i actually wasn't going to update tonight as i had promised to update tomorrow (thursday) but a bkeero (keero) had a bad day at work and i wanted to cheer her up so i posted a small update tonight.

the last update till the exams are over will be tomorrow! so don't worry, u will get another update before the finals!

Jai was the first to arrive at the Book Cafe. "Hi Rohit" he greeted with a large smile as Rohit had his mug waiting for him filled with steaming coffee. Haye, I could use a coffee right now.

"Thanks Rohit" Jai said.

"Anytime Jai uncle" Rohit offered. "Besides, I think you're going to need it this morning."

"Why?" Jai questioned.

"There's someone waiting for you" Rohit said as he motioned to a table.

Jai looked over at the table and groaned inwardly. Roshni was sitting there anxiously waiting to talk to Jai. Ab isse kya chahiye?😡

"Thanks Rohit. I'm going to have to face this sooner or later so it might as well be sooner."

"Good luck."

Jai acknowledged Rohit and walked over to the table where Roshni sat waiting.

"Roshni" Jai greeted skeptically.

"Hi Jai" Roshni responded shyly. Yeh kyon sharma rahi hai?

"What are you doing here?" Jai asked calmly.

"I came here to apologize for my behavior yesterday Jai. I was completely out of line." Thats right. Completely out of line.

"Damn straight you were. You were out of line."

"I don't know what got into me Jai" Roshni said with a whine in her voice. "I came back to Mumbai hoping to get back together with you. After spending time in New York, I realized that everything I ever wanted was right here. You're what I wanted Jai." After what you did to him?😡 How you left him? Specially with that dude(can't remember his name😆)!

"Well, you certainly have a funny way of showing it Roshni" Jai said hesitantly.

"I know and I'm sorry about that" Roshni said anxiously. "It's just that I was nervous coming here and when I saw Anjali here I freaked. I know how she feels about us as a couple. She's never hidden the fact that she doesn't think I'm right for you. And then when I saw you with Bani in that well, compromising position I guess I just totally lost it. I've never seen you that close to another woman Jai and I was jealous." Atleast she's truthful and not devious like Roshni from the show.

"Roshni, this really isn't the place to discuss this" Jai suggested. "The kids from the Youth Center will be here any minute..."

"Jai, please" Roshni insisted. "I have to know, is there something going on with you and Bani or do I have a chance of getting you back?" Tumse matlab?

Jai let out a frustrated sigh. "Roshni, look" Jai began, "there is nothing going on with me and Bani. We're just friends. She was stabbed by a mugger a few nights ago and her wound got infected. Shilpa asked me to change the dressing for her and that's what I was doing." Why are you telling her all this? Let her imagination run wild.

"What, a Malhotra can't hire someone to do that for her? She has to have the hottest guy in Mumbai do it for her?"😡

"That was completely uncalled for Roshni" Jai said angrily. "Bani is one of the nicest women I know. I was doing it for her because I am her friend and that's what friends do for each other." Are you sure she's just a friend Jai?

"If you say so Jai" Roshni sighed in defeat.

"Roshni, look, Bani has been working with some of the kids at the Center. She even managed to get Khushi Mathur to talk again. The kids love her and I for one want to keep her at the Center for as long as possible. She's proven herself invaluable to me." Aww...😳

"Wow, Khushi's really talking?" Roshni asked.

"Yeah, she is. All Bani did was spend some time with her and encourage her to have some fun. Heck, I don't know how she did it but she did and that's all that matters."

"Well, I'm really happy for Khushi and her family" Roshni said, "but you still haven't answered my question Jai. Is there any chance for us to get back together?" No!

Jai looked at Roshni long and hard. "Roshni, I've had a lot of time to think about things since you've been gone. Even though I'm not seeing anyone right now, I've come to enjoy my freedom Roshni. I've come to realize that I don't think we were meant to be. You were right when you told me that you thought I had misgivings about us Roshni. Subconsciously that's probably the reason I never asked you to marry me." Ouch! Bitter truth hurts yaar.

Tears welled up in Roshni's eyes.

"Roshni, I'm sorry to hurt you like this, but it really is for the best. I don't think we would have been able to go on much longer the way things were between us anyway, do you?"

Roshni raised her head to one side and shrugged her shoulders. Tears were now streaming down her face. She couldn't answer him. All she managed to do was get out a few words between her tears. Aww... my poor baby is hurting.😭

"I guess this is it? It's over?" She asked, needing Jai to finalize it for her one more time.

"Yes Roshni" Jai answered quietly. "It's over. It's been over for awhile now."

Roshni smiled slightly through her tears. "Goodbye Jai" she said and then ran off towards the door. She never even saw Anjali and Bani walking in as she breezed by them.

"What happened?" Anjali asked Jai, after watching Roshni leave in tears.

"Roshni happened. You were right Anju. She did want to get back together." You always are right Anju.

"Judging by her reaction I assume you told her that wasn't going to be happening." Koi shaq? Anju could never be wrong.

"Yeah, I told her it was over" Jai frowned. "I did the only thing I could do, rather wanted to do for so long. We haven't been together and she expects me go back to the way things were? I don't think so. I've moved on. I hate to see her hurt like this, but the truth is, I haven't been happier since the day she walked out on me. I enjoy being a bachelor, I enjoy spending time with you and Bani and of course the kids at Youth Center. I never got to spend so much time at the Youth center before when I was with her, as she never really was interested in it." If all men start to enjoy freedom and being bachelors as much as Jai, to humara kya hoga Anam?

