Part 17:

Pia buries her face into her trembling hands, and cries. Bani goes to Pia's rescue and hugs her shaking body.

Bani: pia, please don't cry!

Rano was still very angry, but felt a little guilty when she made pia cry. She didn't purposely want to hurt her feelings, but she had to let everything out. Rano wanted everyone to know how she felt. Her mood doesn't change, and she still gives bani and pia cold stares. Bani looks up to face rano, there are tears in her eyes, but rano could tell that her sister is very angry with her. Now rano feels extremely guilty for bringing tears to her sister's, bani's, eyes.

Bani: how can you say this, rano?!
Rano: (not ready to give up) what I said was no lie! We all very well know that pia isn't OUR real sister! She is a mistake that papa committed! He had an affair with HER mother, while he was still married to OUR mother! Pia is a nashani of papa's mistake! She is the reason why mama went through depression!
Bani: (still hugging a trembling pia) BUS, RANO! BUS! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANOTHER WORD FROM YOUR MOUTH!

Rano begins to fear bani, and is silent.

Bani: do you have any idea what you're saying about pia?!!! Hain, tum teek kahare thi! About papa's whole affair with pia's mother, and yes mama went through depression, but not because of pia, but because papa was unfaithful to her, but she forgave him and accepted pia as her own daughter! So what if she isn't our real sister?! She is our half sister! What's the difference?! …Rano, when everyone has accepted pia, ..then why can't you?! …aur, hain! Don't you dare call pia a mistake ever again, because she is the best thing that has ever happened to this family!

Rano bursts into tears and runs out of the living room. Bani doesn't bother to call after her, but pia does.

Bani: forget it, pia. Leave her alone for a while.
Pia: (tears in her eyes) di, what rano said was true. I am a mistake, and I'm not your real sister.
Bani: (wipes away her tears) aisse nahin kahate, pia. No matter what, you are my sister and I love you.

Pia gives a weak smile and hugs Bani, tightly. They break apart by the doorbell ringing. Bani and pia wipe their tears away, and bani walks up to the door. When she opens it, she sees Jai, in a happy mood, holding red roses in one hand, and holding a small teddy bear in the other.

Jai: hey. (gives bani one of his wonderful smiles)
Bani: Hey, you're early?
Jai: yeah, I couldn't wait. Where's my best friend?

Jai let's himself in. Bani laughs and points to pia, who is still lying across the couch. Jai sits next to pia and hands over the red flowers and the teddy bear to her. A glad pia accepts them.

Pia: Thank You.
Jai: No Problem. How you feeling?
Pia: I'm feeling better. Thanks for asking.
Jai: You've been crying, haven't you?…(notices her tears in her eyes) Tell me what happened.

Mausi is sitting down, at the dining table, with tons of pictures in front of her, looking very confused. She will take one picture and look at it carefully, and then put it back down, not liking it. Jigyasa is also sitting beside her, showing mausi some pictures that she likes. Aditya comes running down the stairs, whistling. He sees mausi and jigyasa arguing over pictures, and comes over to see what the problem is.

Adi: mausi…jigyasa, what are you two doing?
Mausi: Aditya, we're looking at these pictures of girls, and trying to see which one we want for munna.
Jigyasa: mausi doesn't like anyone of them.
Adi: What? You guys are already thinking about getting jai married?
Mausi: of course, it's time for munna to get settled.
Jigs: I want my little brother to get married very soon.

Aditya gets tensed because of the situation. He clearly knows that jai loves bani and has been dating her since the past three months.

Adi: mausi, does jai know that …well that you two are looking for a girl for him?
Mausi: no, but I know that he will accept any girl that I choose for him.
Adi: (gets an idea) hang on, mausi. I'll be right back.

Aditya runs back upstairs and into jai's room. Downstairs, dadi comes and joins mausi and jigyasa with the mission for finding the right girl for their jai. After a minute or so, aditya comes back downstairs and to them. He is breathing heavily, while clutching onto a picture in his hand. He hands it over to Mausi.

Adi: What do you think of this girl, mausi?

Mausi takes the picture from aditya's hand, suspiciously. She turns it around, and looks at it. Mausi looks back at adtiya and smiles, approvingly at him.
