hi guys
i thought i'll update another chapter and end this in another one. it would be too long if i dont post this part. i have no idea how this had turned out do comment on this and let me know where u did not like....
so here goes .......

Jai held Bani's hand carefully balancing him and her on the sill. Bani pounded on thee window with all her might. Bani couldn't believe her eyes. Her sister Rano was fighting with a boy, who was literally forcing a kiss on her. The teenagers panicked and looked at the window. Rano's face drained out of color. The boy stared at the girl behind the window who was glowering at him. He dropped Rano's shoulder and looked shocked. "What in God's name is that?' The girl behind the window looked exactly like Rano. The boy moved aside. Bani banged on the window again and it slid opened. Bani jumped inside pushing the window further and extended her hand for him. Jai got in beside her. Rano stared in horror and the boy fled from the room. Tears came streaming downs Rano's cheeks.
'What in God's name are you doing here?' Bani shouted.
Dr. Walia nudged Bani. She was being harsh.
Rano ran to her. She hugged her tightly breaking into sobs. Bani's heart went out for her sister. She held her tightly patting her back.
Jai held his breath at the sight.
He went and closed the door which the boy had left opened. The music was loud. He heard people down stairs. He shut the door and returned his attention to the sisters.
'What happened?' Bani asked softly drawing her away from her embrace.
Jai handed Rano his kerchief.
'We were having a party here. Rocky tricked me into coming her to show me something……….' She broke down again blowing her nose. 'He ……….' She hiccupped unable to continue.
Jai and Bani believed her. They had witnessed the scene more or less.
'Where are your other friends?'
'They are downstairs partying..' she said in her small voice.
'I wont just assure you that's it's alright. Be careful when you choose your friends.. and besides what's with these people all of them are high on their hormones..' Bani murmured.
Dr. Walia chuckled, leaving Rano confused.
Bani blushed and averted her gaze avoiding his. She cursed her tongue.
Jai took the ladies down stairs. Rano' s friends stared at them. The music stopped the girls and boys stared at their intruders. Rano's friends Gasped at the sight of Bani. One of her friend pulled Rano's hand and took her in a corner. 'Who are these people Rano? And that girl..' she pointed at Bani.
''She is my sister Rhea..
'Rano I saw rocky and you go upstairs what happened…'
Rano's face blanched.
'What did he do?'
Rano's eyes filled with tears.'
"Okay….. Don't tell me.. I knew he was a jerk…' Rhea assured her. Looking at the group to find Rocky. He was nowhere in sight.
'Who is that guy Rano? He is sooooo handsome….' Rhea rolled her eyes.
Rano smiled feebly.
'Hey Rans don't tell me he is your brother-in-law….'
Before Rano could protest Jai grabbed her hand. 'We are taking her.. She will see you guys later..'
Rano grabbed her night bag and followed them out. On the way out Jai asked one of the guys the route to get to town. The boy gave him the map. The guys somehow wanted him to get out of their premises. They did not want to mess up with him. The way he carried himself the boys knew he was not the type to mess up with. Jai walked out with his women thanking them.

Once they were seated in the car Bani turned her attention to her sister. 'What are you going to do? Shall we drop you to your house?'
'NO…' She panicked. 'Its' quiet late and I told them I'll be spending night with my friends.'
Before Bani could protest, Jai said, "Rano can spend the night in your place..'
Bani looked at her sister over her shoulder and saw her take deep breath.
"Okay… but you will have to tell your folks about what had happened ...'
'But…' Rano was hesitant… "Okay.. I'll tell them..' she agreed.
'Dr. Walia smiled.
'Well now the ordeal is over shall we go?' Bani was impatient.
Jai started the engine.
They were silent on their way back. Each one of them was preoccupied with their thoughts.
Bani moved restlessly in her seat she looked at her sister over her shoulder.
Rano had fallen asleep. Bani's face softened at the sight of her sister's cute face.
Jai looked at Bani.
'I don't believe what these girls are up to ..' she whispered not wanting to wake her up.
'"they are enjoying their lives..'
'God! If this is their enjoyment I don't want Rano to enjoy these kinds of lives…' she said protectively.
'Relax…' he said touching her hand.
'Thank you… Dr. Walia…' she said suddenly.
'For what?'
'For getting lost and finding her in a ridiculous situation…' she whispered.
Jai laughed. 'You have a very unusual way of thanking people….' He was about to take a turn the car jerked and stopped.
'Now what?' she couldn't believe what was happening.
'I don't know..' he got out of the car.
Rano opened her eyes. 'What happened?'
'Oh I don't know some problem with the car.
'Oh….' Rano closed her eyes again and relaxed in the back seat.
Bani got out of the car. Jai was examining the engine.
'What is the problem?'
'The engine is hot.. This never happened..' he murmured.
'Are we stranded in here?'
'More or less yes..'
'No..no..no………..' she screamed. "God! Why are you torturing me like this….' Bani shouted looking heaven wards.
Jai looked helplessly at her. 'Let us wait for a while and try again…' he was tired. The day had been hectic from the beginning.
'Yeash!'' she groaned throwing her hand in despair. She looked at her watch and groaned again. It was 3 am. She walked up and down the path restlessly. She looked inside the car Rano was asleep peacefully. She was unaware of him watching her. Bani stopped on her track and threw him a glance he was looking at her. Their eyes met.. Bani couldn't avert her gaze. She was caught in a spell. They stared at each other in the moonlight. Bani averted her gaze later realizing the mistake. She went round the car and sat on the dickey. Jai followed her and sat down beside her. His mere presence was making her uncomfortable.
'I am sorry about the car..' he said breaking the uncomfortable silence.
'It is not you fault Dr. Walia… I am sorry for being impatient..' she apologized. The atmosphere was cold. 'I'll get into the car. Its' pretty cold in here.' She said getting up.
Dr. Walia followed her after a moment. He started the engine and luckily it started.
'Yes! 'She smiled. Giving him a high five and stopping abruptly at his rather blank look.
Bani blushed at her idiocy. 'Sorry….' hiding her embarrassment she said, "doc you don't know what high five is?'
He stared.
'Where have you come from doc….. You are so boring…. '
'I know what high five is……' Rano said excitedly. Drawing their attention.
'Oh You are up from your beauty sleep..' Bani teased.
'Come here girl and give me a high five..' Bani invited her.
Rano leaned towards her and gave her a high five.
The girls giggled.
Jai looked at the girls and shook his head.
'Come on Doc…' Rano invited. 'We need to celebrate.'Give me a high five…'
Jai looked hesitantly at her childish demand. '
'Come on…' Rano urged.
In spite of feeling childish.. Jai gave into her whims.
'There….' She giggled. "Now give one for Di…'
'No….' Bani protested. As two pairs of eyes looked at her.
'Come on di…… don't forget you are the one who had started this game…'
'Rano let it go…..' Bani said blushing.
'Come on yaar…..' Jai said.
Bani gave him a high five blushing.
Rano and jai laughed. Bani joined them.

