The Wedding Day
The wedding being over, it was now the time of the bidaai and the entire Dixit Residence wore the look of devastation and sorrow. Indeed his Princess was going away, the very thought brought fresh tears to Rakesh Dixit's eyes but he reasoned that this was the inevitable, the moment for which every parent waited when their daughter was born into this world. His wife, Arundhati was in a bad condition too, since Bani shared a rather friendly relation with her Mom than the usual mother-daughter relationship. Rano was crying inconsolably while Jai was trying to soothe her. And then there was Bani. Copious tears flowed from Bani's eyes at the thought of leaving her parents and her dear sister behind, and going away to her husband's house which proved to be painful for her. Jai wanted to console her but he let others do so but realized that he had a job cut out for him after they reached their house. After convincing Bani's parents that their daughter would not be left uncared for even a minute in their house, the bride and groom took leave and started their journey towards their destination – Walia Mansion.
All through the ride home, Jai noticed Bani staring forlornly out of the window and he didn't try to break the impasse. He knew that now was not the correct time to try and engage Bani in conversation cause her heart was being ripped apart this very moment with the pain of finally going away from her family and the house that she had been accustomed to since her birth and suddenly new relations were rearing their head. It was quite a difficult situation for her. Jai slowly placed his hand on top of Bani's bejeweled hand which caused her to turn around. He squeezed her hand slightly as a mark of understanding and togetherness and Bani was ever grateful to him for that. She laced her fingers through his and gripped his hand hard and smiled faintly. Jai smiled back at his wife and the very thought filled his entire beign with a deep sense of longing, responsibility and homecoming.
Maasi was waiting for them at the WM with a number of other relatives to welcome Jai and Bani. Her face glowed with happiness, at last her Munna was properly tied down in life, to the woman he loved the most, and the girl she also loved a lot. And what a perfect couple! she thought as she guided the couple to their room. A couple of Jai's friends had accompanied the couple and they all settled down in the hall. A few relatives were also present and soon the occasional sound of laughter and the tinkling of bangles and other accessories and the slight clinking of glasses wafted form the main hall of the Walia Mansion to the outdoors.
After a while, Maasi rescued Jai from amongst his friends and said
'Beta, Bani is waiting for you in your room. And it is pretty late. I think you should now retire for the night. She is all alone now and is sad too, after having left her sister and parents back at home. This house is yet to become a home to her and you have to assure her of the fact that her presence is godsend to the house and that she is thoroughly loved and appreciated over here. You are a husband now, not a boyfriend anymore. So go to her.'

Bani sat all alone in their room, which used to be Jai's room yesterday, she thought, waiting for him to appear. The train of thoughts containing the memories of her past life zoomed through her mind, as if she could almost see it, feel it and live it. Today her life is on the brink of new found love, happiness, prosperity and promise, all entwined with the man she loves the most. Getting down from the bed, she crossed the dimly lit room and walked towards the French windows adorning a side of the room. Few of the panes were drawn open and she looked up at the night sky, wondering where exactly her life would take her. She had known Jai for ages but all this was so new to her.
Suddenly a warm voice spoke stealthily near her ear 'And what exactly is my wife doing over here? Standing all alone?' Bani nearly jumped out of her skin, she was so busy in her thoughts that she hadn't even heard the door open and then close.
A pair of hands descended down on her shoulder and turned her around. She looked straight into her husband's eyes expectantly and shivered a little. She didn't know whether she should be happy or sad and a few lone tears trickled down her cheeks.
A concerned Jai immediately wiped away the tears and pulled her nearer and Bani buried her face into his chest and sighed.
'Easy Bani, easy' Jai said 'Its ok, I have got you safe over here with me. I know you are sad about leaving your parents and sister behind, but come to think of it, they are still in the same city as you are. We will visit them tomorrow itself and everyday after that, so that you don't feel alone and stranded away from your family. You know that I am always here to help you Bani.'
He slipped his arms around her and held her gently, as Bani listened to her husband's heartbeat. Husband? It seemed so strange, Bani thought and smiled against Jai's chest. Though she had loved Jai all this while, the thought of Jai as her husband suddenly seemed funny and she giggled.
Hearing her giggle, a surprised Jai forced her to look up and said 'Well, whats my bride actually up to? One moment she's crying and the next moment, she's giggling. Seems like life will never be staid for me', he chuckled.
Then looking straight into her eyes, Jai continued
'Bani, this is so new to both of us, though we have now known each other for years now. We both had been unaware of our feelings towards each other until a few months ago, though I can tell you that I have loved you for ever and will do so for the rest of my life. I am thankful to God for bringing us together and I am ever grateful to you darling, for agreeing to grace my life.'
The term of endearment warmed Bani and she looked up at Jai with love shining in her eyes.
Jai continued 'I am as nervous as you regarding the next step. But I would like you to be in the driver's seat in deciding the next stage of our relationship. You set the pace dear and I will follow. You are far too precious to me Bani, to behave otherwise. But one thing I can assure you, that my love for you will always remain the same, no matter what.'
As if shaken out of her reverie by Jai's words, Bani said quietly
'I trust you Jai and I believe you with all my heart and soul. And I guess I am too much in love with you to doubt you or your intentions ever.'
Completely overwhelmed, Jai held Bani's face with both hands and touched his lips against the corner of her mouth -- barely a kiss at all, just an extreme closeness. If he moved his head the slightest bit –
But then he burrowed his face into her neck, breaking the contact of their lips. He smoothed her hair, and softly kissed the top of her head. She calmed herself in his arms, suppressing all thoughts but the comfort she felt from being held so tenderly. He felt her muscles relax, and he could feel the contentment seeping through her veins. He felt intoxicated in turn, this beautiful woman in his arms, who was now his wife, was the woman of his dreams. And to have her in his arms in this way made him shudder with the alacrity of the thought.
Bani noticed the change in Jai's body language. Lifting her head from his chest, she looked at him with molten eyes and commanded
'Kiss me Jai'.
With a groan, Jai pulled her closer to him, if they could get any closer, that is. The veil lay discarded on the ground and in a matter of seconds, Jai's lips swooped on her's, his arms around her. This was not going the way he had planned. He had wanted to talk to her about everything - the empathy, his attraction, the details. Instead, he was overwhelmed by her supple form finding new ways to test his resolve. The scent of her skin teased him, and the way she was kissing him back tormented him.
A flourish of skilled moves later, Jai had actually picked up Bani from the ground and carried her to the petal-strewn bed. Bani's eyes were still closed as he lowered her on the bed and she opened her eyes slowly. Barely restrained hunger met her gaze, and he made no attempt to hide it. She smiled oddly at him, then moved her gaze to his lips, she moved in quickly, kissing him before he expected it.

