Neha hopped around the room imitating the bunny rabbit on the television bright and early the next morning. Jai sleepily moved hearing the cartoonish music, putting his hand in the middle of the bed to make sure Neha was still sleeping. But he found an empty space and his eyes fluttered open to see Bani sleeping instead.

Finally realizing that the television was on, he squinted to see Neha happily bouncing around with her haathi in her arms.

He smiled watching her laugh at the cartoons on the screen, without a care in the world. She looked so happy and was obviously feeling much more better.

Jai quietly tiptoed out of bed. He didn't want to disturb Bani, who was sound asleep, and he wanted to sneak behind Neha. Quietly, he made his way to the little girl who was clapping with the TV and bouncing side to side. Jai stood behind her, and looked down.

"Neha?" He called quietly.

She quickly darted her eyes above her seeing Jai hovering. A rush of excitement came over her and she squealed loudly and hopped around him, trying to hide.

"Im gonna getcha!" He said pretending to chase her around.

Neha shrieked loudly, then laughed while running towards Bani. She started to pat Bani as Jai approached her laughing.

"Mama mama mama mama!" She said patting Bani's arm.

"Hmmm?" Bani said turning around and yawning.

"Sleepy?" Jai said lifting Neha up into his arms. Bani looked at Jai and Neha together, and it brought a smile to her face. Seeing her husband and daughter first thing in the morning never failed to bring her joy.

"A bit… Im just really tired."

"Still? Are you ok, Bani? You've been pretty drained for days now." Jai asked Bani softly. Neha was now fidgeting as her eyes had caught a new character on the television. Jai obliged and set her down so she could run off.

"Im so exhausted. These past few days seem to be catching up to me."

"Why don't you sleep for a bit more? I'll take Neha to Masi."

Bani shook her head. "I have to get to the office on time today. I didn't go yesterday. I cant imagine how much work I have piled up." She insisted. Jai reluctantly nodded, then made his way to the washroom while Bani got up from bed.

Once downstairs, Bani felt a bit more awake, but couldn't help but feel a bit under the weather. After skipping so many days of work, she hoped she wasn't falling sick. She quietly helped Rano in the kitchen, while Jigyasa sat at the table playing with Raima in her arms.

At the breakfast table, Bani helped to set out all the food, picking up simply a slice of toast for herself. They ate their breakfast in a comfortable silence, with Neha doing most of the talking herself, showing Masi all the interesting pieces of food she was finding on her plate before eating them herself.

Jai found himself engrossed in the business section of the newspaper, looking for any new acquisitions that he deemed profitable for the company. He reached out for his cup, but realized he was out of coffee.

"Bani, can you pour me another cup?"

"Why Jai? Cant pour it yourself?" Masi asked curiously.

Jai blushed slightly. "No… It just tastes better when Bani makes it for me." He said not looking away from his paper. Bani felt her cheeks flush and she quietly reached for the pot to pour his cup of coffee. But for some reason, the smell of the coffee bothered her. Bani made a strange face when pouring the coffee and only Rano seemed to notice. Rano checked and saw that she hadn't taken her normal cup of coffee that morning either.

"Bani Mami, you don't want any coffee today?" Rano asked nonchalantly.

Bani finished mixing the sugar in Jai's cup and looked at her, shaking her head. "I don't know- I just don't feel like having any."

"But Mami, you only took toast." Rano flatly stated. "You don't even want eggs with that?"

Jigyasa looked up at Rano curiously. Her daughter in law seemed to have something running through her mind.

"Woh….I… Im just not hungry." Bani scrambled to reply. The truth be told, she hadn't been feeling too well that morning, but she didn't want to worry anyone, especially Jai. "So I thought I would eat light today…"

Jai looked at her from the side of his paper. She met his eyes with a small smile. He didn't want to force her to eat if she wasn't hungry, so he nodded, figuring that he would just order lunch for them later in the office to make sure she ate.

He gulped down his coffee and motioned to Aditya to leave, as they were due for an early conference call. "Bani, are you coming now? Or a little later?" He asked putting his jacket on.

"A little later. I wont be long though…" She responded. He nodded, and much to her embarrassment kissed her on the cheek in everyones presence before he left. Masi, Jigyasa, and Rano all smirked at her, while she purposefully averted her gaze.

