And for the first time after the pregnancy fiasco, she gives him a full yet shy smile and he just smiles back and moves out of her way as she leaves the room to go join the girls, Rano, Anu, masi and dadi downstairs.
The Next day: its evening, and it is 5 days to Anus marriage. Everyone is discussing the preparations needed to be done.
Bani: Masi Anu ke saath humne shopping to puri kar li hai. Ab sirf decorations ki tayyari baki hai and khane ki bhi.
Masi: beta khane ke tayyari to mein karlungi, aur decorations to ek din pehle ho hi jayengi. Tum ne apne hisse ka kam to kar liya.
Just then Jai enters and takes a seat.
Masi: munna kaisa tha din?
Jai: bohot busy raha masi. Ek nayi deal ki preparation chal rahi hai. Uske liye 2 dino tak delhi jana hai.
Dadi: beta Anu ki shadi ko sirf 5 din hai aur tum trip par ja rahe ho?
Jai: bohot important hai dadi.
Masi: arre biji koi baat nahi. Jai tu ek kaam kar apne saath Bani ko bhi lekar ja.
Jai (who was hoping masi would say this, immediately says): Bani tumhe chalna hai?
While bani just looks at him thinking that he is asking only asking for Masi's sake,
Masi replies: isme pooch ne wali kya bat hai? Meine keh diya na, bani chalegi. Is bar umeed karti hoon ki mujhe tum logon ke peeche nahi aana padega.
Dadi: yeh sahi kaha Billo tune, meri Rani Mukherjee kam kar ke thak gaye hai. Who kya kehte hai, she needs a break yaar!
Next morning- Jai and Bani leave for the airport. The plane takes off. On the way bani dozes off to sleep on jais shoulder and Jai doesn't take his eyes off of her even for a second. In the middle of the flight due to rough weather, the aircraft experiences jerks. Bani wakes up only to realize she was asleep on jais shoulder.
Bani: im sorry Mr. Walia…
Jai: its perfectly alright Bani, tumhe yaad dila doo, please don't say sorry for minor things.
They reach delhi, check in their hotel. After a couple of hours Jai leaves for his afternoon meeting.
Jai: bani me ja raha hoon, meeting sham tak chalegi. Sham me milenge.
Bani: ji Mr. Walia
Bani spends the rest of the time watching TV and touring the hotel resort and returns back before jai comes. Jai returns some time later.
Bani: uh apki meeting kaisi thi Mr. Walia
Jai: deal final ho gayi. Ab delhi me mera kam khatam ho gaya.
Bani (hiding her disappointment) : to kya hum wapas ja rahe hai?
Jai: actually maine tickets kal sham ki book ki hai. Hamare paas ek din hai. Tumhe kahi jaana hai?
Bani: nahi….. uh mera matlab
Jai: bolo, don't hesitate
Bani: mein soch rahi thi ki hum anu ke liye kuch aur cheeze khareed le, and baki ghar walo ke liye bhi
Jai: arre haan . waise mujhe bhi kuch kapde lene hai. Mein fresh hokar ata hoon. Then we will leave.
They arrive at the mall and enter a mens store. The sales associate lays out some shirts. Jai receives a call and leaves to attend it. Bani is patiently waiting. Jai returns
Jai: bani ho gaya?
Bani: ji? Kya ho gaya Mr. Walia?
Jai: tum itni der se yaha ho abhi tak kuch select nahi kiya
Bani: mein…wo..hum apke liye aye hai na
Jai: ofcourse warna hum mens store mein kyu ayenge.
Bani: (fumbling) meri pasand..
Jai: jaldi se kuch shirts select karlo. Mera size 18 hai. Im getting another call. Abhi aya.
Bani(now totally bewildered) goes aheads and selects some shirts, Jai comes back and pays for them and they leave.
As they are walking to other stores, bani is thinking to herself: mr. Walia kya ho gaya hai apko. Mujhe kya ho gaya hai. Mujhe achha kyun lag raha hai jab mein apne aap ko pehle se samjha chuki hoon ki yeh mumkin nahi hai. Please Mr. Walia meri umeed mat badaye, upar jaa kar mein dubara nahi girna chahti. Koi aur umeed nahi rakhna chahti. Jo raasta kahi nahi jaata uspar chalne ka koi fayeda nahi. Yehi maine Rano ko kaha tha. Kitni mushkil salah di usko. Mein kaise dabaau apne is ehsaas ko….
Jai jerks her out of her thoughts when he says: Bani hume yahan chalnaa chahiye
They shop for around 2 hours. Bani is leading Jai, and Jai like a typical husband is carrying all her shopping bags. As they are walking out of the door:
Jai: (wanting to carry a conversation, tries to engage in small talk) : kya kya liya tumne bani?
Bani: ji Anu ke liye kuch saris li, masi aur dadi ke liye shawls, and aditya uncle ke liye wallet. Sahil ke liye kuch lena baki hai..
<Jojo: Bani what about Ranveer?? 😆 >
Jai: aur apne liye?
Bani: (embarrassed) Mr. Walia mujhe kuch nahi chahiye. I don't need anything right now.
Jai: Bani tumne apne liye kuch nahi liya? Sirf doosro ke liye? Chalo
Bani: kaha Mr. Walia
Jai: andar, we have to get something for you too
Bani: nahi its ok..really…
Jai just walks inside to the ladies section. And asks the sales person to show some ghaghras/lehengas.
Jai to bani who is behind him: dekho bani tumhe kya chahiye
Bani (feeling too shy, just picks whatever is in front of her) : yeh theek hai
Jai: bani theek se to dekhlo. We have enough time. Please pink wale bataiye.
Bani gets confused as she runs her hand over all of them. Jai sees her and decides to choose one for herself.
Jai: mere khayal se yeh wala achcha he. (he points to a beautiful one, with delicate work)
Bani (iimmediately) ji yeh achha hai.
They goes over to pay as the cashier packs it up while bani is lost thinking that this is the first thing Jai has ever bought for her
As they go out the mall they see that its raining too heavily. They rush to their car but get thoroughly drenched. Jai throws the bags at the back and they both sit in the front as Jai drives back to their hotel. They arrive, Jai leaves the car for the valet to park, and rushes with bani into their hotel suite. Bani hurries to their bags and gives Jai a towel and his night suit. Jai changes and comes out, when bani goes in. Meanwhile Jai orders dinner in his room as they are too tired to go out. She later comes out in her nighty, her hair wet and with a towel in her hand. She goes in front of the mirror and begins drying her hair when she sees through the reflection that jai is staring at her. She tries to ignore him and carries on when she feels a hand on her shoulder. She turns around to see Jai right in front of her, looking into her eyes so intently...
