My answer would be that first please calm down and hope you read it patiently.
Now,to answer this,I need to put some questions of my own: Is the KS parivar just namesake? Is it only upto us mods to try and resolve it? Are the members of this parivar so unreachable that they cannot be made to respond even on pms and messengers,even for the sake of the 'parivar' they are so proud of ? Is personal hurt and ego bigger than this section itself which made all that is there today possible?
Last night Sree waited till midnight for Khoo to come back on msn after she said she will be back. It's morning now,and no sign of her. We have a whole thread open in the dev team for discussion,and they are not there.In fact,that is where they should have been discussing this whole issue, instead of making such a big issue of it. Why? Because the whole group of moderators thought differently from what they thought. Instead they declared they would quit,that too here in the firum,where it would sure shot cause huge unrest. Quitting does not resolve anything.It's not a matter of wrong or right. It's a matter of whether a situation was handled as it should have been........and don't you think we as mods and GMs and admins too deserve some respect for ALL the work we put in? Or that does not count in your eyes?
As for apology, it's upto Khoo and Monica to let us know whom are they expecting it from and why. Is it a member who was rude to them sometime back? If so, then why would they as dev team member wait for an apology? Why not warn them? And if they repeated,warn them again,even BAN them. But if their actions were bad but not bad enough to earn them a warning,what is this issue about then? Who are we talking about then? Why were we and other mods not informed about it if it was so bad? And if any of us were,and they at that time got an answer to it, which they should have then, then why the hue and cry now?
Conditions cannot be uncompromising,when evidence suggests that this issue should never have been an issue at all. Resolution does not mean simply give or we sulk. It has to be both ways. As someone said, sometimes, we all err,and even we don't realise, we might be wrong. Especially when the case study presented to 200 diferent people who are as different as chalk and cheese,have been dealing with issues far complex than this and most of the time differ on everything are unanimous in their opinion.
First,who closed the thread? Khoo and Monica did. Did they take any action against the members when they were being bad? I don't know, they would have the best answer. If any member was being bad,then they should have been strictly warned,and we should have been notified. The topic should not have been sacrificed for the actions of some members.
When Khoo contacted me on this issue,I had told her clearly that there was nothing wrong in the topic,and it should not be closed. But if a member is rude,send her a warning. That is what we are here for,to help members become aware what is or is not right.However, while so much was going on, none of the GMs were contacted to find out if the closing of that topics would be correct or not. But as they had already done it, we did not think much on it.
However,the topics were reopened only on the request of many other members who loved going there,and they are NOT the AF four. Ram himself mentioned he loved coming here and read those discussions,and hence those topics under no circumstances fell under the category where they could or should have been closed. That was the reason they were opened. At that time, we never received any complaint of any untoward behaviour of any member........so how can simply opening or closing of a topic be a headache to anyone who does not like visiting it anyway !! It's not like we brought back a banned member,rather, we tried to get things moving........
The last two days, you guys have insulted and been rude to them and have left no stones unturned to attack them. Right now, publicly naming them,and attacking them actually falls under personal attack,no matter what the conditions. If truth is what you want, that is what it is. It could earn you a warning,because the tone in which you have asked the questions is rude itself. I could give you a warning right away.......but the thing is, right now, your intention is not to be rude to me, but to get out some frustrations..and I understand that...And you say they are not affected ?? Unfortunately,they have been completely silent......does not that tell you something?
Whether they are following rules now,or before this,the basic point is THEY ARE following rules. You cannot be sarcastic and say,they are following rules now......if they were not before,as I said,Khoo and Monica both had the power to warn them. If they weren't following it then,but are doing now, then somewhere they were not conveyed strongly enough that this is not acceptable behaviour....If they break it,they get warned and go.If you break it,you get warned too. But retribution cannot be acheived of something that has been done and dealt with long back. If it has not been dealt with,the question is,why not?
So AF topic is not negotiable. Maybe nothing will ever get posted again,but the topic has not broken any rules,it should never have been closed. The members should have been warned,and if they were still not listening,we should have been told. We are still there on this forum, and KS is not an isolated section where we cannot reach to resolve something.
I hope you understand where we come from. AF topic is a non issue now. The whole dev team has gone through it,and found it's a lovely thread,barring some untoward comments from some members who I hope were warned then and there......but while reopening the thread,strict warning pms were sent to everyone who was interested in that topic as to what is and is not permissible, and they have been fine. And that is what we all want.
