakistan, young girls do watch these shows with great relish and as Shoba said so beautifully in her post, values are given and instilled in Kids by the parents , to know or differentiate between what is right and what is wrong.

And showns like this should be watched for entertainment and if the story is way to replusive one can always watch something else, that is more pleasant or liked. And switch back to the show when the story improves, by giving it a break.

Since JW's shradhanjali has already been performed, I think that character has to be removed first. 😉 And then the Dixit sisters can run rampage with their next bakra- poor Lord K. And Moti Mom and we can take shradh lessons from the original specialist. 😉
