Part 6:

It's early morning and everyone is finished having breakfast. The phone rings, and pooja picks it up. It's for bani.

Pooja: Bani!
Bani: (gets out of her seat) ji, bhabi?
Pooja: tumhare liye phone!

Bani walks over to Pooja and takes the phone from her.

Bani: hello?
Jai: Bani?
Bani: hain. (doesn't really recognize the voice) Whose this?
Jai: it's jai.
Bani: (starts blushing) oh, hi.
Jai: (laughs) hi. I'm actually calling to ask you if you're free right now.
Bani: ….yeah, I'm free. Why?
Jai: could you meet me up somewhere?
Bani: uh, yeah. Sure. Where?
Jai: (thinking) hmm. Maybe at the coffee shop near the office?
Bani: yeah, that sounds fine. What time should I be there? (twisting the phone wire)
Jai: maybe…in an hour or so?
Bani: ok. I'll meet you there. …bye.
Jai: great, bye.

Bani shuts the phone onto the receiver and runs to her room to find clothes to wear. She bumps into pia accidentally.

Bani: oh, I'm sorry pia.
Pia: it's ok. You seem to be in a rush. Where you going?
Bani: (shy) I'm actually going to go meet Jai.
Pia: (stunned but happy) Jai? Jai Walia?
Bani: ..yes.
Pia: Well, have fun (winks at her)

Pia is close to leaving the room, but Bani stops her.

Bani: wait, hang on, pia. I kind of need help.
Pia: with what, di?
Bani: (pointing at a pile of her clothes) I don't know what to wear.
Pia: (laughs) sure, I'll help you.

Both pia and bani look through the pile for a nice suit. Pia finally finds one. Bani's shiny dark blue suit, which looks fabulous on her. She picks it up and hands it over to Bani. Pia smiles at her to assure her that this is the one she should wear. Bani takes it and steps into the bathroom to get changed.

Aditya: and why are you getting ready on a Saturday?
Jai: (smiles at him) meeting a certain someone.
Aditya: oh, her.
Jai: (laughs) yeah, her.
Aditya: well, don't wear that suit. Gray isn't your color.
Jai: really? Well, I don't think I have anything else to wear.

Just then Jigyasa comes walking in. She walks up to Aditya and Jai.

Aditya: look, here's your sister. Get some tips from her.
Jigyasa: tips? About what?
Jai: Aditya says I need to change.
Jigyasa: (smiles) here let me pick something out for you, jai.

Jigyasa walks over to his closet and pulls out a nice black suit. She hands it over to Jai.

Jigs: wear this. You'll look nice. Black is your color.
Jai: (smiles at her) thanks, sis.
Jigs: Where are you going?
Aditya: he's going to meet a very beautiful girl.
Jai: I'm actually going to meet with her to tell her she has the job and all the details about it.
Aditya: sure! (not believing jai)
Jigs: stop bothering my brother, aditya. Jai, you should probably go and change or you'll probably get late.

Jai agrees and gets ready.

Bani arrives at the coffee shop, looking gorgeous. She walks in and looks around. She sees him sitting at a table near the glass window, waiting for her. Bani smiles to herself and walks over to him. She can't help, but notice that he looks very handsome in black. She seats herself down across from jai and smiles at him.

Bani: hi.
Jai: oh, hey. How are you?
Bani: I'm absolutely fine.
Jai: I can tell that you're happy.
Bani: I'm in a very good mood today. How are you?
Jai: just fine.

Just then, a waiter comes and hands jai and bani their coffee.

Jai: I ordered for you. I hope you don't mind.
Bani: no, not at all.
Jai: I have to say, you look very nice in that suit.
Bani: thank you. (pushes a strand of hair behind her ear) You don't look that bad yourself.
Jai: thanks. (laughs)
Jai: um, I actually called you here to tell you about the job that you interviewed for.
Bani: (sits up in her chair) yes?
Jai: (extends his hand forward) congratulations. You got the job.
Bani: (stunned) what? Really?! (happy)
Jai: yes.
Bani: (shakes his hand, but really just wanted to hug him because she is so happy) Thank you so much.
Jai: you deserve it.
Bani: oh wow, I'm just so happy, by hearing this.
Jai: you'll start right away on Monday at 9:00. Ok?
Bani: yes, of course.
Jai: (puts his back against the chair) So, how do you like Mumbai?
Bani: It's a very big city, very nice. I don't know where everything is, but I soon will. (switches it around) How long have you been in Mumbai?
Jai: (chuckles to himself) my whole life.
Bani: your whole life?!
Jai: yup. Born and raised here.

