'Lovemaking scenes get better..Ram's Take

Tall, dark and handsome — the quintessential Mills and Boon hero of Indian television, Ram Kapoor shares a few secrets with us.

Being famous: My work schedules are so intense that there is absolutely no time to dwell on things like fame. Of course, one does get to know if a soap is doing well and the character is being appreciated. But I hardly have the time to go out and socialise.

No jitters: I am not a newcomer so I am not worried about getting typecast or stuck in a particular character, simply because it has been successful. I have been in television for a long time now. Secondly I have never really bothered about such issues. I personally feel an actor just needs to do his job and do it well.

Size no bar: I trained at a top acting institute in America, which taught me that above all an actor needs to keep working. Hence my mantra is simple — I will take on any role that comes my way, provided it challenges me, irrespective of the medium or the size of the screen.

Sex and the camera: One's comfort level in doing lovemaking scenes on camera only gets better with practice. In my soap, I had to do an intimate scene with my co-star Prachi Desai who is only 17.

It was ok for me, but it was definitely uncomfortable for her, given her age. However, I spoke to her beforehand and tried to make her feel as comfortable as possible during the scene. Moreover, we share a good rapport, which helped. And I think finally she did a fantastic job.

Eternal romantic: I like surprising people. For instance, on a recent holiday, my wife thought we were going to Goa, but I actually took her for a second honeymoon to Thailand, where we had also gone for our actual honeymoon. Then for our anniversary I gifted her a puppy. So I guess, you could call me romantic!

I, me, myself: I am full of fun most of the time and love playing pranks and having a good time. I love hanging out with friends, watching movies and just chilling. However, I do not suffer fools gladly. Simply put, when I am good I am very good, and when I am bad, I am very bad!