The car stopped at her porch. Bani woke her sister. Rano woke up grumpily. Jai and Bani exchanged glance.
'Come on di… I can't stand on my two feet…' Rano pulled her hand.
'Bani held her sister and turned to Jai. 'Thank you..'
"Bani don not rush to the hospital in the morning take your own time… and take care of your sister…' he grinned looking at Rano who half a sleep was hanging on to Bani.
'Why don't you come in for a cup of tea..' she invited.
'No Bani… have to run… It's already Half past four in the morning ….' He went back to his car. Bani stood looking at him. He waved his hand and left.
Bani woke Rano up at 9 am. Rano refused to get up. 'If you don't get up I'll have to lock you up Rano.. I need to get to the hospital….' Bani pulled the blanket from her.
Rano sat up scratching her head. She looked at the room she was in. Bani di…. Is this your room?'
'Nope…. You're in my neighbor's house….' She made face.
Rano giggled. "Its Beautiful Di…'
'Thank you…. Go brush your teeth…. Your breakfast is in the hall…' she said folding the blanket.
Five minutes later Rano walked into the hall. She sat at the table and sipped her tea.
The calling bell rang and Rano got up to open the door.
Raghav stood at the door staring at her.
'Bani…… you look different…' he said holding an envelope in his hand.
She took the envelope and said, 'thank you…'
'What happened Bani.. Your manners are too good this morning…..'
Rano giggled.
'Who is that Rano?' Called out Bani from the kitchen…
Raghav snatched the envelope from her hand and walked to the kitchen.
'Bani….. You are in here… who that is?'' he asked not taking his eyes of her face.
Bani smiled taking the envelope from his hand.
'Who gave you this?'
'Mom asked me to drop it here. Some one delivered it here yesterday … you were not here so mom took this fro you..'
'Hmmm'
'Bani who is that girl…..'
'Sorry chum.. She is my sister…'
'You have a sister? I never knew. But she looks just like you..' he said throwing Rano a glance..
'I'll explain later… can you do me a favor?'
'Anything…'
"Good take her out today and introduce her to our neighbors…'
Raghav smiled brightly.
'Where are you going?'
'I have a job remember?' she rushed to her room with the envelope.
Bani changed into a skirt and blouse and looked at the envelope. There was no return address. The envelope was addressed in her name.
She opened the letter and froze. It was a beautiful card from her mom.
'My dear…
A very warm happy birthday to you….
This would never make up for the years I have lost to know you…
Give me a chance to make up for all those years I have lost knowing a wonderful daughter like you……'

Bani stared at the card and a tear fell on it. She folded the card and kept in her drawer.
By the time Bani cam back to her living room Rano and Raghav had turned into best of friends.
'Rano do not forget to make the call you had promised yesterday….or was it today?'
Rano smiled. Shaking her head. Bani bid them goodbye and left.

Bani was at the hospital at 10am. Braganza looked at the clock and back to her. Bani nodded apologetically.
'Ms. Braganza, I am sorry for being late. Dr. Walia had given me permission..'
Braganza frowned.
"God!..' Bani looked at her for a moment and explained to her.
Good Lord!' Braganza grimaced.
Jai was busy the whole day. Bani could not see him or talk to him. She felt a strange loss. She knew what she was feeling for him was wrong. There was no way they could….. Bani shook her head exasperatedly and complained to god why he had put such thoughts into her heart.
She left the office at 5pm and found Rano waiting for her in her flat. Rano told her excitedly about the tour she and Raghav took around the neighborhood. She liked Raghav and told his mother. And told her she was lucky to have such loving and caring neighbors. Rano left after spending few minutes with her. Bani felt a sense off loss after she left.