After breakfast, Bani sat on the stool in front of her dresser, finishing getting ready for that morning. She had to change her clothes because Neha had ended up making a mess out of her food at the table, dropping nearly half her plate on her clothes. But Bani took it in stride, especially after Neha looked sad that she was going to get into trouble. At least she was now feeling a bit better after having a light breakfast. Bani smiled to herself and combed her hair when she was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Come in…" Bani called out.

Through the mirror she saw Rano standing there, giving her friendly smile like normal.

"Bani Mami, can I ask you something?" She asked hesitantly.

"Sure… anything serious?"

"Well… its not exactly me about me."

"Its not? Is it about Ranveer? Or someone else?" Bani asked, suddenly feeling a bit nervous.

"Actually… its about you." Rano said looking at her through the mirror. Bani smiled and turned around to face her.

"About me?" Bani asked, wanting to laugh. "Sure. Ask away…"

"Mami, are you feeling allright?" She asked cautiously.

"Am I? Im fine. Why?"

Rano was unsure how to continue. "Its just that… well… you havent been eating much lately, and you're always exhausted."

"Oh… I think Im catching what Neha had…" Bani responded quickly. "Just a tad under the weather."

"But you don't have the same symptoms. Neha was coughing and sneezing, and you have none of that."

Bani paused for a moment, recollecting and realizing that what Rano was saying was in fact true. She slowly nodded in consent.

Seeing her silence, Rano continued. "And there have been a few times you turned down your favorite dishes, which is not like you. You've never been picky about what you ate. How have you been feeling lately?"

"A little tired I guess… I don't always feel like eating…" She responded slowly. Bani looked at her a little lost. "I know this is all true, but Im not completely understanding what you are getting at…"

Rano looked up as she heard Jigyasa and Masi down the hall. She didn't want to cause such a commotion so she leaned over towards Bani and whispered something in her ear. Bani's eyes grew wide.

When Rano stepped back, she saw a misty eyed but lost Bani sitting there very confused. She wasn't moving, but Rano could tell her mind was racing fast.

Rano waited patiently for some reaction, but the shocked woman didn't budge. "Bani Mami?"

"Huh?" She said finally looking up.

"Are you ok?"

"Do you… do you think its true?" Bani asked nervously. "I mean… I cant be… Its just not.. I mean it is, but… I didn't think… Oh my God.. I had champagne the other day… What if…" She said blurting out broken sentences.

"Champagne?" Rano asked raising her eyebrow. "Bani Mami… just relax."

"But Rano…." Bani paused, drowning in her thoughts again. "What if its true…" She whispered.

"Hmm…." Rano said thinking. "Well, really theres only one way to find out. I'll tell you what. I'll pick you up at lunch time, and we will figure this out, ok?"

"But what if Jai…" Bani's voice trailed off.

"We'll get through every hurdle in due time, Mami. Ok?"

Bani nervously nodded. Rano smiled and pulled her in for a hug. "Relax, ok? Im sure you are worrying for nothing. You go ahead and go to the office. Maybe it will help you take your mind off of things. Tension ki koi baat nahi hai? I'll see you at lunch time."

Bani nodded and walked downstairs with Rano to the car. They bid each other goodbye, and Rano ran back inside the house to take care of a few things before lunch.

The tension didn't elude her the whole morning. She spent most of the morning checking the time nervously. She knew it had been pointless to come into the office the moment she stepped inside, but still she had to try to get her mind off of things.

Jai watched her lost expression from afar and his brow furrowed in worry. Something was definitely on her mind, but he couldn't tell what. When he finally got a moment during the day, he dialed her through the intercom. Despite the phone being directly in front of her, it took her a moment to realize it was ringing.

"Hello- I mean.. Bani speaking?"

"Mrs. Walia.. kahan khoyi ho?" His comforting voice sounded through the phone. "Everything ok?"

She took a deep breath and turned around seeing his soft brown eyes rested on her. She nodded quietly. "Just thinking…"

"About? Me, I hope…" He said winking.

Bani let out a soft laugh. "Just this file." She lied. If only it were about him, she wouldn't have been so tense. She hated lying to him.

