Prof. Dixit had seen the loneliness in Jai and had taken genuine interest in him, his problems and they had become fond of each other?Though once Jai finished his high school he had moved back to Mumbai for further studies and then gone to the US for his MBA.. ..Eventually losing touch with Prof. Dixit?He now wished that he had kept up with Nishi Sir.. it was too late now thought Jai..

Though Jai hoped that he could help fulfill Nishi Sir?s last wish??

Chapter 2

Bani, could not believe that her father has given the custody of her sisters Pia and Rano and herself to Jai Walia. Though she was worried about how she was going to cope up with everything after her father?s death, she was a little upset and sad that her father did what he did. Her father always spoke of Jai with fondness and had mentioned to her once that she should go to Mumbai and contact Jai Walia, if ever needed, but Bani had never really paid any attention to it?.especially after having heard stories from their neighbors and her father?s ex-students about Jai..

She found out about Nishikant giving Mr. Walia the custody, when Mr. Khanna the family lawyer came and gave her a letter that her father had left for her with him. Though they did not have a lot of money, their father had left them the house that they lived in. She had thought that she would continue working and they would manage. But it was not meant to be.

Knowing that she did not have much of a choice and they all decided to go to Mumbai. She knew she could rebel because she was almost 21 and legally she would not be bound to be under Mr. Walia?s custody in a few months. But she loved her sisters too much to let them go and live with Mr. Walia on their own?.she had always felt responsible for the girls after the death of the their mother... and also the girls had always promised each other to be there for each other and to live together for as long as they could.

They decided to visit Jai Walia in Mumbai and see if they could persuade him to let them all stay in Mt Abu with Bani. Arriving at the Walia Mansion in Mumbai, the girls noticed that there was a party going on in full swing? People dressed in the latest fashions with exquisite jewelry? with music and people dancing on the dance floor?.drinks and food being served in abundance..

Pia was awe struck as she squealed, Di! Oh my God!! I see a few faces from the fashion magazine that I read.. I can?t believe that I am here with them. I could be a part of that crowd if we lived here, Di..this is awesome? Di.. Ohh!! I am so happy that we came here?..

Bani very gently reminded her that they were here to see if Mr. Walia would let them go back home with her, not for them to stay here in Mumbai. Rano too admonished Pia ? Har ek chamaknewali cheese sona nahi hoti ,Pia?. Sambhalo apne aap ko

Pia could not stop and continued???.Par Di, dekho na kitna sundar ghar, kitne sundar log, kitne sunder kapde hai inke.. hum agar yahi rahe jate hai to hum bhi inhi parties me shamil ho sakte hai, we can also be a part of this, Di!!

Bani: Pia! Tum kyu bhul rahi ho ki hum yaha kyu aaye hai!! Kya tumhe wapas ghar nahi jaana hai? Yaha pe hum kisi ko jante tak nahi. Aur na jaaane Mr. Walia kaise insaan hai? Tum bas yaha ke sapne dekna bhi mat?..

Aur kyui nahi?... Questioned Jai who had heard Bani reprimanding Pia?. Kyu nahi dekh sakti woh yaha rehene ke sapne. Aap tino yaha rehe sakte ho?I want that ?your father wanted that.. what's wrong with that?

Looking carefully at the girls, his gaze moved from Bani, who was dressed in a simple pink colored churidhar kurta, matching glass bangles in her hands, with no makeup her face? to Rano, wearing a pair of jeans and a top with glasses?quickly dismissing her? then moving on to Pia, a slender beauty whose face had this dreamy expression who seemed immature in her talk as well as her thought.... and then back to Bani?s petite figure, whose body language was defiant and her eyes stormy and angry at the arrangement that their father had deemed fit for them? thanking God that the custody arrangement would not apply to her in a few months once she turned 21....

Jai's eyes became hooded as he studied her, interesting he thought....

All three girls turned around to see a handsome man dressed smartly in a suit?.his dark eyes inscrutable?.his face quite stern?

Jai introduced himself and Bani who had lost her voice momentarily drew herself tall as she felt very tiny in front of Mr. Walia, introduced her sisters and herself.

Bani: ? Mr. Walia, mei janti hui ki papa wanted us to stay with you .... par me apse ek request karne aai hoo ki aap mujhe meri beheno ko aapne saath Mt. Abu mei rakhne ki ijjajat de.. Mei inka pura kaayal rakungi or aapko informed bhi rakhugi?.?

Par?

Just then Masi stepped in to the room, coming to see what was keeping Jai away from the party.. Arre Munna tu yaha hai??

She saw the girls and looked at Jai questioningly..

Munna??? Snickered Pia ?..only to be silenced by Bani?s look

Jai giving her Nishikant?s letter to read? explaining who the girls were and why they were here?Masi felt sorry for them and welcomed them very kindly?insisting that the girls live here and telling them that she would not take any arguments from anyone?.

Tears sprung to Bani?s eyes thinking of her father..seeing the love and understanding in a stranger?s eyes for them.. She felt wary though?.why are these people who are strangers to them ..being so kind to them..

This was not the impression that the people in Mt. Abu had given to her about Mr. Walia and his family.. they had complained that Jai was a very proud man.. very snobbish in his attitude and stuck up in his ways?. did not usually socialize with the locals at all when he was there and had a very few chosen friends?.

Thinking hard Bani said?

Par Mr. Walia..we will stay here only under one condition.. We will pay you rent? no matter what our father wished for I am responsible for my sisters, and I do not want to burden anyone with their responsibilities any more than necessary..

Masi: Lekin Bani beta?yeh tu kya kehe rahi hai?. Munna to tujse kuch bhi?

Jai: Nahi Masi.. this is right.. Yehi teek rahega? Kitna rent dogi tum..

Ji Rs.5000/- per month?looking at her sisters before replying?

Yes then it is agreed that you will pay me this amount on the 1^st of every month???

Jai turned around smiling to himself.... he liked the girl?s pride and belief in herself.. though she did not know anyone in Mumbai and did not have a job either...she was ready to pay him the money??.yes he would take the money not because he needed it but because it would be a challenge for her?.

Aur job ka kya karogi???

I will start looking for a job tomorrow itself.. I do have some experience in the hotel industry.. I was a management trainee at the Heritage Luxury Resort in Mt. Abu? I am sure that I will find something ?

Masi called Tony and had him get the guest rooms ready for the girls so that they could rest for a while.

Pia and Rano insisted on staying in one room?.and Bani had a room to herself. She wanted to share the room with her younger sisters but the room and the bed was not big enough for all three of them to share..

After a while Tony bought dinner to their rooms reminding them that breakfast is at 8.30 in the mornings and everybody is expected downstairs on time....

Great parts, hope we get a feel of what KS was like in the beginning but in your interpretation....so Pia wants to mingle with the high society and Bani needs to get a job.

That was a great first meeting between Jai and Bani

Nice start. So Bani needs to find a job and Jai seems very interested in Bani.
