Part 6
As they go out the mall they see that its raining too heavily. They rush to their car but get thoroughly drenched. Jai throws the bags at the back and they both sit in the front as Jai drives back to their hotel. They arrive, Jai leaves the car for the valet to park, and rushes with bani into their hotel suite. Bani hurries to their bags and gives Jai a towel and his night suit. Jai changes and comes out, when bani goes in. Meanwhile Jai orders dinner in his room as they are too tired to go out. She later comes out in her nighty, her hair wet and with a towel in her hand. She goes in front of the mirror and begins drying her hair when she sees through the reflection that jai is staring at her. She tries to ignore him and carries on when she feels a hand on her shoulder. She turns around to see Jai right in front of her, looking into her eyes so intently.
Jai doesn't know what has gotten in to him. He is losing control of his emotions. Every passing moment is making him realize how important his wife is to him. He needs her presence in his life. He is used to her now. He wants to show this side of him to her. He wants to be a good man. But the fact remains that Bani did not marry him out of choice. Didn't jigyasa herself admit that she made bani sit in the mandap….
He stops.
On the other hand, bani too is falling more and more for this man. This man who is her husband. This man who was meant to marry her sister, who is much older than her, who made her experience a range of emotions in the past 3 or so months. He made her feel dislike, irritation, humiliation, heart break. But he too was a victim of circumstances. That was not the real him. And he was the same one who had changed so much in the past few days. The same one who apologized so sincerely and profusely to her. Who defended her in front of his sister, who said he always wants to see her smiling. Who could not bear to hear that she is pregnant with someone elses child. Subconsciously she wanted to be closer to him. Yet, the fact remained that she wasn't the one he had chosen for marriage.
She stops.
Just then the bell rings and their dinner is brought. They quietly proceed to eat and go to sleep in silence as well.
Bani thinking: Mr. Walia …. Is naam ki adat ho gayi hein. Aap to meri zindagi mein usi din shamil ho gaye the jis din meine anjaane mein bhagwaan se apke liye prarthna ki thi. Shayad usse bhi pehle.Mein kya karu. Im not able to understand you……..yet it feels like I know you completely….
Jai is having a flashback:
Aditya: Jai tum bani ko bata kyu nahi dete ki tumhare dil mein kya hai
Jai: Aditya mein nafrat karta hoon un teeno se………..shayad mein bani se nafrat nahi karta par iska matlab yeh to nahi ki mein use pasand karta hoon.
Back to the present, Jai thinking: what are these emotions that are knocking at my doorstep? i have never experienced this pull ever. Neither with pia nor with roshni. And what was I about to do a while back! Why do I want to be closer to Bani. Why do I feel like life will come to a standstill without her. Im sure its not just physical attraction. I want to share every aspect of my life with her. Kahi mujhe…….
Next morning:
Both bani and Jai get ready. Jai is wearing a white shirt that Bani chose for him yesterday. Bani decides to break the ice:
Bani: aap par yeh shirt achhi lag rahi hai.
Jai (smiles cutely at her) : yeh tareef meri hai ya phir tumhari pasand ki?
Bani just giggles as jai keeps smiling. They eat breakfast in their room.
Jai: Bani tumhe kuch aur shopping karni hai?
Bani: nahi mr walia…
Jai: hamare paas pura din pada hai. Sight-seeing chalogi?
Bani: aap…(hesitating)
Jai: mere khayal se humme jana chahiye. Aaj mausam bhi achha hai.
They visit various monuments. Finally they are at one of the tourist spots when a photographer comes to them.
Photographer (PG) : Sir ek Polaroid lenge? Sirf 50 rupees ki hai
Jai : kyun nahi
Jai goes and stands by the monument by himself. (arre mere baap, u dimwit! 😆
)
PG: sir kya aap ki nayi nayi shadi hui hai?
Jai: kya matlab
PG:sir madam ko bhi lijiye na saath, achhi picture ayegi
Jai: (embarrassed that he didn't even ask bani): oh, wo bani
Bani just smiles and stands next to Jai
PG: kya madam thoda aur kareeb to hatiye. Sir madam par haath to daliye.
Bani is shy while Jai moves closer and places his arm firmly around her shoulder. He is glancing at Bani while she is looking down.
Click!
PG: ye lijiye sir
Jai: thank you…
Jai places the Polaroid safely in his pocket. They spend a couple more hours visiting places. Later they return to the hotel, check out, and head for the airport. A few hours later they reach Mumbai and go home.
It is decided that a party will be thrown the next day in celebration of the deal.
What a pleasant night it is, moreso with jigyasa out of the scene. Couples are lost in eachother at the dance floor. Bani and Rano are standing together talking about various things when someone offers Bani a hand.
It is Aditya uncle and she gladly obliges. Dressed in a deep blue sari she is looking electric. As she proceeds she throws one glance at Jai who had been looking at her for a while now. After 5 minutes, aditya feels a hand on his shoulder. It is Jai.
Jai: May I?
Aditya: gladly, please…
Jai gently takes Banis hand in his, and firmly but softly closes his hand around her fingers and ever so delicately places his other hand on her waist. They have danced before. But today it was different. Now they were aware of their own feelings. Each knew what his/her heart wanted. Again the song, Bahon ke Darmiya from Khamoshi is playing. Bani is looking down due to her shy nature but Jai is gazing at her nonstop. She looks up once in a while to meet him eye to eye.
Jai: Bani tum aaj bohot achhi lag rahi ho.
Bani (blushing pink) thanks….
On the other side of the hall, Rano goes to join Anu and her friends. When Sahil pops out of nowhere.
Sahil (looking at Rano) Tum aaj pehle se bhi achhi lag rahi ho
Rano: janti hoon!
Sahil (acting confused) ek min ek min. im not talking to you. I said that to Shaila right behind you.
Shaila gives him a flirtatious smile in return and promptly asks sahil to take her to the dance floor.
Sahil thinks to himself (yeh mein kaha phas gaya)
Rano is sulking in one corner, cursing Sahil as he pretends to enjoy his dance. Eventually Sahil excuses himself and goes to stand right next to Rano. Rano moves a few steps and he does the same, following her wherever she goes.
Rano: kya hai! Jao jaka dance karo Shailaaaa ke sath!
Sahil: wo to meine kar liya. Tum aaj sirf pehle si hi nahi, balki sabse zyada achhi lag rahi ho.
Rano turns around to see whether anyone is behind her and finds no one.
Sahil: mein tumse hi baat kar raha tha
Rano: Sahil! I, I hate you!!!
Sahil: Rano par mein kya karu. Mein to tumse….
Rano: tum mujhse kya Sahil
Sahil:rehne do
Rano: Sahil please batao na
Ranveer calls Sahil, Sahil: Rano mujhe jana hai, bhaiyya is calling me.
Rano just stands there happy and disappointed at the same time.
thanks for the comments guys. i think you guys were expecting jai to confess in this part. nah! that would be too soon. maybe in the next 2 parts or sure. this part is dedicated to blah-blah as she requested some rano-sahil scenes. and static-chaos, this time i havent ended on a cliff-hanger! 😆
