Part 11
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now they don't mean a thing
Every place I go I'll think of you
Every song I sing I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
Jai sighed deeply as he saw Bani's face, sad and gloomy, tears were threatening to come down from her big brown innocent eyes. She was not looking at his face, she was looking at his shirt blankly. Jai sighed again.
"Bani,..hey…what's wrong with you, jaan, main hamesha ke liye thori na jaraha hu."
Bani didn't look up, she was concentrating hard on not to cry. Why it was so early? She thought, seems like he came to her life yesterday and now he's going, leaving her alone.
Neither Bani nor Jai has any idea how the last month passed, they enjoyed their company and their love for each other, though neither of them has admitted it yet, but still..they know it.
They went on long drives to Shavar or Comilla. It was a hard task to manage it but they had lots of fun. They spent countless hours just talking over the telephone. Countless? Bani felt like they were only minutes, Jai did the same.
They were just getting to know each other better, and right then, its time to depart. Both were depressed to hell.
They were standing in the ZIA (Zia International Airport), in a few minutes, it will be time for Jai to depart to Canada, to complete his higher studies in University of Waterloo, one of the most famous university of the world. Jai has purposefully forbade everyone to come to the airport except Bani so that he can spend the last few minutes with her. As the flight was announced, Bani could take it no more, she threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly. He hold her even tighter.
"Jai…don't go, don't leave me alone, please."
"Don't do this to me, honey, I will be unable to leave." He whispered as he kissed the tip of her head.
"Wohi to main chahta hu.."
"Bani…" jai tried to be a little strong but at that moment bani looked up and without any warning she kissed him. Jai was a goner. They both tried to memorize the feel of each other before they got separated. They only let go when they're out of breath.
"I'll miss you honey" said Jai softly, caressing her cheeks.
"I'll…miss…you…too.." Bani broke down crying. Jai pulled her to his arms and ran his hand through her back to comfort her. Bani looked up once again, he kissed away her tears. "don't cry sweetheart, it'll be alright." He tried to sooth her but there was no avail, in fact she was getting more hyper by each passing second.
Jai remembered something as the time drew nearer, "Bani, I've got something that belongs to you."
"What?" Bani asked confused.
Jai took out the bracelet which he has saved too nicely since he got it that very fateful night. "It's yours I guess?" Jai couldn't help laugh at her expression.
"How..i mean..why its with you..i don't understand.." she paused and looked at him who was smiling to her and then it came to her mind, off course! She bumped with him and it might have been fallen open. "Why didn't you gave it back to me?" she complained.
She stretched out her hand to take it. But he never gave it. Instead, he turned the hand so her nails were upwards and slowly put the bracelet in her hand. She looked at him lovingly, Jai returned the same gaze, "thanks bolo Bani."
Bani smiled brightly, "Thanks."
"Not like this off course," he mused and within a second she was back in his arms, where she actually belongs.
Jai held her hand to take leave, "Bani…"
"I love you."
Jai just stared at her, unable to believe what she said, well, he knows that she does love her but hearing it from her mouth was something very different. He was suddenly full with emotions he never knew exists.
"W-What?"
"I love you, god, I love you." Bani was once again in his arms, placing her head on his chest. She kept murmuring "I love you" as Jai kissed her face, her nose, her cheeks and her forhead. Finally he placed another kiss on her trembling lips and said, "I love you too jaan."
"I Don't Believe You." Said Bani in between her sobs, she wiped away her tears and complained, "If you would have loved me you would never leave me."
"Bani, that's emotional blackmail dear, you know I love you, don't you?"
"no, I don't. " said Bani stubbornly. "Give me some proof and I'll believe."
Jai smiled sadly at her and looked at her tear stricken face. He cupped her face and made her look at him, "You want proof of my love for you?"
there was something in his voice that Bani shivered. She felt a chill running through her spine. "I..I was just.." But she was stopped as his lips clashed into hers. The kiss was breathtaking but jai was restless, he didn't seem any intention to let her go. At the moment, the flight to Ontario, Canada started to call Mr. J Walia. Jai broke up the kiss, wiped away her tears with his fingers.
He bend down to her and whispered something to her, Bani looked at him disbelievingly, he placed a final kiss on her lips and he was gone. Bani stood there like a statue trying to figure out what he told her.
It took her long to gain back her composure, she watched the plane taking off and sighing heavily she walked out and stepped into the car. She looked outside at the sky, it was clear crystal blue. An pretty afternoon of a very clear, sunny, hot day. There's no chance of rain today, she thought sadly.
Her mind was feeled with unknown grief throughout the rest of the day. What did he mean? He doesn't love me at all? Why did he have to say something this stupid? He doesn't love me, I know, he doesn't.
Slowly the daylight was gone, Bani made the tea for her family very unmindfully, causing the liquor to become more strong than she intended, causing the milk split on the kitchen floor and she almost burnt herself as the hot teapot was almost being dropped from her hand.
She retired to her room afterwards and sat on the bed, hugging her favourite tweety, thinking of..well..Jai. will he forget me? What if he finds someone better and stay there. What will I do then? Just then she heard a curious noise outside and went up to look from the window. Her jaws dropped.
The sky which was so clear even last hour was now full of black clouds, the wind was blowing viciously. The thunders were warning everyone, the storm is coming. Bani watched magnified by the storm. She went to the terrace to feel it more closely. She closed her eyes and wrapped
her hands around herself.
When I met him first, the wind was blowing like this.
She stretched her hands to feel the wind run past her. Please, god, let it happen, please, make me the happiest person alive now.
She felt a teardrop escape from her eyes as she felt the very first raindrop on her lips. Then it started to rain, loudly and in full force. Within minutes, she was drenched to her bones. She has never experienced such rain. The rain of love, their love
I love you too, I love you, I love you too."
She never felt this happy before, she ran towards the roof, experiencing the rain that started her new life so pleasantly. Oh, dear rain, I love you too, but I love him better.
She broke into singing,
Going crazy in the middle of the night
Slipping, sliding into heavenly bliss...
Fallen angel spinning from the light
Slipping, sliding into heavenly lace...
Bani looked to the farthest point of the sky where nothing could be seen now except heavy downpour. She smiled to herself, he loves me, sure he does. There's no doubt in this. She wiped away her tears, no place for tears in my life now, she thought happily as she his last words before parting came back in her mind…
If I really do love you, watch for it, tonight the rain must fall.
