Agreed totally Arab Pearl!
Jai has always had an affection and admiration for Bani, something so deep, that he himself is not aware of it!!! Lolz...did you know that when Mohan had proposed marriage for Bani, to Jai...he had obviously been shocked out of his senses and had told Mohan, "Woh toh Bacchi Hai..." 😆 Now, how would Jai feel getting married to the girl whom he had referred to as a "Child"!
According to my viewpoint, the whole problem with Jai and Bani is that their relationship has a strong "Paternal" element to it...but surprisingly not from Bani's side, rather from Jai's side!!! I am of the view that he always saw Bani, the way he saw Pushkar...I won't use the word "Daughter" because that would be blasphemous, now that they are married! But Jai's protectiveness and pride in Bani was very reflective of a Father's protectiveness and pride in a Daughter, whom he adores and who makes him proud! That is why the shock and "personal mortification" of getting married to someone whom Jai always saw in a very "paternal" light...that is why the irrational resentment & antagonism against Bani.
Pia might have been younger than Bani in age, but for reasons of his own, Jai never looked at Pia from the angle that he looked at Bani…he was physically and mentally attracted to Pia from the very first instance, hence he never even gave importance to the fact that she is years younger than him or that she is Bani's younger sister…The most telling fact here is the way he explains the reasons to Mohan why he cannot marry Bani and then he gives a totally different set of reasons to Pia why she should not marry Mohan.
While he furiously argues with Mohan for not marrying Bani, because she is just a kid and years younger than him, he tells Pia that she shouldn't marry Mohan because he has been married thrice before and that Mohan cannot give Pia the kind of happiness that a young girl would expect from her husband….Isn't that really strange? But this just goes to prove, his completely different attitude towards Bani and Pia!
Remember the look of complete scandalization and fury on Jai's face when he saw Bani in his room on their Wedding night...more than the fact that he was upset about Pia ditching him, was the shock that he had married Bani...and suddenly the realization hit him that..."OMG...of all the people in the World, I end up marrying Bani!!!" The sudden jump in Bani's status, from a "Bacchi" to "Mrs. Jai Walia" was way too much for Jai to digest! Just look at all the post-marriage sequences between Jai and Bani, he is forever trying to avoid her, but she behaves in a normal way with him (Comparatively, considering its as big a shock for Bani to be married to Jai as it is for him!)...one scene that comes instantly to my mind is when Bani is all dressed up and goes to Jai's study to leave for Mohan's party with him, Jai gives one look at her and then brushes her off very bursquely telling her to go alone...he will come if he feels like...the awkwardness of going somewhere with Bani as his "wife", hit Jai very badly...The bedroom scene is perhaps the best indicator of how Jai feels about Bani being his wife...she switches on the TV for him, he switches it off, she brings Tea for him, he gives her one stare and walks off...the only time his face softens a little bit was when he sees Bani had taken out his night-suit for him...and remember the time he stumbles and she comes forward to support him, he instantly raises his hand in order to stop her from even touching him.....during the Dance he has with Bani, he doesn't look at her once...and she keeps looking at him in between!!!
All this is not because he "Hates" Bani per se, its only because he finds it impossible to believe that she has indeed become his wife...that is why the irritation and frustration!
But on the other hand, as some of us had mentioned before, Bani took her marriage much more positively & naturally than expected!!! Ideally, it should have been a bigger shock to Bani, that she married Jai, a man not only much older than her, but also someone who was in love with her sister and was set to marry her...but, the moment she became Jai's wife, all the previous thoughts she had about Jai vanished and she just became his Wife!
That proves Bani never had any paternal feelings towards Jai, he was only her mentor and her guardian...whom she respected and admired a lot....hence for her, the affection and caring that a wife has towards her husband came naturally & more effortessly, soon after her marriage to Jai, Bani wasn't all that scandalized or miserable about the fact that she had ended up marrying someone much older than her, something she always kept harping on to Pia!
As soon as Bani Dixit became Bani Walia...she also became Jai's wife that very instant, hence, she did not stop Jigyasa from taking her to Jai's room on her Wedding night, hence she dressed like a normal bride soon after, hence the comfort level she shared with Jai in their bedroom (Jai was the one who was looking extremely awkward, Bani was confused but not uneasy in Jai's presence) Also, I always noticed that whenever Jai used to hold her in his arms, for the dance or for introuducing her to anyone, she never once flinched or shrugged him off.....the way Jai had stopped Bani from touching him when he was drunk...Bani just looks a little awkward when Jai holds her in his arms, or catches her by her shoulders or just takes her hand in his... but she never resist's him or get mortified with shock at Jai doing so! But I still remember a scene where Jai had held Pia by her waist and Pia had been totally shaken-up!😆Hence, I feel that Bani has already accepted Jai as her husband and has forgotten all that she thought about him previously to her marriage with him!
The first and only time Jai realized that, Bani is indeed his wife now, was in the Temple sequence, hence the shock and dawning of truth on his face...that is why he was staggered and broke down in front of Mohan...
Pia might be the cause of Jai's present miserable state, but the reason is Bani....its not Pia's absence which disturbs Jai, it is Bani's presence that makes him go mad!
But on the whole its a good thing, because if Bani affects Jai to such an extent, that obviously means, his feelings for Bani run deep...else, he could have just ignored her. Its only that Jai is not able to associate his favourite employee cum protegee as his "Wife"...but now, since he has decided that he will teach Bani, the lessons in Marriage (Whatever he meant by that 😕 ) I think he will start seeing her more as a Wife, than simply as Bani, the kid who worked in his Office! 😉 😆
Love,
MT
PS: Btw, I was just watching one of the Videos that Monix has uploaded for us, the episode where Bani goes to Jai's Office to hand over the rent to him. I think that the scene was a defining moment of Jai and Bani's relationship, especially making a statement on Jai's perception of Bani...the look on his face when Bani tells him that he has the heart of a child was simply marvellous, a mix of complete surprise and amusement, in the manner that a grown-up is amused when a child makes a funny comment!!!😃It has got to be one of the best Jai-Bani scenes ever!