"Jai, Roshni's decision to leave you seemed selfish at the time, but since she's been gone, I think you've realized that her leaving was actually the right thing for you." I secong Anju there. Warna woh Bani se kaise milta?

"I know" Jai answered sadly.

Bani spotted Rajeev Mathur and his father come in. "I think I might have something to lift your spirits Jai" Bani said with a Cheshire grin.

"Oh? What might that be?" Jai asked curiously. Calm down jaan, abhi pata chal jayega.

"Hello Jai" Rajeev Mathur greeted with a huge grin.

"Mr. Mathur" Jai said in surprise. "How are you today?"

Jai shook hands with both men.

"I'm fine Jai" Mathur Sr. answered. "Rajeev and I are here to present the Youth Center with a gift. We are eternally grateful to Bani and the Youth Center for what you've done for Khushi. We can never thank you enough." Aww...

"We're as pleased about Khushi's speaking again as you are Sir" Jai answered. "That's thanks enough." So sweet...

"That's funny" Rajeev grinned. "That's exactly what Bani said to me yesterday."

Jai and Bani exchanged smiles.

"Regardless, this is for you Jai" Mr. Mathur said as he handed a large manila envelope to Jai. "Or to be more exact, this is for you to administer."

Jai gave Rajeev and Ritish a quizzical smile as he opened the envelope. Bani stood there excitedly waiting for Jai' reaction. He did not disappoint her. Wasn't the father's name Sanjeev?

"I'm dreaming, right?" Jai asked completely dumfounded.

"It's not a dream Jai" Rajeev smiled. "That scholarship will go into effect in January. We tried to get it started for the fall term, but there wasn't enough time."

Jai couldn't believe it. It was too good to be true. A full ride for one student each year from the Youth Center for a four year college education.

"I don't know what to say" Jai said, overcome with emotion. This guy is too good to be tru yaar.😳

"Well I do" Bani said gleefully. "Thank you Rajeev and thank you Mr. Mathur!" Bani gave both men an excited hug.

"Thank you both" Jai said in awe. "This is the best news I've had in a long time. This scholarship is going to change some of our kids' lives."

"Well, the Youth Center deserves it. You've already changed our lives and we want to help out some of the kids there. This is our way."

Jai talked with Rajeev and his father for a few more minutes while Bani happily looked on. After Rajeev and his father left, Jai turned to Bani and looked at her carefully. "You knew about this didn't you?" Jai asked suspiciously. Duh! Way to state the obvious.😆

"Yes, I did" Bani answered hesitantly. Jai had a funny expression on his face and she couldn't tell if he was angry or pleased.

"Is that what your "date" was all about last night?" Jai asked. Hmm... jealous?

"Well yes" Bani admitted. "Rajeev wanted to finalize a few things and we wanted to surprise you..." Bani was rambling due to her nervousness.

"Bani, relax, I'm not mad" Jai smiled. "I'm actually touched."

"You are?" Bani asked in relief.

"Yeah, I am" Jai grinned. "Thank you Bani. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."

Bani relaxed and smiled back. "You're welcome Jai. I'm just pleased that one child each year will get a chance at an education."

Jai approached Bani and held out his arms to embrace her. "You did a good thing Bani" Jai whispered as he hugged her close to him. "A very good thing. I hope you'll stay at the Youth Center for a long time." Finally he does the right thing.

Bani closed her eyes and smiled as she enjoyed the feel of being in Jai' strong embrace. "I plan to Jai. As long as you want me and I'm helping the kids in the process, I'll stay." If Bani leaves then I'm avalible Jai.

"Good" Jai said simply.

The hug lasted longer than either one of them anticipated because neither one wanted to break the embrace. Anjali, finally looking at her watch realized she had no choice but to break up the love birds. Nooo Anju. Don't do it! Our lovebirds finally met.

"I really hate to pull you two apart" Anjali apologized, "but we still need to go over to the Youth Center and talk to the workmen before we head for the skating rink."

Jai and Bani pulled back simultaneously, but Jai still held onto Bani's hand, albeit absentmindedly. Yeah right!

"Right" Jai said. "I almost forgot. I need to find out how much longer they are going to keep us closed."

Jai turned to leave when he realized he was still holding Bani's hand. He laughed nervously and his cheeks turned pink. My jaanu is blushing...choo chweet😳

"Sorry Bani." No need to be sorry jaanu!

"There's no need to be sorry Jai" Bani smiled shyly. 😳

The three of them walked over to the door and walked on to the sidewalk outside the Book Cafe.

"I think I'll check my email while you guys go to the Youth Center" Bani said.

"Sure thing Bani" Jai smiled at her.

Bani felt her heart flutter at the smile Jai just gave her. There was something beginning to happen between them, something wonderful. Bani, you're not the only one whose heart flutters😳

"Come on Anju" Jai said. Let's go."

Bani stood there and watched Jai as he and Anjali chatted while crossing the street to the Youth Center. She couldn't help the smile that shone on her face as she enjoyed the view of Jai' backside as he walked away from her. Waise... it would be a wonderful view😆

She turned her head to the left when she heard the faint sound of screeching tires in the distance and saw a car barreling around a corner headed straight for Jai. Panic set in when she realized that neither Jai nor Anjali was aware of the speeding car heading right for them.

Gathering all the strength she had, Bani cupped her hands and yelled at the top of her lungs. "JAI! LOOK OUT!"

Jai turned when he heard Bani call his name and saw the car headed straight for him.
