PART 48

Bani had fallen for the oldest trick in the book, and her downfall was caused by her own stupid naivety… her resolution that people could change had been disproved by this scheming, calculating woman…

Bani suddenly becomes very aware that she is alone in the house with a woman who it seemed had no limits to her scheming… who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted.

The phone rings, the sudden shrill noise making Bani jump again. She attempts to move towards it but Roshni steps in front of her, cutting her off.

Roshni: You just don't take the hint do you? Of course… tum kyun kisike hints lene lagi? Why should you leave him, you have yourself set up here right? Toh kya hua ke Jai tumse umar main, status main, position main bahut bada hai… tumhe toh sirf unki yeh jaydaad dikh rahi thi na?! Isi liye apne Mount Abu ke Jatin ko thukra ke tum Jai ke peeche padgayi?

Bani: Jatin…. ko thukra ke… kaisi baatein kar rahi ho tum?

Roshni: Pyaar karta hai voh bewaqoof tumse!! Issiliye to itna aasaan tha unhe yeh yakeen dillana ke tum Jai ke saath bahut dukhi ho… maine hi unhe baar baar yeh ehsaas dilaya ke tum Jai se nahin… usse pyaar karti ho…

Bani, stunned: You used him… Kaisi insaan ho tum…? …Tum itni giri hui niklogi yeh maine kabhi socha bhi nahin tha-

Roshni: Yahi baat kahi thi Jatin ne mujhse… jab unhe pata chala ke tum Jai ke bachche ki maa banne waali ho toh yahi kaha tha… bewaqoof yeh bhi nahin samajh paaya ke jab Roshni Chopra kisi baat ko thaan leti hai to voh usse pura karke hi chhodti hai. Isse pehle ke voh tumhe or Jai ko mere iraado ke baare me bata paaye maine usse apne raaste se hata diya!

Bani feels sick as it finally dawns her – the person that she had thought of as her friend and confidante for the past few months had been the one to put one of her dearest friends in the jaws of death!!!

Bani, incredulously: Tumne… tumne Jatin pe goli chalaayi thi…?!!

Roshni, rolls her eyes: Astute aren't you Bani?! Kismat achchi thi unki… bach gaya voh…

Bani: Voh jaanta hai ke yeh ghinoni harqat tumhi ne ki hoga! Issiliye usne Jai ko waha bulaaya hoga… Voh abhi Jai ko aur Police ko sab bataa raha hoga-

Roshni, with poisonous calm: So why do you think I am here Bani…

Bani's eyes widen in realisation then fear and she edges slowly away from Roshni, who has a terrifying, murderous look in her eyes. She gingerly starts stepping backwards down the stairs, sliding her back along the bannister, trying to put as much distance between herself and Roshni as possible.

Roshni smirks: Tumhe kya lagta hai… itni raat gaye main tumse yaha milne chali aayi… for the betterment of my health?!

Bani: Tumhe kaise pata tha ke aaj Jai hospital jaayega... tumhe-

Roshni: Yeh hospital ke nurses bhi bahut kaam ki cheez hoti hai Bani… sahi keemat do toh bahut aasani se kissi ko bhi khareeda jaa sakta hai… Ab jab tak Jai Jatin ki baat sunke yaha ghar wapas aajayega toh mera kaam ho chuka hoga…

Bani: K… kaam…?

Roshni: Tumne aur tumhaare iss pregnancy ne mujhe bahut taqleef di hai Bani… ab waqt aagaya hai is pareshaani ko khatam kardene ki… Roshni Chopra will make sure ke tumhaare yeh bachcha kabhi is duniya ki roshni dekh hi na paaye…

Bani, incensed at the thought of anyone harming her unborn child, raises her hand to slap the evil woman: ROSHNI!!!

Roshni catches her hand, gripping it hard and pulling Bani's face close to her own.

She whispers maliciously: Marne se pehle jaanlo sweetie… Jai ki fikar karne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai… usse sambhaalne ke liye main hoon na…

Sneering evilly she grips Bani by the shoulders and pushes hard, sending her flying backwards down the long marble staircase…
