Bani could see on the front page there was Anu & Rohit's photograph with Jai Walia and Anu's parents, the caption saying Jai Walia's niece got married and the rich & famous of the city attended it….
Bani felt ashamed, she knew her father was an honest police officer who had to undergo many hardships to maintain his reputation, which Bani knew he valued the most in his life…
I am sorry Papa, mai saach me nehi janti thi, infact Anu is so down to earth girl……

Bani had planned to take rest for a while before making preparations for college the next day…instead she opened the internet to search for Jai Walia…
After going through many clippings at last she found a substantial article on him…..Jai Walia's father worked in a middle level position in one of the Multinationals in Mumbai. He was an engineer by profession ……While returning from late night movie with his family one evening he found Aditya Deshmukh lying on the road injured. Aditya was around 15 at that time. Uday Walia took him to the nearest hospital and got him treated. Since Aditya refused to divulge his details Uday Walia took him to his house for the night….Aditya stayed for 3 days instead and then informed the family his true identity….he was the only child of Manohar Deshmukh alias Mano Bhai, the Satta Don of Dadar Region in Mumbai….infact he was injured in a fight with a rival group…Uday Walia being a gentleman took Aditya to his residence. His parents were too glad to see their son alive. In three days Aditya had formed a bond with Uday Walia's 2 children, Jigyasa 14 and Jai 9. From time to time he kept on visiting them regularly…their household was very different from his own, in every possible way. The Walia family treated him as their own member, encouraging him to take up his studies again and teaching him to speak in proper language i.e not in the slang he was used to speaking in….and after he graduated, Uday Walia got him a job in his own company.
One fine day Aditya & Jigyasa eloped and got married….Jai Walia was a brilliant student who went to Stanford University in USA to do his engineering under full scholarship…after 1st year when he was returning to India for a holiday his parents died on road collision on their way to the airport. The Deshmukh's became his pillar of strength ….later he came to stay with them during his holidays….after his engineering, he had enrolled in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA for Masters and he was visiting India once again…and it is during this time Mano Bhai was gunned down by a rival gang, Jai Walia took over the reigns, it seems he had became quite close with Mano Bhai during his visits to India.
Mano Bhai's strength was limited to in and around Dadar area. He mainly ran illegal gambling centers but Mano Bhai had another face, he was some sort of a law keeper, helped the local poor to solve their family, marital, drinking etc problems alongwith helping their daughters' to get married and sons' to get job…he was not very polished, had come to Mumbai as a immigrant, his this aspect attracted Jai Walia. Though Mano Bhai was wanted for kidnapping and few murder cases but nothing was proven….
Jai Walia broadened Mano Bhai's territory….though he closed down the illegal gambling business but he entered the share market, soon he was making enough money to go into other businesses which he mostly did under partnership with other people i.e he became their financial partner….he has subsequently moved the family to a property developed on a mill area in Parel where he has built a huge multi-storied housing his family, offices etc….
Then what makes him a DON…well Jai Walia has carried forward his mentor's work for people. He has become the law keeper in his own way and at times they are not exactly the way the official law keeper would like things to happen….his area has spread now beyond Mumbai, villagers alongwith the locals come to meet him with their problems…every morning in his Durbar Hall he meets at least 100 people and he has also become a kingmaker, due to his vicinity with all major politicians with of different parties. Infact without his approval, no party can form government in Mumbai….he is clever and cunning, during power fights, the party which has his support always comes out as winner….
