I seriously liked this portrayal of karna more than other ones. He is always striving hard to prove his capability and is not constantly blaming his bad luck.Aashim's dialouge delivery is very good.In this serial karna knows that he is the adopted son so his anguish of not knowing his real identity can be portrayed well. Radha is shown really well. She is that typical too sweet and innocent mother. So all in all this serial has great scope.

Yes, she is involved in everything but I also think it's in line with how she was brought up: all her wishes have been fulfilled by her family, even before she asked for something. She was always the center of attention. I guess that is what we see right now too, a royal version of a laadli. 😉

She might have a generous heart but she has never seen hardship. It has been roses all along because her parents have been wary about the prophecy told when she was an infant, and they have done whatever they could to keep her away from thorns.

When she learns more about Karn, his bravery and his capabilities, and also sees the other side to life - how people suffer not just due to lack of wealth but due to lack of respect and opportunities just because of their birth, lineage, cast, etc. - she will change.

Oh, these are very valid points! What you say makes total sense! Uruvi is a charming character so far and I will be really interested to see how she comes into her own! I already like how confident, outspoken and uninhibited she is!

@bold, I actually like that too. I just didn't expect it within the first week, since most shows take forever to get to the point. 😆
I also feel that a lot of what is being shown is done in a way that a modern audience can relate to, rather than present the show as a mythological story from ancient times. Yes, we know it's about characters from the Mahabharat, but it also draws parallels with a lot of issues that we face in society today.

Also agree with what you said about Aashim. I have faith he will settle in pretty soon.

Yes, I have said this before but this show is very contemporary in spirit and so far, it's a good thing. It's fanfiction in some sense but it's good fanfiction, often fairly self-aware. We'll see how it goes though! I am always anxious to praise any Indian show before a certain amount of time! 😆 In any case, it's a daunting task, adapting epic retellings! Showmakers can barely adapt the original epics, let alone retellings! So I'm interested to see how this experiment goes!

Me too! I like this portrayal of Karna so far. He has a calm, determined stoicism that I like! One scene that stood out to me tonight was when he tells Kunti, Arjun and him will meet and fight again and nobody can stop it. I, however, don't care for the Kunti centrism of this show and would rather like to see Radha. Aashim has a great voice but his body language is still not quite correct. But it's only been a week and it's a pretty overwhelming character!

Yes, she is, and it is refreshing to see that.

Yes, you're right. It is self-aware. As for fan fictions, I often find they are better written than the original script of many shows. 😆

I have learned the hard way not to expect too much of Indian shows or to invest too much emotion in them. So I will enjoy the beauty and charm of the show as long as it lasts. 😉
