Part 9
Its morning now, and today is Saturday. Nor does Bani have class and nor does Jai. Last night, Bani was up doing homework and so it was a late night. Basically, she's sleeping in today. Time right now: 10:30 in the morning. Jai gets up and sees that Bani is still sleeping in her room and breakfast is not ready yet. So, he goes to her room to wake her up to do the breakfast.
Jai (Sleepy): Bani...(rubbing his eyes) Bani wake up!! I'm hungry, make breakfast for me!! (Yawns) Bani...wake up (shakes her)
Bani: (Sleepy, eyes closed)Hmm...what?? Make it yourself...just because I'm living with you doesn't mena I do everything for you...go make it yourself, the bagel and cream cheese and milk are in the fridge.. (Pause) There's cereal on the counter.. I need rest..
Jai: Bani... come on man, don't be so tight. (Jai now sits on the floor and rests his head on Bani's bed, but he's still sleepy)
By the way, BAni doesn't have a clock in her room right now she wakes up by the alarm in her phone. Jai and Bani are planning to go house shopping today.
Bani: Stop talking like these Canadian gorey...and let me sleep..
Jai: (After a couple of seconds) (Jai decides the only way to wake her up is to make her think she's late. So he takes her phone and changes the time to near 12:30)Bani!! It's 12:30 come on! Now you don't have to make breakfast you have to make lunch!!
Bani: (Opens her eyes immediately but doesn't get up. She gets her phone and checks the time.) Oh snap!! (Looks at Jai) Why didn't you wake me up before?? Now I'm late, I have to meet my prof at 1:00!! Shit!! Movee!!(Moves Jai out of her way and runs to the bathroom.)
Bani goes into the bathroom thinking she's going to be late, taking quick showers and so on. Meanwhile, Jai has to brush in the kitchen sink , and finishes before Bani comes out. He just sits on the couch waiting for Bani.
Bani: (Walking around in a rush, getting her things ready) Tumhe kahin jaana naheen hai? Why are you just sitting around like that?
Jai: I'm waiting for you to make breakfast.
Bani: (Confused) I'm not making breakfast, and I definitely don't have time to make lunch. I'm just going to eat at China Palace on the way, you can order something if you want.
Jai: No Bani, it's 11:15 and its Sunday morning. I will have breakfast first then I'll have lunch.
Bani stares on at Jai who she realizes has just fooled her. And since he fooled her, she decides to kinda have her fun too.
Bani: (playing along) Ohhh....so you were just playin with me? I see I see...oh well, I guess now I don't have to make a lot of food. I'll just have some cereal and a bagel I guess.
Jai gets up and goes to the counter top where Bani is filling cereal in her bowl and puts the bagel in the toaster.
Jai: That's it? You're just gonna brush it off saying "Oh well..." ? (Expecting her to react more)
Bani: Yup! that's because you're my bestest bestest friend and I don't wanna get mad at you. Could you pass me the milk please from the fridge?
Jai: (Gets the milk carton and puts it on the counter and rests his palms on the counter beside where Bani is standing) Bani are you feeling alright today? How come you're not reacting? Tumhe bookhaar to nahin hain, naa? (Checks her forehead)
BAni: No Jai. By the way, do you want me to react?
Jai: (Thinks) Well, yeah, like that's the usual Bani.
Bani: That's the USUAL Bani?? Did you just say USUAL Bani?
Jai: Yes! Now that's the spirit!
Bani: (Gets her bagel out of the toaster and starts putting cream cheese on it) So what you're trying to say is that I'm usually cranky and my mood is usually off? So I react on every little thing? AND MY TONE GETS HIGHER AND HIGHER AS I TALK? (Walks towards Jai) (Says softly) So you mean I'm tough?
Jai: (Who just doesn't know how to react at Bani so close to her, but in a way, he seems to be liking it.) (In his seductive tone) Yes I do....
Bani looks at Jai surprisingly as she doesn't expect him to say that. After a few seconds, she just moves back, with a nervous "Ahem.." and continues spreading cream cheese on her bagel.
