PART 23:

After which seemed like centuries to Pia, Bani finally came into the apartment with a flushed, yet happy face. She closes the door behind her and meets a pair of brown eyes which had a secret sparkle in them.

Pia: Thank God you have decided to finally come in. Did Lover Boy leave?
Bani: (blushes harder) Yeah….
Pia: Aarti sein khati hai. (trans: Aarti's right...)
Bani: Kya?
Pia: That you are just way too shy. (laughs)
Bani: (glares at Pia) Piiiaaa-- don't even talk to me. I am very angry with you.
Pia: Kyon ji? Main abh kya kiya? (trans: Why? What did i do know?)
Bani: Are you kidding? You don't know what you did?
Pia: No, actually I do. I did one hell of a job of getting you two duffers together. (giggles to herself) And you should be grateful to me, not angry.
Bani: Pia, why did you have to go off and tell Jai?
Pia: Di, calm down, I didn't even tell him everything. I just told him that there may be a chance that you also liked him.
Bani: That wasn't necessary at all, Pia.
Pia: Oh yes it was. If I had not done that, you would still be moping around the place instead of being a happy and shy little girl in love like how you are acting right now.
Bani: (flushes) Okay,…I guess I agree with you there. But how did you even know? I didn't tell yo-
Pia: Di, don't I already have the reputation of invading people's privacy?
Bani: (thinks to herself and then gasps) You little sneak! You read my diary?!!!
Pia: (laughs) Di, calm down! I didn't read all of it! Just the juicy parts…. (winks) ' Dear Diary, what I was afraid of what would happen, finally happened. I think I have fallen in love with Jai Walia' (she quotes Bani from her diary)
Bani: PIA!!!!!
Pia: (continues on) ' He is just so handsome and simply just to die for'
Bani: PIA! MAIN TUMHE MARDALOONGI!!! (trans: Pia, i will kill you!)
Pia: (goes on) ' is there a chance that something may happen between me and Jai?'
Bani: OH MY GOD PIA! I'M GOING TO MURDER YOU! (chasing after her)
Pia: (laughs loud) Oh and Di, I also think Mrs. Bani Walia sounds very nice…(smirks)

Bani stops dead in her tracks and looks at Pia with a murderous face.

Bani: (looking around) Alright, where's the knife when I need it?!
Pia: (laughing out in fits) Oh god didi, you're on entertaining person, did you know that?
Bani: (glares at her)
Pia: (hugs her) Didi, okay, baas, I won't say anything more. I was just teasing you, you know I love to do that! Plus, don't worry, I am your sister. And sisters don't keep secrets from each other, right? You were the one who said that.
Bani: Hain hain, use my own words against me. (crossing her arms against her chest)
Pia: (giggling, pinching her cheeks as if she were a baby) Jai's right, you do look adorable when you're angry!!!

Bani forgets all her frustration towards Pia and begins to blush like it is the end of the world. Did he really say that? "He thinks I'm adorable when I'm mad?!".

Pia: Okay, forget all this. I'm tired and tomorrow I want to get up early and do some shopping for ourselves. So goodnight, Di. Sweet dreams!!!
Bani: Wait, Pia! When is Aarti coming?
Pia: She will be coming in a while, don't worry. Aph bhi soanjaye! (trans: You also go to sleep)
Bani: Pia- ek aur baath! (trans: Pia, one more thing!)
Pia: (turns around) Ji kaho…. (trans: Yes, go on..)
Bani: (twisting her fingers) Um…..Jab hum theater mein thi…. (trans: When we were in the theater....)
Pia: hain….
Bani: Um, what exactly did Jai whisper into your ear that was so funny?
Pia: (smiles) Were you jealous?
Bani: Nahi--- I'm just curious.
Pia: (laughs) Teek hai, whatever you say. (laughs) Are you sure you won't get mad at me if I tell you what he said????
Bani: Nahi, just tell me please.
Pia: (smirks) Nothing.
Bani: What?
Pia: (smiles) He said absolutely nothing. I was just faking it.
Bani: (also smiles) That was also a part of your guys' plan, wasn't it?
Pia: Yup! (kisses her di on her cheek) Sleep well di. Goodnight.
Bani: Goodnight…

Pia walks towards her room and halts in front of the door. She turns around back to Bani.

Pia: Oh and Di!---
Bani: Hain, Pia?
Pia: (sings) ….Jai and Bani sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Jai with the baby---

Pia shuts her mouth and quickly gets into her room, slamming the door shut, after seeing Bani aiming a pillow cushion straight at her, which hits the door instead.

After freshening herself up to another day, Bani joins Aarti and Pia at the breakfast table, where Aarti looks like she is bubbling with joy. Bani hadn't seen her best friend looking so happy and wearing a smile that actually reached to her eyes for a long time. This also brings a bright smile on her face.

