A surprisingly well-executed episode tonight! Yes, I know there were plenty of fictional elements blended in but I actually liked the end result! Karna, especially, was impressive. I was happy when Radha and Adhirath were introduced! Happier still when they seemed to love Karna and he loved them back! Such a small thing but so many adaptations fail to achieve this even! I also ended up liking Kunti's flashback scene and her confession of guilt, Sayantani is such a good actress!
But the one moment that defined the episode was Karna's determined proclamation that he is not someone to reject his origins! The entire quote, "Main Radheya tha, Huin, aur agar kal mere Janani aake mere saamne bhi khade ho jaaye, main Radheya hi rahunga" - was very impactful! As I have mentioned before, I am really starting to like this version of Karna. He is confident, conscious and calm. I liked how he spoke with Duryodhana, he is so naturally poised. It's honestly a very welcome change after watching Karna crying or hamming away to glory in SKP!

I have to say though, Uruvi is not a Kekta bahu, they really need to lessen her interference in everything! It's so unnecessary and throws me off! Her driving Arjun's chariot was annoying but I really liked the moment where Karna's earring flashes against the sun and she is momentarily mesmerized! More such subtle scenes between them please!

Finally, I have to admit, Aashim's portrayal of Karna is slowly growing on me. He still needs to relax his body posture but he has a great voice and expressive eyes.

It was nice episode barring Uruvi's commentary of whats going on and her charioteer act.. I liked Karn's interaction with his family and also Karn- Dury scene , Dury sounded genuine in his feelings as his mother pointed.. I am hoping that they keep this friendship genuine and we have some great moments between them as well...

So competition started between Karn and Arjun , not only Archery but for Uruvi too 😆

Yes I agree! I thought they showed his affection for both his parents. I want them to explore this further. But anyway, Being Radheya is such a big deal because Karna was essentially abandoned by his biological mother so him embracing the title of Radheya is important in that sense.

Ashim is a great actor and I think he will get better with time.
The show makers aren't mincing words when it comes to talking about cast and discrimination are they? I didn't think they would start so soon. 😆

Yes lol I'd really like them to make Uruvi less Kekta-bahu-ish! I get that she is the narrator of this tale but interfering in everything is not necessary! I also liked Karna's interactions with his family and Duryodhan. As you said, I liked that Gandhari pointed out Duryodhan was authentic in his offer of friendship! I also hope their friendship remains genuine instead of going into the same boring "Karna was misguided, brainwashed" etc track that tv adaptations love!

If you ask me, this Arjun/Karna/Uruvi angle is kinda weird lmao! I hope they don't go too deep into this!

I guess the book has it that Arjun likes Uruvi but yes its not that detailed as they are showing in here.. but i guess they will be showing this till Uruvi's swayamvar.. when she choses Karna.. and if makers go by book also.. then Uruvi is bit kekta-ish i suppose 😆 She is very Mahaan and typical SP lead in that regard..

I am liking that they are constantly pointing out caste discrimination, it really modernizes the tale imo! One of the primary reasons for Karna's connectivity is the discrimination he faces, so I believe they are making it a point to emphasize and overemphasize this!

Re. Aashim, I was doubtful about him as Rehan in DSJZ as well, because Rehan was such a complicated and controversial role! He took his time to get into the character but when the Rehan/Ahaana track begun, he started to do very well! I think he's settling into the character in this also! I hope he does get better!

😆 They really need to quit while they're ahead! This Arjun/Uruvi thing is just odd! Yeah MTE about Uruvi, I am liking her overall, she is pretty charming and intelligent! But this interference has got to stop, she can provide voice-overs without being involved in everything!

Yes, she is involved in everything but I also think it's in line with how she was brought up: all her wishes have been fulfilled by her family, even before she asked for something. She was always the center of attention. I guess that is what we see right now too, a royal version of a laadli. 😉

She might have a generous heart but she has never seen hardship. It has been roses all along because her parents have been wary about the prophecy told when she was an infant, and they have done whatever they could to keep her away from thorns.

When she learns more about Karn, his bravery and his capabilities, and also sees the other side to life - how people suffer not just due to lack of wealth but due to lack of respect and opportunities just because of their birth, lineage, cast, etc. - she will change.

@bold, I actually like that too. I just didn't expect it within the first week, since most shows take forever to get to the point. 😆
I also feel that a lot of what is being shown is done in a way that a modern audience can relate to, rather than present the show as a mythological story from ancient times. Yes, we know it's about characters from the Mahabharat, but it also draws parallels with a lot of issues that we face in society today.

Also agree with what you said about Aashim. I have faith he will settle in pretty soon.