Few minutes later, the newlyweds were transported into a world of their own, as they sought to move towards the final communion which would bind them forever together.
Eyes still on hers, Jai moved forward slowly until his mouth kissed the hollow at the bottom of her throat. He moved slowly, his chin nuzzling against the soft skin. .
"Oh, God," Bani whispered, her voice as soft as a breath, and Jai smiled against the warm, flushed skin of her throat.
Jai stopped. They were new to all of it. He didn't know what to give her or what would make her push him away. She pulled him to her again and they kissed, in the shy, hesitant manner of new lovers, over and over. She wouldn't let him think it was a mistake. Ever. She met his soft lips with her own in a series of short, sweet kisses as her arm snaked along his back, pressing lightly. His fingers moved in her hair and along her back, and his kisses lengthened and deepened.
"Jai. I love you."
The mere words caused Jai's eyes to fly open and he looked at her eyes, which were now bright with tears.
His eyes went wide at the pure joy that assaulted him at hearing her say it out loud. Speechless, he pulled her to him fiercely and buried his face in her hair, clutching her in a bear's grip.

The early morning sun cast its rays tangentially on the sleeping couple, creating a pattern through the blinds. Jai shifted slightly as the rays hit his eyes and then the memory of last night, his wedding all came rushing back to him. He quickly turned towards the other side of the bed and gazed into Bani's angelic face, still sleeping, reflecting deep contentment, love and happiness. He smoothed the hair from her face and caressed her cheeks lightly with a finger and marveled at its smoothness. She looked divine, Jai thought, that peaceful smile playing on her lips, the fingers splayed against the comforter, burying into it and the way she clasped onto his arm even in sleep.
Jai leant forward and kissed her lightly on her lips and felt her waking up slowly.
He smiled against her lips and then pulled back, reclining his head against a raised arm, as Bani's eyes slowly fluttered open, taking in his face, her surroundings as the realization set in about the true state of events. A faint blush crept through her as she noticed Jai looking at her earnestly and she smiled at him shyly
'Good Morning my darling wife' Jai drawled as all of her sense woke up completely.
Bani replied back 'Good Morning', and rubbed her eyes.
Jai turned towards the table on his side of the bed and picked up an envelope. Turning towards Bani, he placed the envelope on her hand and answered her questioning looks
'Bani, these are tickets for our honeymoon. We are going to the Phi Phi Island for our honeymoon day after tomorrow.'
Bani squealed in happiness and threw her arms around Jai's neck. Holding her flush to his own body and kissed her forehead, Jai continued
'Glad you liked the idea darling.'
