So you have no other option than to rewrite history and convince others that your grandparents were nice people.

Just look at British Royalty. Everyone killed everyone because no one liked any one. But there is no proof for anything though everyone speculated who did what. Still, no one said anything against the throne, because there was no proof or even if there was any proof, it was destroyed. Queen Victoria's guard and favorite friend Mr Brown kept a diary about their daily activities. It was burnt after his death by her son for the fear of public humiliation. Even such a small thing was a matter of threat to the throne. Royalties always need to protect their face before the public. They cannot stand against public opinion.

but what about everything done to them cheating, humialiation everything cannot be rewritten is it really possible ?? plus its not like the common people didnt knew anything i am sure many would have known things better than prakishit himself i dont think its even plausabile to change everything exaggerate yes but changing everything is not possible

plus i firmly believe that it takes two to tango and thats what mb was all of them made mistake

also if he really wanted to re-write history he could have projected his granparents as swayam marya puroshotam bhagavan sri ram and other as raavan but thats not the case is it??

Just look at aryan invasion theory. It was British people who cooked it up and made us believe we Indians descended from a more intelligent wandering people called Aryans. Westerners couldn't digest that we were once better than them in everything. So they found this invasion theory which is now no one accepts in the west. Its validity has been disproved many times. It is now genetically proven that Indians have been residing in this continent for more than 10000 years. But still, all indian schools and universities teach aryan invasion theory. Sadly, now Indians are the people who defend this theory, not westerners. If that is the effect of foreign people who knew nothing about us rewriting our history, what could be the effect of our own people doing it?

I am not saying that Parikshit got MB they way today it is. He began it and later his supporters took it on their shoulders and it was built bit by bit, like this Aryan Invasion, not in a flash.

its still hard to believe that everything was created by prakishit and his allies exaggeration maybe ofcourse he might have exaggerated here and there but changing everything nah

but this story can be actual thing too right?? why do you think that everything today we read is prakishit s creation apart from pandav cheating part and if it really is then why even retain that bit could have easily ommited that part too humein kya pta chalta

the fact that nobody is painted complete black in the epic makes me believe that it wasnt somebody s creation but is actually true

One more thing. Nobody exactly knows how Buddhism, which was once spread throughout India, came to almost an extinction here.

But if we look in our Puranas, there is a story of Buddha. Once Yama went to Shiva and complained "nobody dies anymore, and helll is vacant. I cannot do my duty. What shall I do?"

Shiva said, "I shall be born as god Buddha but anyone who worships me will fall into hell. So you can do your job."

I am sure that decline of Buddhism has something to do with this story.

Also, Buddha is the eighth avatara of Vishnu in North India, but it is Balrama in South. Why the difference?

These only indicate that it was possible to rewrite history and change what people believed.

There is no need to believe it. Just keep in mind that this also is a possibility. We cannot conclude anything. Politicians always rewrite history. Recent attempts of Rajasthan govt to rewrite some king's failure in a certain war were quite a big news. So it is nothing new.😆

but then why is it necessary that prakishit change the thing maybe somebody from the other side did maybe one of their allies or friend diluted the original story that was narrated to janemya and probably thats why vh is not mentioned by drau or others after the dice hall sequence possible?? maybe even pandava cheating was included later for the same purpose

Rewriting history is a common thing, as rightly pointed out by Brahmaputra.
However, the problem with this theory is that, we tend to only see one side to it. The general idea of Inversion Theory was first suggested (but later dismissed by other Indologists) by Adolf Holtzman in the late 19th Century. His opinion was Kauravas were heroes and Pandavas were villains, but the whole story was inverted.

The problem is, if that is indeed the case, then why was the transgressions of the Pandavas retained at all? What was the need to mention burning the Nishada women? Or that Yudisthir gambled his own citizens, brothers and wife and served his family on a platter? Or that the Pandavas cheated in war?

regarding Sahedev , wasn't there something like He was good in knowing future.. I mean he had some special power right that allowed him to see future..

Another question - Five villages that Pandavas had asked , were they not such that it was impossible to give them anyway.. I don't know where i read or heard this but location of those villages were very much at critical point of their empire.. It was difficult for duryodhana to hold on to hastinapur if he had given those villages.. is there any truth to this?
