Part 2. ...hume aur jeene ki

agar tum na hote... What he couldn't understand is what it was she wanted to tell him. What was so important that it couldn't wait till he came home from work? What the hell was it?
"Mr. Walia are you okay?" The doctor's voice jerked him out of his thoughts. I think you should go home and rest, you've been here all night. You may fall sick and we can't let that happen now can we?"
"He's right, Jai," said Aditya "we're all here now you can go home and rest."
"But how can I..." before he could say anything else his family members who had just arrived persuaded him and he was in his car in no time.
3 Hours Later... He returned to the hospital not being able to catch a wink of sleep. How could he when his life and also the love of his life was in the hospital? He met Mausi by the reception area.
"Munna, what are you doing back here I thought..."
Jai: "Mausi is she awake?"
Mausi: "Yes ...but she doesn't recognize any of us except Rano...not even Pia!"
Jai sighed and wondered if she would remember him. It surely would be heart breaking if she didn't or would it he thought as he walked into her room. Rano walked to the door and placed her hand reassuringly on his shoulder before she went out, closing the door behind her.
"Bani?" he didn't know what to say to her as he sat on the edge of the bed.
To his surprise she threw her hands around his neck and started to sob like a child.
Bani: "Oh Jai, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I'm sorry!"
Jai was even more surprised. This was the first time he had heard her say his first name.
Jai: "Bani, you don't have to apologize to me when you haven't done anything at all. If anyone should apologize, it's me. I'm sorry and anyways why cry for something that was never meant to be?"
Bani buried her head in his chest and didn't stop crying for another hour. Jai just hugged her tightly, as if seeking to protect her from the outside world.