Something inside told him that she had something more important on her mind than the file. Still he didn't want to push her, she would tell him when she was ready.

Someone walked up to her desk holding a stack of files, so Bani told him she would call him back. He smiled and hung up just as he did, unable to take his eyes off his beautiful wife just outside the window.

Ring ring

Jai picked up his phone rather quickly. "I knew you couldn't stay away from me for long." He answered cheekily.

"Im sorry, is this Mr. Walia?" A male voiced called out.

"Uh.. Oops.. Sorry about this. Yes this is him."

"This is Mehta from the charity. I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time. We seem to be having a bit of disagreement and lack of cooperation from Ms. Chopra's side."

Jai groaned inaudibly. Leave it to Roshni to ruin his day. "Yes, Mr. Mehta, go ahead…"

The phone call that was not supposed to last more than fifteen minutes, exceeded an hour. By the time he hung up and temporarily resolved Roshni's latest tantrums, his stomach was growling. Remembering how little Bani had eaten that morning, he figured it would be a good time for lunch.

He dialed her number quickly. "Bani, can you come in here for a moment?"

Within minutes, she knocked on his door and walked in. She seemed a little lost, but still smiled when she saw his gleaming eyes. "Its lunch time. I was thinking, Italian? Just you and me. No interruptions." He said sweetly. Jai approached her, wrapping her arms around her waist and gently brushed his lips against hers.

"I.. I cant.."

"You cant? Why?" He asked rather surprised that she turned him down.

"I have lunch plans with Rano."

"With Rano? Shes coming here?" He asked. Bani nodded. "Any special reason?"

Bani looked up into his eyes, hoping he couldt read them as well as she thought. "Umm.. Nothing like that.. Its just that.. We… I mean I… I mean she wanted to-"

"I wanted to take her for a bit of shopping." Rano said walking in from behind. Bani looked into her reassuring eyes, thankful she arrived in the nick of time. "Its been ages since I went out Mamaji! Just this once… please please please?" She asked batting her eyes.

Jai chuckled. "Ok ok.. No need for the puppy-dog eyes. I already get that from Neha. Besides, Bani doesn't need my permission if she wants to go somewhere. You two go and have fun, ok?" He kissed her cheek and walked back to his desk.

"Chalo, Mami…" Rano said quickly grabbing Bani's wrist and dragging her outside of the cabin.

Jai shook his head with a smile then answered his ringing phone again. As soon as he heard Mr. Mehta's voice again, he knew there was only trouble on the other line.

Bani returned to the office sometime later, looking the same if not more nervous than before. Jai watched her demeanor from his window, wondering what could be weighing on her mind. If it was work-related, she would have not hesitated in sharing it with him. But her mind seemed to be in a far off land.

Rano was beside her and they seemed to be talking quietly.

"Mami… Just relax ok.. We wont know anything till later, so the best you can do is wait till we find out. Maybe get some work done, and don't stress about it too much." Rano squeezed her hand, and gave her a quick hug before she left for home.

Jai waited till Bani was alone to talk to her. He walked out of his cabin and approached her desk. "Have fun shopping?" He asked, breaking her out of her trance.

"Shopping?" She asked, seeming not realizing what he was asking..

"With Rano? You went shopping didn't you?"

It took her a moment to collect her thoughts. She nodded absently, then plastered a smile on her face. "Oh yes… it was great. We had a lot of fun."

Jai looked at her strangely. "Buy anything special?"

She shook her head. "No… Mainly window shopping…"

"Sweetheart, are you ok?" He asked quietly, not wanting others to hear their conversation. "You seem really out of it."

She looked up at him and took a deep breath, giving him reassurances with her eyes. "Im fine- really I am. I just had some work things that Im trying to resolve in my mind."

"Ok… Im here if you need me." Jai didn't push her any further than that. "Lets go home a little early today.. what do you say? I don't feel like working overtime today…", he said recalling the complaints he heard from Mr. Mehta. It didn't seem to get through to the mans head that Jai Walia had nothing to do with Roshni's personal OR business affairs. He was tired of trying to convince him.

Bani nodded. He touched her cheek softly and headed back to his cabin to get some work done. She sighed deeply as she took a look at the pile of files growing on her desk. Maybe burying her head in some work for the next few hours did seem like a good idea.
