Part Six:

It had been two days since Bani had been in the hospital and with each coming day, she would get a little closer to recuperate from what had happened. Bani would get bored by the second in the hospital room. It was a big change from the Mental Asylum. She had gotten used to the noise. The silence she heard in the hospital room was unbearable. She wondered how some patients could stand staying here for so long. It had barely been two days for her, and she was ready to leave.

Dr. Kapoor would come in occasionally and check up on Bani. She was recovering very quickly, indeed. Dr. Kapoor was warned about Bani. She had been told that Bani was mental and had been warned about Bani's sever violence. But Dr. Kapoor had seen anything but violence. Whenever she went into Bani's room, Bani was always nice and obliged to everything that she was told. Dr. Kapoor wondered why anyone would think someone as nice as Bani would be a mental patient. Dr. Kapoor decided to ask Bani about the matter.

Dr. Kapoor entered Bani's room and saw her laying there staring at the ceiling.

Dr. Kapoor: a bit bored, are we Bani?

Bani: (looking at Dr. Kapoor now) yes, Dr.

Dr. Kapoor: so, how are you feeling Bani

Bani: oh, I am doing wonderful. Was there a particular reason for your visit Dr.?

Dr. Kapoor: I guess I should stop beating around the bush. Bani, I wanted to ask you something?

Bani: yes, Dr. Please, do ask.

Dr. Kapoor: Well, Bani, when u came here, I got a full report of your previous medical history and it is written in there, that you are a mental patient. Many people had warned me about your violence, but I fail to see any of that. You seem to be a normal person.

Bani started lowering her gaze and there was a hint of sadness on her face. Dr. Kapoor noticed the sadness that seemed to be shown in her expression.

Dr. Kapoor: Bani, is there something that you would like to tell me. Like how exactly you ended up in that mental asylum.

Bani remained silent. Dr. Kapoor continued

Dr. Kapoor: Bani, don't think of me as your doctor, but think of me as your friend. Sometimes, it seems hard to tell someone you know the deepest of your fears and secrets, yet it seems easy to tell to a complete stranger. No one has been able to figure out the reason behind that, but my theory is that a complete stranger can not judge you, while someone you know has already had a judgment of the type of person you are and expects you to fulfill their expectations. Now Bani, either you can keep all the pain and suffering that you've been through bottled up inside until you can't take it anymore, or you can share some of it with me. Maybe I can help you.

Bani: okay Dr. I guess I have to tell someone what happened. I don't know where to start.

Dr. Kapoor: just start from the beginning.

Bani: I guess this all started when my sisters and me moved to Mumbai from Mount Abu. After that, everything went downhill.

Bani related the whole story to Dr. Kapoor. She doesn't leave out anything. She tells her everything that happened from their first day in Mumbai to how she got to the mental asylum. Dr. Kapoor feels a new sympathy and respect towards Bani. Had it been anyone else, they would've just killed their sister, but Bani had enough kindness in her heart to let her sister back into her house even after everything that happened. Now she knew why Bani had been so quiet when she talked about her giving birth to twins. Giving birth was painful enough, but having your children taken away from you right after going through such a painful process. Dr. Kapoor knew she had to help Bani, but how?

A boring part, I know, but what is a girl to do?? Hahaha
