What a magnificent scene! A 6 minutes sequence captured the essence of their relationship from its birth to the present. The hissing wind in the background set the perfect stage for a heartfelt monologue.
Jai spoke to the two most important beings in his life, Bani, and his child, his extension.
Notice his hand as it shivers...and the consequent expression on his face once his touches Bani, feels his baby. He sighs in relief. His mouth is open, and he breathes deeply, as if his life depended on this contact. And the following pain on his face, his eyes. The pain of the thought that these two may not be a part of his life, ever again. And that this is the chance to speak...to be as close to his child and he can ever get. To bare his heart to his child and his heart the last time.
Bani may never be in his room again, he may never see them again, he may never feel their presence again...this is the time, and he graps the opportunity. In a way, he does what he can for the child now...he blesses his child, and wishes for his child, apologizes to his child. But also places trust, that though the child may lack the physical presence of a father, he acknowledges that he will have a mother. Such a mother, whose presence will invalidate the void of anything else his child's life.
'Jab tumhare tute hue dil ko koi malham lagata hai na? To wo pyar hota hai' Notice Jai as he whispers these dialgogues. A subtle smile of realization, late realization, lights his face, and it reaches his downcast eyes.
Now it seems that Jai has already realized that he loves Bani, but he intentionally refuses to acknowledge their bond as love, because, indeed, it is much deeper. Its too profound to be described as love. Love, the word, lacks the capacity to contain what he feels for this woman in his life.
'Yeh rishta do dilo se milne se nahi bana, yeh rishta do aatmaon se bana hai.'
Soul, is eternal. Soul, is the essence. Soul, is the core. Nothing can be purer and more cherished than a bond that is based on soul.
Jai Walia cried 2 tears of a bruised ego when Pia left him. He still stood tall, and mightly, and much in control. The same man now is crying tears of irreversible lonliness, of unfathomable separation. As if he has surrendered himself, his soul, to the woman he loves.
The change is Jai is drastic. There was one time when we complained Jai of being inconsistent in his relationship with Bani, of not reacting to Bani, the person, but reacting to Bani's actions. If Bani sacrifices, she is a good woman, if she strays, if she carries the child of another man, she is lowly.
The Jai today is reverential of Bani. He is a man who has recognized the soul of Bani. Nothing she does seems to have the ability to even vibrate the faith he has in her. 'Us gusse ke peeche besabasi nazar ayegi. Tumhari ma se tumhe sachchai milegi.' He knows. Lekin bina kuch kahe hum dono ek doosre ko bohot kuch ke sakte hai.' He knows this is not the Bani, Bani is. Some dark reason has compelled her to put up this facade. But he is also helpless in front of her strong determination to hold onto this deception.
And the other scene, where he beseeches forgiveness of Masi... 👏 A lot can be written on that.
Raashi is one dubious women. She is badly wounded, her ego has been hurt, and now she is playing the Walias. Im quite certain. But a tad degree of uncertainty remains! It will be one helluva smashing twist though. But any chances of Ranveer reverting to the 'good' path, will be nulled.
👏 for Jai Walia, the character today, for baring his heart. 👏 👏 👏 for Ram Kapoor for enacting JW with such understanding.
Just some thoughts...
Jojo