Aarti: Good morning, Bani (all smiling)
Bani: Good morning, Aarti. What's up? Tum baut hi khush lagari ho. Kya baath hai? (trans: You are looking very happy today, what is the matter?)
Aarti: When you hear the good news, then you will also be happy as me.
Bani: Kaise good news? (her face brightening up) Is it about Simran Aunty-
Aarti: Yes, your auntie's health is improving since these past weeks. The doctors are even starting to believe that she will be absolutely fine in no time if this keeps up.
Bani: (surprised, yet so happy!) Aarti, that's fantastic !!! I haven't heard such wonderful news since ages!!!
Aarti: I know! Even I am so happy! Mama will be fine and healthy like she was before. Dekha nah? Main phele bhi kaha tha, kuch bhi nahi hoga meri mummy ko. (trans: I said it before, nothing will happen to my mom) She is one strong woman.
Pia: Well I say that this calls for a celebration. Don't you think?
Aarti: Yes, it certainly does. After spending some time with Mom, Rahul wants to take us all out to dinner. Doesn't that sound nice?
Pia: That sounds wonderful, Aarti!
Aarti: It has been too long since we've gone anywhere together. Today's a great opportunity. And I am also starting to feel as if you two have been having a boring time here so far, so I want to make it up to you.
Bani: Aarti, it's nothing like that.
Pia: I am having a wonderful time here. And of course Di isn't having a bad time either. In fact, she's been very happy lately. (smirks)

Bani throws a glance to her sister saying , "shut the hell up!" Aarti sees it and senses that something has been going around that she doesn't know.

Aarti: Oh really? How so?
Pia: Why don't you ask her?
Aarti: Bani, what's going on? What does Pia mean?
Bani: (curses herself) Oh God, why did I have to have such a snooty sister?
Pia: Oh come on Di, it's just Aarti. Not papa.
Aarti: Anyone care to tell me what's going on?
Pia: Jai Walia is what's going on (winks)

Bani sinks into her seat and begins to blush.

Bani: Pia….I don't think it's that important to discuss. We should only be thinking about Simran aunti---
Aarti: No no, I want to know this. What have I been missing out on lately, Pia?

Pia looks over to her embarrassed sister whose face had turned bright pink.

Pia: (smiles) Should I tell her Di?
Bani: (low voice) Might as well……she'd find out sooner or later….

Rano twirls around on her black heels while she examines herself in her long length sized mirror. She looks quite unsure.

Rano; (over the phone) I don't know, Tanya. I don't think I can pull it off.
Tanya: Rano---- you're probably just not used to it. You're probably looking very hot in it right now.
Rano: It is a pretty dress….
Tanya: Of course it is, handpicked by me! Duh!

Rano looks back into the mirror. She is looking beautiful in a red sexy Grecian style flounce evening dress in rich chiffon color with jeweled center brooch and beading throughout bodice. Her hair is let out in curls and her eyes are adorned by light glitter eye shadow and eyeliner.

Tanya: Where does your Dad think you're going?
Rano: I told my dad that I'm going to the library to study and will be back around 10ish.
Tanya: How are you gonna get out of the house?
Rano: T, my dad isn't home, thankfully, he's at work.
Tanya: That's good. Oh, and I can't pick you up, sorry.
Rano: (finally taking her eyes off the mirror) What? Why not?
Tanya: I still have things to do over here and I still have to get ready!
Rano: Then how am I goin-
Tanya: Rano, it's okay. My cousin is going to come pick you up. I hope that's okay.
Rano: Yeah, sure, I guess. What time?
Tanya: He should be over in maybe five minutes.

"HE??? OH CRAP! Why didn't she say tell me before?! I don't do so well with guys! She knows that!!!!!"

Rano: (playing it cool) Yeah. Alright then I'll see you there.
Tanya: Bye.

Rano hangs up the phone and tosses it on top of her bed.

Rano: (to herself outloud) Great. Just great. Now a guy, that I don't even know, is going to be picking me up and I will have to be with him in a car for 15 minutes! Oh god, Tanya! You stupid idiot! You know that I'm just a cluts when it comes to guys! Phir tumhne….ARGH!

The doorbell rings and Rano stops cursing herself and begins to worry. Rano had never properly talked to a guy before, well minus the part when she yelled at that one guy at college, Saahil. He was just so stupid and dumb. "I swear he's blind, that idiot," she says to himself. Rano checks herself in the mirror for one last time and grabs her purse. As she makes her way to the front door, she silently prays to herself wishing that Tanya's cousin was a very ugly guy, then there would be nothing to worry about. Rano opens the door slowly and sees that it was no guy, so Tanya's cousin hadn't come yet, but it was instead a girl, a very familiar girl who was in tears and wearing a frightened look on her face.