Jai: (Turns to Bani who is farther from him now) What happened?
Bani: Nothing.. You want tea right, I'll make it for you.
Jai: (Unexpected) Sure.
The morning passes in silence and soon enough its 12:30.
Bani: Jai I have to go meet my professor at 1:00 so I'm leaving right now, when I come back we can go house shopping and we'll just have lunch outside too, at like New York Fries or something. But be ready when I get back.
Jai: Okay Okay I will. You sound like my mom..
Bani: That's because you're just like a kid. Watch, when I come back you won't even be ready. Anyways, lock the door. Bye! (Bani shuts the door. )
Jai: Lock it!! Sheesh, she doesn't even take the keys.
When Bani went to meet the professor, Jai actually did get ready. But unfortunately, since Bani was dressed formal for her meeting with her professor, of course she wouldn't wear to the mall. So when she came back home, she had to change. And thus, she ended taking more time than Jai.
Jai: Bani hurry up!! you said I wouldn't be ready and see I'm ready! But you're taking so long!!
Bani: Give me one minute Jai..
Jai: Why do you girls take so long getting ready..
Just then Bani walks out looking astonishing and Jai is just left staring on...

Bani: Jai, stop ogling at me!
Jai: Sorry..it's just that, you look so gorgeous..
Bani: (rolls her eyes and sorta blushes 😳 ) Okay whatever, can we go now?? (Takes Jai by his arm) Let's go!!
And Jai and Bani go for shopping. Since they are in Canada right now, and (I know this isn't true but)the school (college) is going to pay for whatever equipment/furniture they buy for their suite at Campus. anything else, for instance a car, they'll have to buy with their own money. So now, basically, they can buy whatever they want because they don't have to pay for it. They arrive at Square One Mall which is 5 minutes away from their campus.
Bani: Okay, let's split up. We need a television, couch, tall lamp, home theater system maybe, and anything else. So, I'll go shopping for the couch and lamp and you can go look for the home theater and TV. That way, you won't have to go in two different stores. Okay? (She turns to leave)
Jai: Hey wait! (Holds her arm and turns her around) (Still holding her arm 😆 )
Bani looks at his hand on her harm.
Jai: (retreats his hand) Sorry. But I was thinking maybe we could both go together since we really don't know this place. And anyways, what if you get lost? Then who'll help me on my homework? 😛
Bani: (gives him a naughtyish smile) Fine. But we won't be back till 4:00 then. What times is it right now? (Checks her watch) It's near 2:00. That's fine though, right?
Jai: As long as I'm with you, I don't care how long it takes. (Winks) 😉
Bani: ( 😳 ) Okay fine, let's go.
Jai and Bani first head for the electronics store, and come to FutureShop. All this is pretty new to them, and they ask a sales representative.
Bani: Uh.. excuse me! (a sales rep comes) Umm, could you please help us find a good television. Something like, (shows with hands) this wide?
Sales rep: Sure ma'am, this way. (The sales rep shows them all these TVs.) All of these are good, no doubt about it. But one extraordinary one is this one. (points) A Sony 55" Widescreen HDTV. High definition performance, 1 year parts and labour warranty. Surround sound with sleep/alarm timer.
Jai: Wow...how much is it?
Sales rep: It's original price was $2499.99, but you get a $500 discount. So now, it's $1999.99.
Bani: Cool. (Looks to Jai) What do you think Jai? Lena hai?
Jai: Well, it looks good to me. But, badme le kar pata mahin kaise hoga. But it should be good. (Thinks) Shall we take it?
Bani: Yeah, I guess. Okay, umm, could you please bill this TV for us?
Sales rep: Sure ma'am, just walk over to the front desk and we'll bill it right away. And someone will bring it from the back. Would you like it delivered, or are you taking it in your car?
Bani and Jai: No, actually -
Jai: - we don't have a car yet.
Sales rep: Oh, okay. That's absolutely allright because we deliver. But there's a $50 charge for delivery. We'll bill that too.
