Chapter 6

After breakfast, Alfred cleared up, and then Jai asked Bani whether she wants to go anywhere to which she said, "No Mr. Walia. I feel a bit tired and I don't feel like going anywhere. Maybe next week, I hope you don't mind." "It's ok Bani, I don't mind at all. If you don't mind then maybe we can get started a bit on the work so that you can know what you will be doing in the office tomorrow. Is that ok with you?" he said. She nodded her head and said, "Of course I don't mind Mr. Walia but before that can you tell me what you would like for lunch. I can cook it for you." "It's ok Bani, Alfred can take care of that," said Jai. "Please Mr. Walia," she said. He then agreed and said what he would like for lunch. She went to the kitchen happily to prepare lunch for them. He then sat at the lounge and read the newspaper. While he was reading he thought of the differences between the 3 sisters. Bani and Rano had almost the same characteristics while Pia was totally different. He remembered one day when Bani was sick. He went there with Dadi and Masi to visit her, while they were there he saw Rano coming out of the kitchen with a bowl of soup. She told that she could not cook much and doesn't know how will it taste as this is her first time cooking but she hopes that this would make her feel better. On enquiring where Pia was, Rano said that she went out shopping with her friends. He felt so angry because she was so ignorant towards her sister who was like a mother to her.

After the engagement, Jai brought Pia out for dinner. During dinner he asked her, "Pia do you know how to cook?" "No Mr. Walia I don't know and I don't intend to know," she said. "Why?" he asked. "Because you house there are servants and cooks to take care of all this so why do I need to learn," she said. He said, "But as a daughter-in-law, you are required to cook once in a while then what would you do." "Simple, just order some food from the hotel," she said. Jai didn't ask her anything else; he kept quiet while she kept on talking about her friends and her new clothes. He came out of his daze and continued to read the newspaper when suddenly a thought struck to him. If any stranger were to come in there and saw them, they would think that they are a happily married couple. Now from where did that thought come from he wondered. About 2 hours later, while he was busy doing some work in his laptop in the study, he saw Alfred came hesitantly. "What is it Alfred? You know I don't like to be disturbed while I'm doing my work," said Jai. "I know, Sir but Bani ma'am told me to give this juice as you were working non working for the pass 2 hours," said Alfred. Jai smiled and drank the juice without any complain; Alfred was surprised to see that his master drank the juice as he doesn't like to be disturbed. As Alfred was about to leave he asked, "Sir, if you don't mind can I say something?" Jai nodded his head and Alfred continued, "Sir, Bani ma'am is a great person and I'm very happy that you are going to marry her. You are very lucky to get a person like her as your life partner." "Why do you say so Alfred?" asked Jai. "She is a very nice lady and very polite. I'm sure you aunty loves her very much because she told me once that these were the qualities that she looked for in her daughter-in-law. Even you also told me once sir that you want a person like your mother as your life partner and I must say you made a great decision by choosing her as your life partner," said Alfred.

After saying this Alfred left to continue his work, Jai just pushed away his thoughts and continued his work. Later he came down for lunch and while they were having their lunch, Jai explained to Bani what will be she doing while they are here. After lunch, Jai told Bani to take some rest as she would still be feeling jet lagged. Bani also told him to take rest and not to strain himself too much; she was surprised when he listened to her. Later in the evening, Bani also cooked dinner and ate happily. He then advised her to sleep early as the next day would be a busy day. He also told her that he would be in the study a while to finish off some last minute work and later call Aditya to check up on how the business is going on there. Bani then asked him, "Mr. Walia, if you don't mind can I ask you something?" "Yes Bani what is it that you want to ask?" "Mr. Walia, I would like to call and check up on my sisters. Besides that I want to inform Masi and Dadi that I'm have reached here safely and am fine here," she told him. "Of course Bani, what is there to ask about this? You can do your call from your room itself," he told her. "Thanks Mr. Walia. Good night and sweet dreams." "Thanks Bani for the wonderful food and good night, sweet dreams," he said. When he said that, she blushed and went out of the study. In the room, Bani was thinking about what happen during that day and was very happy. She then changed to her nightgown, after that she called WM and she was just in time as they were about to have breakfast. Masi and Dadi were angry with her cause didn't call so she explained to them and asked whether her sisters were troubling them. They talked for a while then she talked to Aditya. After that she talked to Rano. Rano said, "Di, I missed you." "I miss you too, Rano but don't worry one month will fly by soon. So where is Pia, is she still sleeping?" "No Di, she went to Delhi for a trip organized be her college to meet a designer. She left today morning," Rano said. "Oh I see. Rano is everything ok there?" Bani asked. "Di, yesterday Pushkar came and the both of them went out together. I tried to talk to her but she was stubborn," Rano said. When Rano said this, Bani was a bit disturbed but she told, "Don't worry, Rano everything will be alright. You take care of yourself and eat properly, ok?" Rano said ok and they bid each other goodbye. She then kept the phone and went to sleep.