Rano: (very surprised) Tum???!!!!

Jai takes Bani's hand in his under the table. He leans closer to her, and says with a low voice, for only Bani to hear, "You look very nice in that dress, Bani." Bani blushes at his comment and glances down at her beautiful black captivating dress with corset ribbon lace-up back. She looks back up to Jai with a smile. "Thanks, you don't look too bad yourself," she replies.

"How about me, Bani? How do I look?," came a voice from right next to Bani. Jai sighs and runs his fingers through his hair, wearing a look of annoyance. Bani turns to her left and sees Aman, smiling at her. She also heaves out a sigh.

After spending an hour at the hospital, visiting Simran, Rahul made dinner reservations to a fancy and famous restaurant, which is extremely hard to get reservations to, but somehow Rahul had gotten the reservations. It usually took weeks to get a reservation at the place. Feeling left out and the only one without a date, Pia had suggested to invite Aman along so she could have some company. She didn't want to be the only sore loser without a date or somebody to accompany her with. Aman gladly agreed to come along with them, but throughout the evening so far, he would just not leave Bani alone, which kept on frustrating Jai.

Bani: (small smile) You look fine, Aman.
Aman: Why thanks, Bani. (winks)
Pia: So Rahul, how did you get reservations to this place? Aarti says that it takes like two weeks to get one, then how did you get one if you called in today?
Rahul: (puts down his utensils) You see that man standing by the plants over there, talking to one of the waiters?
Pia: Yeah, I see him.
Rahul: He's the owner of this restaurant. Me and him go way back. So of course he couldn't refuse a reservation to a dear old friend.

Pia smiles and carries on with eating her food. Rahul looks over to his fiance, whose attention was only on Bani and Jai. She was wearing a goofy smile on her face, just watching them two. Rahul nudges her with his shoulder.

Rahul: I've been noticing that you keep looking at Bani and Jai every once in a while. What's up?
Aarti: (smiling) Rahul, don't you think that they look so adorable together? Look how cute they look whispering in each other's ears about who knows what, and Bani blushing like a little school girl, and Jai just looking so happy. I haven't seen these two like this at all before.
Rahul: Yeah, so?
Aarti: (smiling even more) I think I hear Wedding Bells coming along!
Rahul: Yeah, of our wedding.
Aarti: No, stupid, not ours. Jai and Bani's!
Rahul: What? Aarti, you're already thinking about them getting married??? I don't even think either Jai or Bani have even thought about that yet! Certainly not Jai!…Has Bani?
Aarti: Well she hasn't told me yet, but come on, look at how an adorable couple they make. They'll certainly will get married soon, they are just so in love, it's so cute!
Rahul: Aarti, don't you think that you're thinking into things a bit too soon for them?
Aarti: Rahul, don't you remember when we were like that??? Now look at us, we're getting married soon.
Rahul: Yeah, but we've known each other for years-
Aarti: So?
Rahul: (shakes his head) You women,…always thinking about marriage, there's never anything else on your minds……………

Rano: RIYA?!!! Tum-tum yahan kya-- What are you doing here in Mount Abu?!!!!!
Riya: (wiping away a tear) Rano…
Rano: Oh god, am I dreaming????
Riya: Rano, I need a place to stay.
Rano: Par Riya, what are you doing here? Why are you here? Does your Dad know you're here? Are you here by yourself?
Riya: Yes I am here all by myself, Dad doesn't know because I have run away from home. (wiping another rolling tear) But he probably already read my letter by now.
Rano: Oh my god, but why did you run away?!
Riya: Kyun ki---

A car honks from outside of the house, interrupting Riya midway. Thinking that it may be Tanya's cousin, Rano opens the door and sees a silver Lexus waiting outside.

Rano: Riya, wait for a second. I'll be right back.

Rano walks out of her house and down the driveway, to the car. "I definitely cannot go to Tanya's party. But why did Riya run away? And why did she come here? Would't Raj Patel try and contact here to find out if she were here? What will I tell Papa? No, I can't tell him, he'll just go on and tell Raj Patel and he'll come and take Riya away. And obviously Riya doesn't want to go back. But why? What happened?," all of these questions runs through her mind as she makes her way to the car. She approaches the driver side of the car, and stands in front of the side window, which was tinted, preventing Rano from seeing the driver, Tanya's cousin. Rano knocks on the window.

Rano: Look, I'm sorry, I can't go to Tanya's party, something's come up. Tell Tanya that I'll tell her later and that I'm really sorry. I hope you understand.

The driver pulls down the window, revealing himself to Rano who was only worrying about Riya right this second until she sees who the driver is and is absolutely stunned.
