PART 3
As Bani came out of the bathroom, she walked to her dressing table and sat down without even acknowledging Mr. Walia. She was still angry at him. She applied a bindi to her forehead, put on her earrings and started to put on her choodiyan on as well. During this time, Jai had come out of the bathroom, dressed in the clothes that Bani had taken in for him. H e glanced across at her, and saw that the dori of her blouse was tied. He had been hoping that he would get to do it again, like he had been for the last few days. Jai, glanced back at Bani, who was busy putting on her choodiyan and an idea came to his mind. He walked up behind Bani and started to walk by, slowly catching one of the dori's in his hands and gave it a gentle tug so that it came undone. Pleased he turned back and said; "Bani, your dori has opened." Bani who was still busy putting her choodiyan on, tried to turn her head and see if it had. "Here let me do it," he said slowly coming up behind her. Their eyes met in the mirror over the dressing table.
Haa aapko samjha hai jabse zindagi
aapko samjha hai jabse zindagi
zindagi ab zindagi lagne lagi
zindagi ab zindagi lagne lagi
aapki baahon mein jabse aa gaye
aapki baahon mein jabse aa gaye
aaisa lagta hai ke manzil pa gaye
aaisa lagta hai ke manzil pa gaye
in aankhon mein shararat hai sharafat hai
hai bala ki shaukhiya kaisi yeh qayamat hai
in aankhon mein shararat hai sharafat hai
Jai gently swept is hands over the skin of Bani's back, and took hold of both ends. He felt a shiver run through her body, and looked back into her eyes, his gaze deepening, and darkening with something that even he could not recognize. Bani felt the tingles spread through her body, but she refused to give in to Mr. Walia's manipulations. So she kept her gaze firmly on the mirror and stared back at Mr. Walia. The more she stared the further she seemed to drown into his gaze.
kayi armaan dil mein aur uljhan yeh
jaan lewa hain mohabbat yeh mohabbat ye
kayi armaan dil mein aur uljhan yeh
jaan lewa hain mohabbat yeh mohabbat ye
ha aa gaye ham zindagi mein ek aaise mod par
jee nahi sakte mohabbat ka yeh daaman chodkar
aapki iss ashiqui ko kya kahe
aapki iss ashiqui ko kya kahe
apne is dil ki lagi ka kya kare
apne is dil ki lagi ka kya kare
haa aapko samjha hai jabse zindagi
aapki baahon mein jabse aa gaye
zindagi ab zindagi lagne lagi
Haa aaisa lagta hai ke manzil pa gaye
Still looking at each other in the mirror, Jai slowly swept her hair back in place. He was about to go when he noticed something on Bani's neck. He leant closer, and saw that he'd left a hickey. He smiled a smile full of possession at having marked her as his. Bani hadn't noticed the hickey yet, and he was tempted to let her walk around like that, but he knew she would kill him. He leant in close and whispered in her ear; "Bani."
"Ji" She answered looking into the mirror at him.
"Bani, you have a mark," a traced the mark with his finger, sending shivers through Bani, "Right here." Transfixed Bani stared at him for a minute until she realized what he had said. She pushed his hand away and leant in closer towards the mirror to inspect the mark. It was dark red, over where her pulse beat wildly. She glared at Mr. Walia, whilst trying to work out how she was going to cover the red mark. Mr. Walia was still smiling at her, and seemed to be loving her predicament.
"Mr. Walia, you're getting late. I'm sure Massi is waiting for you downstairs." She said curtly, hoping he would get the message and leave so could try and think how to hide the mark.
Jai just smiled at her because even though she was angry, she was turning a very nice shade of red. "Massi will call me down when she needs me," he replied, and went and sat on the bed to watch what she did next.
Flustered, Bani turned and pulled her make-up out, and went about trying to cover the mark with concealer and foundation. When she was finished, you could still make out the red mark, and she was getting even more frustrated by the minute. I know what if I tie my sari pallu the other way she thought. Quickly she went to the bathroom, and fixed her sari the other way. Coming out she looked into the mirror, and saw that it hadn't made much of a difference.
Seeing that Bani was really getting frustrated he got up and went towards the cupboard and pulled out a box. "Bani, here wear this, and it should cover the mark," he said, handing her the box. She took it and saw that it was a very expensive and heavy jewellery set. She normally never wore such heavy sets, but than again she never had hickeys on her neck either. She had to change her sari though, because this was too heavy, and with the jewelry she wouldn't be able to do the work that Massi wanted, so she went to her cupboard and pulled out a plain black sari, and took the jewelry with her. She took five minutes and came back out wearing the jewelry as well. She rushed over to the mirror and checked to see if the hickey was covered. It was. She let out a relieved breath and turned to Mr. Walia; "Shall we go down now?" she said.
Jai just stared at her and nodded, she looked so pretty. He followed her out of the door like a little puppy, watching the way her waist swayed gently, showing him a hint of skin. As the came down the stairs, Jai didn't notice anything, as he was still watching Bani's waist sway as she walked. He walked straight into Sahil, who dropped the plate that he was carrying. "Mamaji, watch where you're going. Aap ka diyaan kidar hai?" Sahil asked.
Jai shook his head, to clear the fog that seemed to have taken over. He looked at Sahil "Sorry, voh main ………. I was just ummmm……" He left his lame apology at that and took his seat at the table. Everyone was watching him intently. Dadi, Massi and Adi all had huge grins on their faces. He could feel himself start to blush.