Jai and Bani start to bond and begin to tell each other almost everything about their lives. Bani felt like she could tell everything to jai. Jai feels the same way about Bani. Bani can't seem to stop laughing, because Jai was quite a funny guy.

Jai: so, tell me about your sisters? People back in Mount Abu?
Bani: Well, there's Pia. She's 23, she's a very sweet once you get to know her. She's always there for me, when I need her. And there's Rano, the youngest. She's 20 and is always reading. Rano is a very shy person, she doesn't really involve herself with people, she'd rather be alone by herself. But she's completely different with me and Pia. Everyone in Mount Abu is like family to us. They are all friendly people.
(bani glances to the side and is shocked to see someone that she wasn't expecting to see for awhile)

Bani covers her face with her hand, trying to hide herself away from the person. "oh my god! What is he doing here?!" she whispers to herself. Jai is watching bani doing this and is confused. He puts his hand over her right hand that is lying on the table.

Jai: Bani? What are you doing?
Bani: There's someone here that I don't really want to meet with.
Jai: (turns around) where?
Bani: The one sipping his coffee while reading his book. He's wearing a red polo and dark blue jeans.
Jai: (spots him) I see him. Why don't you want him to see you? Who is he?
Bani: He's Vijay. I'll explain everything to you later, can we just get out of here?
Jai: Sure. (takes bani's hand in his and leads her out of the coffee shop)

Vijay looks up from his book and sees bani right in front of him with another man, holding hands with him. Vijay is stunned. He rubs his eyes and opens his eyes. Bani is gone and so is the man. He gets out of his chair and looks around the coffee shop. There's no sign of Bani. He sits back down. "Was I hallucinating?", he asks himself. "Why am I seeing Bani everywhere?".

Jai and bani are walking on the sidewalk. Bani starts explaining to him who Vijay is.

Bani: Vijay is a friend of mine from Mount Abu.
Jai: Why are you trying to avoid him, if he's your friend?
Bani: Well you see, he's a friend to me. But to him, I'm his lover. He told me before that he really loves me, but I don't feel the same way about him. Let's just say that he's another Anjali.
Jai: (laughs) is he that obsessed with you?
Bani: (shrugs her shoulders) I don't know. Maybe. I feel so uncomfortable around him. I thought that I wouldn't see him for awhile, but he's here already. It hasn't even been one full day, and he's here. I can never get him off my back. He's always around me, everywhere I go.
Jai: does he know where you're staying?
Bani: yeah, I'm staying at his brother's place for a while until I get a place of my own.
Jai: you know, you can get a restraining order done.
Bani: (laughs) no, I don't think that's necessary.

Bani checks her watch to look at the time. She has been with Jai for about 2 hours. "I should go, now," she thinks. Bani tops in her tracks, and so does Jai.

Bani: I think I should go, Jai. I've been gone for an awfully long time. I'm glad we talked, I had fun.
Jai: Me too. Um, Bani. Are you doing anything tomorrow night?
Bani: No, I don't think so.
Jai: Good. Because I'd really like to take you out to dinner.
Bani: (blushes) …dinner?
Jai: I mean as friends, because …we are friends, …right?
Bani: yeah. I'd love to go to dinner with you,….as a friend (giggles)
Jai: Great. I'll pick you up around at 8:00?
Bani: yeah, that'd be great. …I guess I should go now.
Jai: I can drop you home, if you want.
Bani: It's ok, I can take the rickshaw.
Jai: No, I insist.
Bani: (looks at jai for a second and then smiles) ok.

Jai leads bani to his Mercedes and seats her inside. Vijay watches them leave together and is extremely hurt.