Jai: Sure. (and the rep walks away)
Bani: Jai, don't we think we're spending a little too much??
Jai: Relax Bani, we're both straight-A students. They won't say anything to us. (assures her by putting a hand on her shoulder) Relaxx!!
Bani: (believing what he says) Okay, whatever you say...
When Jai and Bani are at the front desk, another man working at the store brings the TV in the box to show them. And then he takes it to the back to load it on to the delivery truck. Just then, Jai remembers about the theatre system.
Jai: Oh, and um, we're also looking for a home theater system.
Cashier: Well sir, you've done an excellent deal because when you buy this TV you get a home theater system with it too. (And he shows the picture on the screen)
Jai: Oh! (Amazed) That's wonderful. Right Bani?
Bani: Yeah, I totally forgot about that.
Jai and Bani make their purchase payable from their college. And they leave the store.
Bani: Okay, so now he have to go home, right? Because the delivery guy will be coming, so we have to let him in right?
Jai: No, actually I told him to come later because we'll still be doing some shopping.
Bani: Oh, thats good! So now, couch and table lamp.
Bani and Jai go around the shopping outlet when they come across "The Brick" and that's where they buy their couch and table lamp from.
and After buying these things, they're about to leave, when Bani spots a pet store at the corner.
Bani: Hey!!! A Pet store!! Jai, come let's check it out!
Jai: Awww Bani...you go I'll wait here.
Bani: Come on, don't be so stubborn. (Takes him by his sleeve) Come on!!!
Jai: Awww man.....
When they enter, they see all sorts of pets. Cats, dogs, rabbits., turtles, hamsters, snakes, even parrots and other birds. But Bani stops buy a cute rabbit she sees.
Bani: (Looks down at the rabbit) This one.
Jai: What? We are SO not buying a pet Bani.
Bani: No Jai!! We are buying a rabbit and this one will be our pet! (Big smile 😃 )
Jai: Come on Bani! The campus people won't even let us keep him, and plus he'll shed fur everywhere in the apartment.
Bani: No he won't we'll keep him in a cage.... (calls someone) Excuse me, we'd like to buy this rabbit.
Lady: Sure. I'll just get him a cage and we'll put this little buddy right in. I'll be back.
And the lady goes and comes back with a cage. Bani got to pick the rabbit up and put it in the new cage. The lady explained everything about food, and care, and daily exercise to them, and once again they were off.
Jai: (On the way back) What if these guys say he's not allowed? (Jai's holding the cage) Then will you be able to take him back?
Bani: They won't say anything. I've seen people with pets around here. (k...i noe that's not allowed in real life, but this is a fanfic ppl! 😛 )
They reach home at 4:15. For now, they put him on the small table by the window.
Jai: There you go little man. (Takes a breath)
Bani: Jai, I'm hungry...
Jai: Oh yeah!! We were supposed to eat out for lunch right, so where do you wanna go?
Bani: I'm too tired to go outside and eat, can't we just order some fried rice and chowmein from China Palace?
Jai: Or we can do that. Okay, (passes her the phone) place the order. Two plates of vegetable fried rice and two plates of vegetable chowmein.
Bani: (Takes the phone and dials the number) Hello? (Pause) Hi, I'd like to place an order for 2 plates of vegetable fried rice and two plates of vegetable chowmein. (Pause) Okay, and how much will be the total? (Pause, writes it down) Okay, and how long will it be ready in? (Pause) 20 minutes? Sure thing. Alright, thank-you. Bye bye. (Puts the phone down) Okay so its $18.97 and you get 4 fortune cookies with that.
Jai: Okay.
The food comes in 15 minutes. JAi recieves the door.
Jai: (Takes the bags) Thank you. And, here's $20.00. You can keep the change.
Man: Thank you sir. Have a nice day.
Jai: You too. (closes the door)
And Jai and Bani have their lunch in silence.
k guyzz im tired now...i might add more in a couple of days or so...hope you liked this part 😃
